Not the cheapest for India, but i think it's just the going rate for Kolkata. Very social hostel, as it's a small place, located on the 14th floor. Very close to a metro station. Good view from hostel. Close to the main attractions. Great breakfast. Lots of places to eat nearby. There's cooking facilities should you want to cook. Definitely would stay here again.

Pretty nice hostel with decent communal areas to meet people. Solid beds and free drinking water. Was quiet when i was there. A bit far from the main action, the River Ganges, for my liking, but on the flipside, staying a bit further out forces you to be exposed to more of the town, as you walk back and forth from the river.
Greetings from Team Zostel. Thank you for providing positive feedback. Zostel always tries to provide optimum and unparallel experience to all travelers. We are really happy that you liked the place, the people, the Zostel vibes, and importantly the Zostel experience of making friends and interacting with people. We hope to see you again sooner. Our Staff there would love to host you again. Regards Team Zostel

Free drinking water, friendly staff and its location are the only reason I'd stay again. Plenty of food options nearby, and the Taj Mahal is within spitting distance. Downside, beds are rickety (the new part of the hostel may have better dorms), and the rooftop restaurant had very slowwww service and criminal beer (R300)/breakfast (R200) prices. Amazing view of the Taj Mahal from the rooftop restaurant, but i wouldn't spend a single rupee up there again, but arrived very late and had no option.

Really nice social hostel. Huge common area with lots of areas to chill, and large rooftop space, so easy to meet other travelers. A fantastic free breakfast with boiled eggs. Solid bunk beds with lockers. Lots of places to eat nearby. Was easily walkable to, from the bus station. Only downside, when you wanted to extend your stay it worked out better to book online again, rather than them just giving you a discount for ease! I enjoyed my time there so would stay there again.

Solid dorm beds with curtains, and showers are spot on. Location is great in terms of right next to metro, but other than that it's not convenient for restaurants (so you'll probably end up having to eat at the hostel in the evenings, which is relatively expensive for what you get, unless you prepay for a meal package at check in), and far from sites, though you can use the metro easily to get around. Warm beer was their speciality, 3 days in a row, lack of organisation to put any in fridge!

Perfect location in terms of the short walk to the main beach. 4-bed ensuite dorm with AC is very spacious, and solid bunks with great mattress. Big lockers in dorm. There's rooftop space and downstairs common areas for socialising, though no-one was up there(!) but that's no fault of the hostel. Plenty of space for drying clothes. Breakfast is very decent. I would definitely stay there again, having checked out other hostels nearby.

Really good showering facilities, solid beds with curtain. My 4-bed dorm was super tiny (but didn't really affect me), but other rooms were much bigger. Near the main lake and a mall. Easy to get to via bus 100 (20 Rupees), from train station area. Decent rooftop area for meeting others. They sell beer and other snacks. Local restaurants within spitting distance. I had a very comfortable stay here. Laundry seemed a little pricey (1000 Rupees) but not sure if that's the going rate in Sri Lanka!

Close to metro station, which is really handy. Free water. Rooftop area for socialising. Lounge downstairs for meeting others. Near to local places to eat. Bunk beds were solid with powerpoints, etc... Suited my needs. Try and request a room without locals who are working in the city and staying there, who have odd working times, if possible. Some woman got on my tits who lacked dorm etiquette coming back from work at midnight and then was on her phone for the next few hours!!
Thanks for giving us a chance to host you. We are super happy to find you are satisfied with us. We wish to add many more memories in the chapter of our never-ending relationship and for that, we need to host you over and over again. Thank you, Team Zostel

Really nice young staff. Decent free breakfast. Plenty of common area space for socialising. Not a very touristy city (unless you're going to Osho International meditation centre) so don't expect too many western tourists at the hostel. Close to airport in a good neighbourhood. All in all i'd stay there again if i was in Pune, as it ticked all the boxes for the price you pay.

