Ostello Dante, Ravenna, Italy

9th Aug 2016

It takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the city center of Ravenna and there is a big supermarket nearby which remains open until late. There is also a privat parking lot without extra charge in front of the youth hostel. We didn't have to pay the extra 2 Euros for not having a valid youth hostel affiliation, just the local tourist tax.

Nice location in the city center in a renovated part of a historic building. The rooms and kitchen were modern and agreeable. There are actually 3 bathrooms (two of which were actually usable). Sometimes we had to wait some time to find a free one at rush hours (in the morning before breakfast).

We loved the atmosphere and the hearty welcome by the staff. The situation in the center of the old town is excellent. Breakfast was limited in choices but we had worse in other places. We were allowed to use the kitchen whenever we needed it. Electric installations looked hazardous but worked without any accident.

We liked the friendly staff at the reception and found all the comfort we had have expected. There is a bus to the Vatican for 5 Euros (both ways) and local transports to get to Rome. There is also a swimming pool with limited opening hours (10 am to 8 pm, if I remember well) which could be longer as peopled waited in the morning for the opening and were forced to leave in the evening when they might have stayed longer.

Thank you for you comment! You remembered well the pool is open everyday from 10.00am to 8.00pm and on Saturdays until 10.00pm (June to Agust)

Well situated and nice staff. Breakfast was also great, with delicious jam in home made looking jars - even if it comes from the supermarket. We liked the place. Just note that the busses don't go there directly on Saturday and Sunday and you have to walk a bit further if you arrive on a weekend.

We liked the room which was quite nice and calm, even if we had to drag our stuff up to the third floor with any lift. There is a nice kitchen and common room and even a market more or less in front of the hostel. Using the tramway, you get directly to the city center without any need to change.

It is essentially a classic youth hostel. It is not in the city center but there is a reduced parking fee if you go there by car. We have come by car and it was all right, but I guess if you use public transportation, it might be much more tiresome to get around. Breakfast was basic, but nothing to complain about.

It says Sorrento but you won't find it under Sorrento if you use your GPS because it is just a few steps outside of Sorrento in the close neighborhood and you have to walk about 20 minutes to get to the city center. It is much like the a collection of second class hotel rooms in the basement that you share with other people and actually less expensive than the rooms upstairs, but you share the common rooms and breakfast with the regular hotel guests.

Everything is new and perfect. The hostel is quite successful and has much people coming. The common rooms are agreeable but often crowdy and loud in the evening. The kitchen is perfect, but being there so many people, you may have to wait to find an empty place were to sit and prepare your food. It is situated one street behind the central station and it takes no more than 10 minutes to walk to the city center.

A nice and friendly place with a big central reception and sitting area which invites contacts and exchanges. It is true that there is only one big bathroom with the showers and restrooms, but we didn't have to wait at any time during our stay. The hostel is one stairs up (second floor if you consider the ground floor to be the first floor) and we had to pain with our heavy luggage, but one of the staff came readily to help us. We keep excellent memories and wouldn't mind to return there again.

It is essentially a Motel where you can leave your car in front of your room. We liked the land lady who speaks well German and Italian. We can't complain about the room either as we have even been upgraded in respect to our initial reservation. It was quiet and we have spent two excellent nights there. Complementary breakfast was "simple but free", as the sign in the breakfast room explains. The Motel is 5 miles from the city center, but you need a car anyway to get around.

A nice and clean place to spent a night or more. The kitchen is quite cosy and well equipped. The town is not quite as interesting as Helsinki and one gets quickly around. We did appreciate the public saunas which are better and more original than those actually available in Helsinki (at least in my judgement).

Thanks for the kind words. You are right about the awesome public saunas here, although, we think that Tampere is a much cooler place than Helsinki! Miia / Dream Hostel & Hotel

A quite convenient place if you want to spent the whole day wandering around Rome. There is a shuttle bus to the next train and subway connection every 30 minutes between 8 am and 11 pm for 1 € both ways (return ticket) and the train and subway ticket, 1.50 € for 90 minutes, takes you to most of the interesting tourist spots of the eternal city. Hi there! Thanks very much for letting us know! Of course there are many bloodthirsty buggers out there but bed bugs normally leave an itching "street" of dots, like a pointed line. No hotel or hostel is 100% safe no matter how sterile the place is. If you ever suffer from those bastards please let us know immediately! Even if it's only you. We have to check and eventually treat the room accordingly. - Kill them! Kill them all!! Gollum! - I'm sorry. Thanks again. Have a great time!

