Riad Massine II

Marrakech, Morocco

Riad Massine II has an atmospheric interior, but unfortunately it is located closer to the new town than the souks and Djema El Fna. The walk back at night is not particularly savoury. Unfortunately, we found that Riad Massine II offers a large mark up on the tours an activities. They charge 140dh for a trip to the Hammam, but they walk you to the local hammam 100m away, pay 30Dh for the entrance and leave you there. Similarly they charge double for the standard Sahara tour. Be weary.

Riad Basma

Riad Basma was the perfect antidote to the hectic souks of Marakech. We were made very welcome and would definitely recommend to anyone that they stay here! It's not the easiest place to find, but well worth the effort.

We stayed at Saban for 3 nights and had an amazing time! The place itself is very atmospheric with treehouses surrounded by vegetable gardens and wandering chickens. It is the perfect place to go for relaxation. Felt a similar atmosphere to a campsite but more comfortable beds! The staff were all so friendly and helpful and the food was amazing. Would recommend it to anyone who likes relaxing in a beautiful environment with great food!

This hostel is in an amazing location just 5 mins from the seafront in the beautiful old town. The rooms were basic but clean and comfortable and we really enjoyed our time here. It has a small swimming pool and a great turkish breakfast. Owners are really friendly and always trying to help you. I would say shop around for tours etc though! Great place to stay.

Riad Massine II

This Riad has great character, and a good location near the main square. The best thing about this place is the hospitality. The staff, manager Kamil, and assistant Hakim, form a small tight group that are very friendly and welcoming. Over two days we made good friends with them, and the other guests too. The free mint tea they provided throughout our stay was the best we found in Morocco, and the terrace is a great place to unwind after a hectic day in the medina. Highly recommended.

The security would be better with a locked storage space for luggage. Lockers could be bigger.