Really clean place. Very friendly and helpful staff. The location was good for me, as i was meeting friends very nearby. Bunk beds have individual curtains for privacy. I was only there for 1 night so can't comment too much about all the facilities. Attached bar a good place to meet fellow travelers. All in all, really pleasant stay for me.
Hello there and thank you for your good feedback ! Have a safe travel !

Awesome location. Great to meet people due to bar and breakfast option. My only negative comment is that you have to pay to use the lockers in the dorms. I've never had to pay for a locker in a dorm, usually just bring your own padlock!!

More of a hotel feel than a hostel, in terms of atmosphere and the mindset of the reception staff. Very clean and comfortable place to sleep. I was only here for 1 night, but the set-up of the common room/kitchen area made it difficult to meet people.

A very social hostel, as they organise a free evening meal (first come first though, and not guaranteed to get some food!), and they organise nights out. Definitely recommend this place to meet people, though a bit expensive(!)

Only stayed 1 night so not sure how social it is. Decent dorm beds, though room pretty cramped, but you can easily work around that. The outside terrace a great place to meet people. Pretty expensive for a dorm bed, but I think unfortunately that's the general going rate in Dubrovnik. Being in the old town is ideal, as most things you'll do is in or around the old town. As a single traveller I would stay here again due to its popularity. If with a few friends I'd just pick the cheapest place.

I only stayed 1 night (Thursday) as the price was decent, but i feel it's too expensive at the weekend. There's a bar there to meet people, though i didn't use it, as i had plans to meet friends elsewhere. Beds are good, solid bunk beds so no squeaky frames. The room i was in had hardly any power sockets, and they were all in one corner of the room, so you didn't feel comfortable charging your phone overnight. Location is pretty decent as it's very close to the Mainline Stations.
Hi there, Thanks for your feedback! Yes in the rooms the power sockets are located in one area however we also have sockets under all our seats in the café area.

Pros: Awesome friendly staff. Common areas to meet people. Cons: Toilet and showers very poor. Common area gets pretty warm with a poor fan, and so no-one really hangs out there. Breakfast is free but very very basic. In my opinion poor value for money even though it's cheaper than other hostels in the area. This hostel needs to lower their price to be competitive in real terms with Z hostel, which is slightly more expensive but has infinitely better breakfast, rooms, and air con throughout.

Would've been a 10/10, but it got 9.7 as the atmosphere isn't the best without a real common area; though it does have an overpriced bar on the roof to meet people. In the Makati area, it might not be the cheapest, but no doubt the best value for money hostel, having stayed at a few hostels in this area. I would definitely recommend this place for its facilities (amazing rooms with all the mod cons inside), cleanliness, and really good free breakfast. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again.

Really good social place, and very conveniently located to the beach area. Great rooms with nice beds. Recommended to stay here. The only downside I can think of is that they don't have any cheap water refills, so you have to buy their overpriced water (php80/litre) or go to the local family mart. Even the mad monkey provides php20/litre water refills which I respected.

Really good party hostel. I checked out after a few days because I couldn't handle the noise, as my room was right next to the bar area. Perfect place to dedicate a whole day of drinking and socialising, if that's what you're into. Free towel provided, which is a bonus. Nice solid bunk beds. Free shots every hour. Recommended for those who love drinking all day.
It was our pleasure to have you here as our valued guest. Thanks for the thoughtful feedback. Keep it real, keep it Mad Monkey!

Absolutely stay here if you just want to do the whale shark watching, as it's 30 seconds away from where you need to go early in the morning (5am!!). Good value for money. Because of its location it's a popular place to stay and hence you'll meet plenty of fellow backpackers.

A bit out the way from the ferry terminal which is why my score is not a 10, but other than that I highly recommend this place. Most social place I've been to. Close to the local beach (15 minute walk). Awesome free breakfast considering how much you pay for the price of your stay here.

