Pillows great but bed could be a tad bit softer. Room was nice overall but wifi was pretty non-existent in my room. The owner does his best to help out and the breakfast was good. Showers and room were clean and cleaned during my 2 day stay. Water pressure on the shower was good though the water could be hotter. People didn't seem keen to hang out so maybe not the best option for solo travelers. But I stayed here because I couldn't deal with the Kounsavans of the hostel world.
Tom & Co do their best to make your stay pleasant. Wifi can be patchy but that's Laos in general. Rooms are fine and there are security lockers in the common area for your valuables. The lockers under the beds should only have your backpacks and day packs - nothing else. Showers were clean and there was good water pressure. For those >30 do note that there's a lot of messing around going on with the young backpacker crowd, so get a private room or stay somewhere else and hang out here.
There was no wifi in the dorms up on the highest floor. The toilets were not the cleanest in the world and could have done with some hooks so you could hang your clothes/ towel without them falling off the little knobs on the wall. The bunks were also pretty wonky. Anytime anyone moves, the other feels it. Pillows were really, really nice on a positive note.
Great location, staff are helpful and this place is clean, wifi is good everywhere. They even have a massage chair you can use. Good value for money - for me!
Good beds and rooms in the four bed dorms but there's no wifi in the rooms; only in the lobby.. Not a great place to meet people I felt. Also it's not near The Bund and the trains (Lines 3,4) stop running pretty early; even on fri/ sat nights
Everything was great here apart from the fact that people switch off their Friendlines, Alfie and co were fantastic
Great hostel, good location great staff
Amy and Anne are great. They really go all the way to make up for the strange location of this hostel. Despite being indicated as in New Taipei Jiufen; the hostel really is a 12 min walk to Qido Train station, a 15 min train ride to Rui Fang and another 40 min bus ride to "Jiu Fen".... Despite this, Amy and Anne did their best to make my stay here pleasant with very granular advice re; transport and even offering train drop off/ pick up....
This was ok, apart from the fact that the security lock on the door was faulty and the guy who worked here old not come in. We had to break the door by force. Pretty nondescript stay here
Great location, a few mins walk from the Main Station. Close to loads of great local food and a number of 7-11s! Special mention to the staff: Jim and Ruby.... Jim planned out a day for me. His recommendations were spot on with my interests and I had a great day exploring Taipei. Both these guys were accomodating and helped me with stuff even after I checked out and returned to Taipei.
This is a great hostel and location . Bunks are good and steady; rooms and toilets are clean and nice too.. Loads of cool people around and the ground floor hang out area is great for meeting ppl. The guys who work here are great too. Very helpful and fun to chat with. One of the best hostels I've stayed in the world. Only one down side is that lots of the ppl here are youngish... But they are fun!
Love this hostel and is one of the best I've ever stayed in, in my many travels all over the world! Thought I'd do 3 days, but ended up spending my entire time in the Philippines in Boracay (at Frendz) for the first time in my life. This was because of the many friends I made and the hospitality of everyone working there! Great job folks. I might just come back to the Philippines again to chill out at Frendz!! Great location, brilliant place to meet people (esp with the crazy happy hours)!
OMP is a great place to meet people. It's conveniently located at Makati and there's tonnes of food options available around. Grace and everyone who works there have been really helpful and friendly. The dining area & chill out bits are good spots to meet people. OMP also does a walking tour of Intramuros and helps organize trips with others in the hostel. Great stay!!
The hostel hardware is great, but some elements of its software can be improved. The bar staff need to be more attentive and the bar should be kept open for longer! Love the pool area and the various chill out spots!
Not your typical hostel. Varied bunch of people staying in here. It's like a hostel you get in Switzerland, somewhat like a budget inn for all forms of travelers ranging from families to "travelers". Still its clean, safe, close to the city centre (bit of a climb, but that's just how Lux is!).
Pretty good hostel. Clean, you meet loads of ppl around. Smack in old town, can't ask for too much more...
Great hostel. They mean it when they say Party. Had lotsa fun, met lotsa cool people. Olga @ reception was great!
Good hostel. The staff were really helpful. The gate/ door was a tad bit difficult to find; so was the reception. But a good hostel nonetheless...
One of the best hostels I've stayed in. The lockers with plug points inside were brilliant for charging iphones/ ipads with security! Must say a personal thank you to Andreas (one of the bosses) who saw me wearing a Germany jersey and bothered to find out if I needed a visa to go to Ukraine to watch Germany play Portugal. Andreas got one of the front desk staff to email me the answer as I'd checked out. All the folks at the front desk were so helpful and friendly!
The hostel's hardware (rooms, cleanliness, facilities, etc were great
Very convenient, clean and functional. They have movie nights which can be a good way to meet people - however for some reason (the same) ppl travelling around Europe are not as friendly as they are when travelling around Aussie/ Asia or Africa - the mysteries of life!! Matea @ the reception was relly helpful and friendly. Plus the hostel does loads of Swiss souveniers you can pick up, Only 3-4 mins walk from the Main train station!

Great hostel - well done to Tina, and Onn on being so helpful/ friendly, and the two owners too.... Good work everyone!
This is a great hostel in terms of how clean and functional it is. In fact, its more like a boutique hotel than a hostel.
This is a great hostel, with high capacity and occupancy. Brilliant location. And they have great systems for everything; so it works out fine. The staff were generally very very helpful. The downside about it that Kabul was invaded by a huge group of college students (from a certain country- who think its normal to go around invading places with names like Kabul, baghdad, etc) and the chill out area turned out to be like a "frat party". If this is not your kinda thing, avoid it. But nonetheless, great place to stay wth clean toilets, and you do make a couple of mates.. I did! =)
