It's a good hostel overall, and I'd stay there again, but WOW does the downstairs need a deep cleaning. Dorm carpet needs to be replaced, there's water damage in the bathroom, and the shower walls have mildew. The staff room... guys, I know it's private, but when the door is left open it's visible to guests as they walk by. Rooms get cluttered over long stays, but if I see a mouse run from the staff room to the luggage room, there's a bigger problem.

Hi! The hostel is being refurbished, you probably seen the builders around so the problem you mentioned are all on their way to be fixed, thanks for your feedback. The staff room is private indeed. AM team

It's actually a solid hostel, but I wouldn't recommend booking the private room. The main complaint? THE NOISE. The window doesn't fully close which makes the loud construction noise outside even worse. Sound also carries down the hallway where the private room is located so we could hear other guests in varying states of inebriation coming and going at all hours of the night, then the cleaning crew would show up and make noise all morning. Stick to the dorms and you'll be fine.

Hostel Magdalena-Lena

I'm sorry to leave a negative review because I like Lena and her mother, but I can't recommend this. It's not in a very nice part of town and the gate to the courtyard was left unlocked all night. Speaking of the courtyard, it wasn't made clear that the back part is owned by a local family. Which lead to a VERY uncomfortable incident when I walked into what is essentially their backyard, thinking it was part of the hostel. The shared bathroom also needs to be cleaned more often.

If I ever make it back to Sarajevo, I wouldn't even think of staying anywhere else. I'll echo everyone else's comments by saying that Dzemal (hello from Baltimore!) and his mother are absolutely fantastic hosts. The rooms are clean and secure, and it's located in a good neighborhood a couple minutes walk from the Bascarsija.

Great place. We booked the private/shared en suite and it really is a great value for the money and in a convenient part of the city. Reception really went out of their way to help their guests too. I watched as one of the girls at reception helped two helpless American dudes basically book their entire vacation. She was very patient and accommodating to say the least. Only complaint is that the cleaning staff was a little loud some mornings.

Great rooms in the heart of the Old Quarter. Staff was helpful and professional. The tour to Halong Bay on the San Souci boat we booked through the hostel was excellent value for the money. Definitely recommended.

Probably my favorite hostel I've ever stayed at. The owner is an English guy named Mark who is an awesome host. He's handpicked the staff and tuk-tuk drivers, who are awesome as well. The hostel is less than 5 minutes walk to the restaurants/markets in Siem Reap. Definitely recommended.

Very helpful staff, good location in the backpacker district. The alley has tons of character and is a welcome respite from the general madness of Saigon. Generally very clean, except that there was a sewage smell coming from the shower drain. Keep the bathroom door closed and you'll be fine.

Hotel Richard

It's a good place to stay for the money you pay. The major complaint I had is that it is dirty. It's close to a metro so even though it is close enough to walk to some sights, you can always take the metro to the ones that are further away. It's also close to a lot of shops, cafes, grocery stores, and most importantly Jim Morrison's grave. :) Oh, and the internet kiosk they have in reception is ridiculously expensive.

Room was very cramped and hot, the guy at reception working the night shift was unhelpful, and it's in a seedy part of the city. We found another hotel for the same price and had a much better experience with them.

Great place to stay, just a little too far to walk from a lot of the sites.

Good hostel. Easy to find and clean, within walking distance of the castle/old town. Especially loved the "Hostel" themed bar in the basement. The only inconveniences are that it's a long walk to find a grocery store, and also there aren't enough showers/toilets to accomodate all the guests in the mornings.

The grocery store is about 2 minutes by walk from the hostel, but you have to ask the staff to show you the way. We have 7 bathrooms with shower and WC for 48 people......

Clean hostel, but it's too far from the city center and there isn't a kitchen. Also the extras like meals ($16 for chicken wings and salad) and internet ($6 per hour) are way too expensive.

Best hostel we've stayed at so far! Within walking distance to most of the major attractions. The staff were very helpful and there was a good overall vibe. Would definitely stay here again.