This place has all the facilities you need, solid bunk beds with curtains and personal light and sockets inside the bed. Power showers. Great information boards. Staff are awesome, who you can chat to during the day, and the huge common area is great for chilling out in and meeting fellow travelers. I would stay here again. They organise daily activities so you don't have to do things alone.

Perfect hostel for me in terms of location and atmosphere. Solid bunk beds with curtain and individual lights and power supply. Nice big common area with a good huge viewing area of the streets below. Great beer deals; drink as much as you want for $149 (bargain!!) Awesome staff. A 10 second walk to the underground station, which connects both lines; super convenient.

Perfect for my needs, as it was a short visit for me, and the hostel is very close to the train station, which meant I could easily get into and out of Taitung with my backpack. The 7-11 at the train station was fine for me for an evening meal. I spent a day on their free bicycles so didn't mind being out of town. If you want to wine and dine every night then I recommend staying downtown. Hostel is very clean, social, and staff are very friendly and helpful.

Great location (very close to train station), very clean, with good facilities. Free coffee in the morning. Recommend for non-solo travelers for value for money. Only thing missing is it lacked a social vibe when I was there, due to a lack of a chilled out common room (there is a somewhat formal common space in reception), so for solo travelers it can be hit and miss. So I tried another nearby 'comfier' hostel after 1 night to meet people, and didn't regret it; ended up spending 3 more nights.
We are glad that you enjoy the stay with us! We will work hard to improve our atmosphere. Thanks for your coming and hope to see you soon!

Was perfect for my needs. Solid bunk beds with curtains. Power showers with soap and shampoo provided. Free breakfast. Huge common space with lots of information boards. Daily events, like walking tours. Walking distance from Taipei main station (about 25 minutes for me, I think!). Friendly and very helpful young staff who you can chat to during the day if alone. I'll be going back there at the end of my Taiwan trip before my flight.

Basically a house with 2 dorm rooms, and some private rooms. Everyone is super friendly. More of a family feel to it with a cosy lounge etc. Not my favourite type of bunk bed though, the metal frame ones, especially as I've been in solid frame ones with curtains in many hostels in Taipei. Ultimately it depends if you prefer small homely hostels to chill or bigger ones with much more facilities and information boards everywhere.
Thanks for choosing to stay in our hostel. Though it's not a secret, we are glad to know that you found how we tried hard to make this place cozy and homely :)

Awesome hostel. There is nothing they haven't thought about here. I couldn't think of one thing missing at this place. Power showers, solid bunks with curtains, plenty of storage in room, great free breakfast which is made on demand, a big screen for movies in the evening, nice chill out area, balcony, washing machine, good WiFi, and awesome owners who care about their guests. Walking distance to a night market and Taipei 101. I was impressed by this place.

Nice chilled out hostel. Plenty of communal space to meet fellow travelers, but the atmosphere seems to be dull. Free breakfast is on a first come first serve basis which I think is a joke, as sometimes there will be nothing available! Awesome massage place downstairs where you get PHP100 discount if you stay here. Water situation for shower is poor, as sometimes there will be none. A note says restaurant downstairs is using it all up!! Hmmm!! Best thing about this place is the awesome staff.

Great location for nightlife. Nice kitchen and common room. Discounted drinks at bar in hostel, which is great for meeting people. They have daily activities, which is great for solo travelers. I would stay there again, as long as it wasn't too expensive, which it can be at times.

Nice hostel with plenty of communal space, a kitchen, a cinema style TV room, and in a good location. Staff are really nice. Impossible to get into the hostel without staying there, so it's a super secure place. Rooms can get a bit warm with only small fans to cool things down. Overall it was a good place for me.

I would have given this place a high score but on the last day there was a power cut (no electricity for fans/AC so didn't sleep well in the heat, couldn't charge phone/camera), and they didn't really care in offering anything. Not their fault, but I'm sure being a HI chain they could atleast offer me a discount off another HI hostel elsewhere on my travels. The staff said they would consider it and email me but haven't, so I gave staff and value zero score. So on principle I wouldn't stay here.
Thank you for the feedback

A small communal terrace which is great for socialising as you're forced to meet people, but a bit small if you want to chill there when there is a group dominating the area. Location is great. Breakfast is really good, freshly cooked each day. Great place to meet people in general.

