El Salam Hotel

Aswan, Egypt
69%

Located right on the corniche in Aswan and easy access to everything. Staff are lovely and helpful. The hostel unfortunately is very depressing. Rooftop cafe/bar would be amazing but they've stopped using it and locked it up - not sure why. Room and bathroom needed to be cleaned. No hot water at all in our rooms - asked for it several times and they didn't fix it (can't believe they actually advertise 'hot water' and don't actually have it). Very noisy beside a marketplace. Overpriced IMO.

Boomerang Hotel

Luxor, Egypt
100%

One of the best hostels I've ever stayed in by far. It's owned and run by an Australian woman which really shows in the level of cleanliness of the rooms and facilities. Spotlessly clean, beds are like new, air con, secure. The rooftop bar is so nice to relax in. Right in the center of town so perfect location. Price is unbelievably cheap for what it is. Highly recommend. I was tempted to stay longer in Luxor just to enjoy the hostel a little longer.

4 Seasons Hotel

Hurghada, Egypt

Hostel is located right by a private beach area and pool that you can pay for access to (cheap and definitely worth it). The hostel room and beds were fine and quite comfortable but the bathroom/shower was filthy and hadn't been cleaned for ages. Spotted a few cockroaches in the halls. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Breakfast was horrible but free so can't complain.

Egyptian Night

Cairo, Egypt

Positives: Very central. Good location and view from balcony. Aircon is a plus. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Quiet and away from street noise. Negatives: Lots of cockroaches. Bed was broken and very uncomfortable. Piles of garbage and stray cats at the front door (kinda normal in Egypt but they could at least take it downstairs away from the hostel to avoid attracting pests). Owner smokes a lot in the lobby area and can smell it in the rooms.

Cairo Inn

Cairo, Egypt
74%

Positives: Very clean room and decent ensuite bathroom. Staff at the desk were really friendly and helpful with excellent English. Location is very central and handy. Aircon is good. Negatives: Extremely noisy. It's at street level with thin windows. If you're a light sleeper then forget about sleeping here. The owners of the hotel spend a lot of time sitting in the lobby right outside the rooms smoking. You can smell it in the rooms and the doors aren't soundproof.

Owner Comment (Hide)
hi Mr Donovan we would like to let you know that the one who was smoking was a guest at the hotel and he wasn't the owner . I am the owner who is writing to you and I don't smoke at all. second thing we are sorry about the noise but we located at the heart of downtown which give us highly recommended position in center of downtown .

Location's handy being so close to the train station but It's definitely overpriced in my opinion.

Great little hostel in the heart of Kazan. The only complaint I'd make is the poor security on dorm doors (one key for everyone).
