Travellers Inn

Mumbai, India

In all bad value. You can get the same kind of accommodation at much better prices around Mumbai. Staff both good and bad. The first one we met was very rude. The next one was much nicer. But in all just ok. Security average. Cleanliness poor. No change of sheets or cleaning the rooms. The hot shower is either burning or freezing. Location OK for CST train station, but that's it. = Not good value for money, even for Mumbai.

Staff amazing. It's like staying in a home and it's a small place so you get to know your fellow guests. Breakfast is good and the staff even cooks dinner. The location is on a hill with only a small trail leading up to it so it's a short hike up with your luggage, but the view is nice. No mosquito nets, no hot water, and the toilet is a squat toilet (but a clean one). Not a place for a one night stay, it is a 5 min drive and a 10-15 min walk to city center. Better if you are staying for longer.

Durban Backpackers - On the Beach

Maybe not the best place for backpackers. Very clean and secure hostel. Helpful owner. Location is far from the city centre, and as taxis are expensive we only stayed there for one night. Close by the hostel is a small shopping mall with nice restaurants. Nice breakfast.

Not a place for backpackers. Friendly owners, Kim and Frankie. It's like staying in their house, and you always feel a bit like you are intruding. Nice gardens, and clean basic rooms. Toilets and shower nice and clean. Bad location, far from everything, but maybe its like that with everything in Jo'burg. If you have your own car it's better.

L'Etoile Bleue

Average character of the buildings, very clean and tidy. Very poor location, even if you have a car. Staff at front desk not eager to be of service but the cleaning lady was a lot more fun :) Even though I did not party there, it sounded like somebody else was having a very good time.