Awesome beds made from concrete/steel structure. No real common area vibe to meet people, unless they are in your dorm. Very clean toilets and powerful showers. WiFi only in the lobby. No kitchen, but I didn't want to cook anyway. Great cinema room. Location is brilliant, very central. I would definitely stay there again if I wanted a very comfortable stay but happy if I didn't meet any people.

Very comfortable place to stay. Plenty of toilets and showers scattered around the building. Big kitchen. Free drinking water. Staff are really welcoming with great customer service skills. Hostel is on the 4th floor, so has great views from the rooftop area where people chill. Another chill out room with TV in hostel. Only 30 beds in the hostel, which creates a nice social vibe where everyone socialises with each other. Very close to Juarez subway station, making it easy to travel anywhere.

Really nice place. My rating would have been 10, had I not rated the location as neutral. Location is away from the beach but there are free bikes here. Being in the town is great for cheap local food, and markets. Staff are awesome, they make this place very social and a comfortable place to stay. Cleaning staff are cleaning all day long, keeping the place spotless. Beds are solid and rooms spacious. Really good roof-top bar /chill out place. Awesome breakfast. Highly recommended.

Nice setting, dorms surrounded by trees etc, but due to that there is plenty of mosquito's in the bedrooms, with no protection when you sleep, the nets had plenty of holes and I didn't sleep a wink, got bitten all night. A bit away from the central area. Other hostel much better.

Very basic, but I think most hostels here are not the best. Only 1 shower, 1 male toilet , and 1 female toilet for the 2 dorm rooms. The worst mattress I've ever slept on at a hostel. Really impressed with this place. Super clean. The cleaners are cleaning all day long. Sturdy beds and big lockers in dorms. Staff are awesome. They are very friendly, knowledgeable and always happy to help. Right on the lake, so you can go for a swim anytime, and also very close to the main square for food and drink. Activities organised. Decent breakfast which is constantly topped up as it runs out, so there's always plenty to go round even if you have it last minute. Highly recommended.

Only 17 beds here, so super homely, clean place. AC in rooms all day which is great if you want to chill in your room. Customer service is exceptional, very friendly and informative staff, and they even save you breakfast if you tell them in advance that you want it after 10am. Really enjoyed my stay here. Better than some of the bigger hostels in my view. Lights out at 11pm so you get a good sleep. I met more people here than some of the bigger hostels, due to the type of people that stay here.

Decent hostel with nice pool area, BUT very bad manners from a staff member. She was constantly rude and upset many people, who like myself left early and stayed at another hostel. I took the numerous bad staff reviews with a pinch of salt due to them being a month old, but it looks like the greedy owner doesn’t care about the travelers experience due to its popularity, and ignored the numerous comments. I would suggest boycotting the ‘Che’ chain of hostels; we travelers need to stick together.

A hostel with immaculate bathrooms, and good sturdy bunk beds. Location is awesome. No real common area so not much of a social vibe, more like a hotel. Great WiFi in all rooms. It was perfect for me as I stayed at a more social/party place with a pool nearby, and now needed somewhere where I didn't mind if I didn't meet many people, just wanted good facilities.

Awesome place to meet people. Pool and breakfast area create a social atmosphere, and an easy opportunity to meet fellow travellers. You can bring your own alcohol into the hostel so the socialising is based around drinking. They also have cooking and free salsa classes each day. Most dorm rooms were outside and only had a fan, but was adequate. I also stayed at a nearby hostel next to cathedral but would recommend this place for the social, and the other for their facilities and quieter vibe.

