Charismatic architecture upon entry (hint: only take what you can carry up 4 flights of stairs, there is no lift!). Staff was great: friendly and knowledgeable. Room was good but recommend booking an ensuite rather than a shared bathroom. Kitchen area was tight, dining area large and roomy but would benefit from a table and chairs. Love the comments board. Thanks Il Ghiro and Florence, we hope to return someday.

Odd situation: checking in at another hotel then walking 2 blocks to a flat, but gave us good privacy and security. 1st check in lady was excellent. Breakfast was a voucher for coffee and croissant at cafe across the road with a surly barista who hates decaff, which made us feel welcome (not). Bathroom was dirty on arrival, made worse by the toilet blocking and filling the shower with sewage. However, staff and owner were accomodating with various showering solutions, perhaps needs new plumbing?

Unfortunately, for facilities, the hotel lobby was going through a renovation so things were cramped, especially as most facilities were on the ground floor and the kitchens / lounges are part of the lobby! The room stinked of smoke (non-smoking bedrooms would be nice) but had good facilities (TV, fridge, air con). The showers were OK. Location is good: a little bit dodgy for Osaka, but safe compared to anywhere else in the world, and close to the train station to the airport.

OK, so the owner did apologise for this when I arrived, but the elevator was not working, the hotel is on the 2nd floor (had to drag luggage up the stairs) and the only showers were in the basement, and not very tidy. That's pretty much it for facilities. The bedroom had a TV and fridge, but the room stinked of smoke (or dead bodies?). Apart from that, the location is amazingly convenient (literally across the road from the train station entrance) and it is CHEAP, so you get what you pay for.

Location has been mentioned before, but to be fair, for Tokyo it is reasonably close to a train
