A very well run hostel, toilets and dorms cleaned every day, good security system and good wifi. The bar and restaurant are great and the noise doesn't transfer at all to the dorms. Great location in the suburbs, overlooking a canal and close to two metro stations. Ticked all the boxes for me.

A great little hostel close to the centre and within walking distance of everything. Very clean, quiet and well maintained with good wifi. The staff attitude and friendliness was the best I have encountered for a good while and that's what makes a successful hostel. It certainly ticked all the boxes for me.

Not a bad place to stay although they have definitely filled every available space on the dorms with bunks so there Is very little room for luggage and sleeping so close together is a little off putting. Everything is strictly by the rules regarding check in and check out times, any infractions will cost you as will using a towel or requiring something printed on the computer. But it's the cheapest place in town.

Big Bed Hostel

Riga, Latvia

A newly opened place, a work in progress, the list of facilities more a wish list than fact. Other than beds there is not a single piece of furniture in the place, the staff sit on the floor, no computer so they will not know of your Hstelworld reservation until you show them and wifi Is intermittent at best. That said, the beds are comfortable, the place Is clean, the showers are hot, you will not find. cheaper place to sleep in Riga other than the river embankment. Nice staff, i wish hem well.

One of the nicest hostels I have stayed in. If you want a relaxing quiet place to stay this is it. Although a fair way out of the city, it's easy to get to anywhere by tram or bus. Cleanliness is exceptional and the staff helpful. The directions to get there are a little dysfunctional though. After the overpass (actually an underpass) walk 30 metres, turn left (not right) up the embankment, walk 50 metres to the left of the Gdanska St sign on the wall and you are there.

This hostel is close to train and bus stations, right on the edge of the Old Town so as near to everything you are going to want as you could get. Very friendly staff, they know what travellers want and do their best to provide it. Clean, spacious, good wifi reception. It worked for me, I was impressed.

A really nice hostel, exceptionally clean, lots of room in the dorms and air conditioned (there was a heat wave happening so I was pleased about that). Adequate shower and toilet facilities and great wifi reception. A quick 10 minute stroll to the old town and 15 minutes by tram to the bus and train stations. Very friendly and helpful staff, their recommendation for eating was spot on. For me this place is an example of how run a hostel right, They know what travellers want and provide it.

Really nice hostel, a little way out of town but easy to get to from the train and bus stations. The late check in time of 4pm is a bit of a pain, specially when I had to wait another hour after that for the bed to be ready. Good God Dora, how long does it take to throw some sheets on a bed? However after that everything was excellent, nice relaxing TV area and outback patio. Thanks to Keith for all the information and printing bus ticket. Would definitely stay here again.

My second review of this place. I returned for one night after a trip up into the mountains. For some reason the cleaner didn't turn up to clean the rooms so they didn't charge for the nights accommodation. Couldn't complain about that as everything else was great. Very helpful staff doing their best to make very one happy, and mostly succeeding. I'll be back one day.

A new hostel which deserves to succeed as the guys are really trying hard to do everything right. Very clean, each dorm has ensuite bathroom which is great as well as fridge and hot plate but no cooking utensils. Close to the railway station but a good walk to the centre of town. Wifi was a bit patchy but always worked in the reception area. I'm sure in time they will get all the information (train and bus times, Internet cafes, tourist sites etc) that travellers need but so far this is lacking.

Nice enough place, good location, right on the Octagon in the centre of the city. I wouldn't say it was one of he best hostels I have stayed in but it does the job. The only drawback is the distance from the city, otherwise this place is excellent. Spotlessly clean, good security and a great patio area for socialising. Had a very enjoyable stay in Hvar at The Helvetia. Couldn't fault the location although it would be hard to find anywhere that wasn't similarly accessible. They run a tight ship here, spotlessly clean, no noise after 11 and everything under control. The large lockers are the biggest I've seen, took my backpack comfortably. Wifi signal, although strong on the roof terrace was non existent in my dorm room but no problem there as the roof is a nice place to hang out.definitely recommended.

Anchi Guesthouse & Apartments

It's a bus trip or long walk to the old walled city but if you prefer to stay near the bus station for ease of arrival and departure this is definitely the place. It's more of an apartment than a hostel with cooking and eating facilities attached to each room. Very comfortable beds in a spacious room, nice restaurant (cheaper than eating in the main tourist area) nearby offering 10% discount to Anchi residents. Everything I needed for a comfortable two night stay.

Pretty good place in excellent location right on the square in the Old Town. Clean, safe and hot water.