Great social place. Easy to meet people due to the set-up of the place. Nice chilled out vibe. Showers have good pressure. Nice clean kitchen and fridge to use. They organise activities daily, which helps to meet other travellers. Staff very nice, they invite you to partake in their activities, i.e when they go to the beach they ask if you want to come along etc, which is really nice for solo travellers. Location is perfect, right in the thick of things. I was happy with my choice.

Only a quick overnight stay before heading to the airport early in the morning, so cannot do a full review. No lockers in room, and bathrooms far from room (different floor) was my only gripe. My large dorm was warm therefore windows were open hence a lot of road noise, ear plugs recommended if in this room. Decent common area, so has the ingredients for a good social atmosphere. Location is bang in the city centre so very convenient for public transport and nightlife.

Location is good for nightlife, so you can walk/crawl back home easily. I didn't meet many solo travelers whilst in South Korea due to lack of common rooms, but this hostel has a common room, and allowed meet to meet other travelers, which i think is essential when traveling alone. I didn't actually stay here, so ignore my numerical rating. When i arrived there had been an overbooking, but they kindly arranged for me to stay elsewhere (at another family members hostel). No staff present when i arrived though, and I was super lucky someone was leaving the property as i arrived, to let me in, and be able to connect with their wifi and chat online with the owner. It is basically a 2-3 bed apartment turned into dorms. Nice homely feel though, if that's what you want.

The female staff were excellent; they took time out to help you with any queries, but the guy working there seemed disinterested in helping you. He seemed very friendly but seemed to be addicted to the internet at the time when i asked him a question. He sort of just brushed me off with a vague answer so i would leave him, and so he could get back to his computer!
Hi, First, we apologize for any inconveniences at the hostel. I'm the hostel´s owner and i'll talk with the receptionist to see what happened. I appreciated all of reviews, because i think that's the way to fix the problems in the service... King Regards

I stayed there on a Thursday night and couldn't sleep at all. The room was never dark enough to sleep, but more importantly the bar/club next door plays some serious chest vibrating music til the very early hours of the morning, which was so loud it was somewhat funny; not the hostels fault, but nevertheless i would never stay there again even if you paid me, as i do like to have some sleep so i am not a zombie the next day! Nice staff working there.

Staff are superb here, making your stay enjoyable. A good non-cIiquey social vibe here, compared to the so-called party hostels, and you get a decent night's sleep as it's quiet after midnight, as you're away from the clubs; but only a 10 minute walk away should you want to party. Great place for watching movies and all sports with their huge screen. Close to supermarket and metro station. Ticked all my boxes.

Location inside a park is awesome. No kitchen, which is not a good thing, as eating out can get very expensive. They do have a microwave for use though, to heat up ready meals. Each bed has a curtain for full privacy which is pretty good, as it helps block out light. Did not really have the feel of a social hostel, where you could easily meet people, but they do have a lot of communal areas, so it could be the fact there were many long term stayers there, and also the type of travelers there.

Amazing FREE breakfast. FREE tea, coffee and soft drinks at the bar all day long. Lots of young staff working there, who are happy to chat to you if you are alone. Powerful showers. Hostel is next to river which is nice in the morning. Mattresses are a little old, but that is common in many hostels. I personally liked the general vibe here.

No kitchen, and they don't sell food, which can be tricky at night as the hostel is in the middle of a park. Bunk beds are the best i have stayed in. They are triple layered, but very sturdy and have brand new mattresses. The beds have individual curtains so you won't get woken up by inconsiderate people turning on/off the light all the time, unless you are on the top bunk, which you should try to avoid if you can, as it's right next to the light with no covering. The staff are really friendly.

The 6-bed dorm was very spacious. The shower was amazing, great pressure. The mattress was shockingly poor. You could feel the wire mesh on your body when you slept on it. Really difficult to raise any queries as there is no real reception for the hostel, just someone running down from the attached Walkabout bar.

