The Backpackshack

London, England

The Backpackshack is very good value for London, and unlike most other hostels, it has a guest kitchen and cheap groceries nearby. It's a little bit west but the tube is very close by for easy access to the city centre, the museums and Heathrow. The staff and the owner, Derek, are exceptionally helpful and really put themselves out for us. There's a proper local pub downstairs too - a more authentic London experience than you'll find in zone 1. I'm so late writing this, apologies! Thank you!

Hey thanks for a great review - better late than never... :D

Five Reasons Hostel

Nuremberg, Germany

No complaints at all. Excellent location, nice rooms, helpful staff and generally quiet atmosphere.

Grand Hostel Berlin

Berlin, Germany

Excellent hostel. Very much recommended for Berlin visitors. Great facilities, helpful staff, a fine location and very good value. We stayed in both a private room and an en-suite dorm, both of which were far above the usual hostel. Don't waste your time staying in Mitte - you'll have a much better Berlin experience down around Kreuzberg.

Belgrade, Serbia

This is an excellent hostel with great staff.

Carpe Noctem Original

Budapest, Hungary

By far the best hostel I\'ve ever stayed at. The staff create a great atmosphere. If you want to have fun and meet great people, stay here. If not... you should probably stay elsewhere. ;)

This was a good hostel, and it had a lively bar. The other Wombat\'s is in a slightly better location.

I went in the off-season, so it was very quiet. It\'s not a party hostel, but you can still relax and meet great people here. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful.

Brussels 2GO4 Quality Hostel

Brussels, Belgium

This had one of the nicest dorm rooms I\'ve ever stayed in.

Halifax Backpackers

Halifax, Canada

A good hostel with character, but it\'s in a sketchy neighborhood. That may or may not faze you.

Montreal, Canada

I loved this hostel. It has the best location of any of the Montreal hostels; you want to be around the Plateau, not downtown. Also, the staff were smashing when I was there. The whole place had a friendly, welcoming, and social vibe.

Clarence Castle

Toronto, Canada

Toronto\'s best hostel by some distance.

McLays Guest House

Glasgow, Scotland

It\'s not social like a hostel, but for good-value accommodation, it\'s unbeatable. It\'s clean, spacious, and well-located.

Victoria, Canada

Although partitioned, the dorms are huge - be warned.