The dormitories have huge heavy doors, which slam shut very loudly when opened/closed. So the larger the dorm the more likely you will get constantly woken up during the night as many people check in/out at all hours of the night.
Hi and thanks for taking time reviewing your stay with us. The hostel has big old doors but they should not slam at any time. We have now rectifies this issue and we do apologies for any inconvenience. We are hoping to see you again staying with us at Palmers Lodge

Decent free breakfast. Bit pricey for a hostel considering the facilities, as it has shockingly poor wifi, and below average bathrooms. They have cooking facilities which is a bonus for a longer stay.
Dear Hitesh Patel, Thank you for taking time to write us a review! We are happy you enjoyed your stay at the hostel.. We apologize if a few details didn't reach your expectations, but we took your comments on board. Also you are always welcome to back when you pass by London. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.

I stayed in a single room so was very comfortable. The landlord was especially welcoming, and created a nice comfortable place to stay.

A free breakfast. Great beds, with curtains, so you can shut out the light.

Decent enough hostel, but the people staying there at the time seemed dis-interested in meeting new people, they just had their heads in their laptops/iphones, but i guess this could be the norm for backpackers these days!

Rooms are very spacious, with lockers. Right next to underground station, so very convenient to get to/from.

The cleanliness of the hostel is first class, and it's a great location if you want to experience the nightlife along Sukhumvit Road. I'd definitely stay here if i visited Bangkok in the future.

Location of hostel is good, close to nightlife!! The hostel itself is very good, very clean, and the dorms are very airy and spacious with concrete structures for the bed, i.e. no squeaky beds!! Large common area to meet people. I would stay here again, even though it is a little pricey in comparison to other places!!

If you ignore the cost then it's a great hostel in terms of location, ease of meeting people, and cleanliness!!

Absoluely the cleanest hostel i`ve stayed at!! Staff were more than helpful, and spoke perfect English which really helped. And the staff were very knowledgeable about Kyoto, and knew the best way to get from A to B.

One of the cleanest hostels you will ever stay in. Staff speak fluent English and are very knowledgeable / helpful. I couldn`t say if this is the best hostel in Kyoto but I would definitely stay here again if i revisited Kyoto.

Proper homely feel here, a tiny place with only 2 dorms!! I was the only one there when i stayed here; a very quiet place!! But i didn`t mind as i was only there to see the sites and chill out / have an early night!! The location is perfect for seeing the temples, though it is a march up the hill (1.8 km - approx. 22 min walk!!) to get here from the train station. I didn`t mind walking, nice to stretch the legs after the train journey.

Plenty of capsules here, so you`re bound to find a bed here if you can`t find one elsewhere! Ended up here as other places were fully booked! If you want to experience a capsule i`d recommend staying in a capsule hotel, not here, as it`s pretty much the same price but in a hotel they will have air con / private tv, etc...!! This place charges 100 yen to use the showers which i think they should make clear on the website, which they don`t!! Can be hard to meet people here unless you get lucky!!

PERFECT location for a short stay, due to it`s location from the bus and train station, literally 50m across the road. Has a hot bath upstairs on the 4th floor which is worth checking out, and it`s free. Free internet, free tea/coffee. It wasn`t busy when i stayed here so didn`t really meet anyone, but i didn`t mind as it was only for 1 night and i was busy visiting mt fuji anyway!! Highly recommended for it`s location!!

Highly recommended for it`s homely feel, and ease of meeting people, and free breakfast (boiled eggs, toast, tea, coffee), which is rare in Tokyo. You meet many people at breakfast. It seems to attract very sociable and friendly people. Free internet too. Very close to the sumo area, and other good sites/areas nearby.

Staff were excellent; very warm and friendly. A very small hostel with a very homely feel to it. Location is smack bang in the town, right next to bars/clubs/shops.

I checked in at 9pm and checked out at 8am the following morning, so my stay was a very short one. But from what i saw i was very impressed with the hostel. The reception area was very welcoming and had lots of useful information littered about. The breakfast was very good. I didn't get to use all the facilities but i saw that there was a bar there and some table tennis / games room, and normally i would've used both had time permitted. All in all i think the hostel was excellent.