The location is perfect, coming from the central train station you cross the pedestrian precinct and reach the hostel/hotel within 10 minutes. It is actually a hotel with a budget rooms section, a perfect place if you have to spent a night between two flights. There is a good railway connection between the railway station and the airport. They have also two electric plugs with a shelf at each bed which comes very handy if you have any gears to charge. Unfortunately, there was no free WiFi.

Luggage storage is proposed in free lockers in the court, but we had a suitcase which didn't fit in any of the lockers, but we managed to deposit it at he railway main station next doors, so this was not any real problem either.

A very nice place to stay. Manny, the proprietor takes a real personal interest in every guest and helps as much as he can, offering lifts to different places, helping out with meals and giving good advice. The atmosphere is somewhat family like with guests from many different countries. I somewhat regret we did not stay longer. There is also a supermarket near by, but the only regret might be that it is difficult to get around in Orlando with public transports if you do not have your own car.

The location is excellent, just outside the central train station and the stuff was very friendly, helpful and good-humoured. We stayed only one night, but we didn't find anything to criticize. We had been to the Wombats hostel in Berlin before, and the way it works (new bed sheets in plastic, personal locker in the room that work with the electronic room key, etc.) was the same.

Perfect location just in front of the central train station with a direct line to the airport. Don't forget to write you name on the list for the free pasta as soon as you arrive and enjoy the breakfast which is served from 7 am onwards - unless you have to catch an early flight, as we had to, and go without it. The surrounding night and day life near the central station (including gambling and prostitution) may not be so attractive but it is the perfect place to stay for one night on your way.

It is a decent place to stay and not far away from anywhere in the city. The Underground station of Rosa Luxemburg Platz is just next doors and you can even walk to Alexander Platz. There is a nice view of the surroundings from the roof top bar or the hostel until 10 pm when it closes the door to go out to protect the neighbors from the noise. The room was proper and clean with its own bathroom. You get fresh linen when you arrive at the reception and need a key for each floor and room.

We felt quite at home and loved the dogies on the bed sheets. We got good advice as what to go to visit and when. The place looked very cozy and being a small structure, it was easy to get to know everyone who stayed there. I remember that we passed a lovely evening paying a game with the flags of the world where the landlady proved to be an expert, but I guess she has had occasions of playing at this game before. The only difficulty we have noted was the absence of a second shower at rush hours

An excellent place to stay especially if you are traveling with your own car. There are nice wood bungalows with two beds each. It's a quiet place and we slept very well all night, but there is also a free disco, a paying swimming pool and a grocery shop of the camping. We were afraid of mosquitos bites, but it wasn't actually that bad. There is a private bus to rejoin the public transportation system (underground trains) for 1 Euro each ride until 9 pm.

Excellent value for money in a clean and calm place. We found all the quietness and calm you could wish for after a long and tiring day of visiting. They offer an opportunity to get an excellent breakfast at the hotel next doors for a fair price. If you are interested, they ask you to book it the day before, that is to say, before they go away at 11 p m

Excellent situation because you can get everywhere by foot. There was a small kitchen at our disposal which was quite nice and helpful. WiFi worked well in the reception area, but less so in our room. The heating system worked even too well during our second night before breaking down, but a couple of added blankets helped us to sleep well, although we were woken regularly between 2 a m and 4 a m, be it by the noise of drunken youngsters in the street, an fire alarm or some drunken guests.

A good and relatively quiet place still in walking distance from the central station (but not as near as some other accommodations)

Thank you Dieter for your comment. With the S-Train just one stop to Central Station and two more stops to the City Center (Marienplatz). From the Hotel to the Train Station it is fifteen minutes by walking distance. And in 10 minutes by foot you're on the best beer- party of the year, "Oktoberfest". you have any questions, problems or do you need information for Munich, please come to the reception. We're here 24 hours for you.

Reading all the positive comments, it is difficult to add anything that hasn't yet be said and one arrives with very high expectations... but I haven't regretted my choice. If you travel by plane, I would recommend to buy your bus ticket from the airport to Stockholm and back - once you know at which airport you arrive - online at www.flygbussarna.se. It's cheaper and you won't have to queue up to get a ticket at the airport but you'll be able to board the bus at once and choose a nice seat.

Hi expectations can be challenging, I'm proud we managed to meet up to yours! Thanks for the bus ticket tip, too, and see you next time you're in the hood, Cheers Lena

We have been impressed by all the efforts the landlord, Stefano, undertook to make our stay agreeable: he came to fetch us at the airport, accompanied us to the old town center (Castello) and proposed to fetch us whenever we wanted (and with no extra charge) at the bus stop or the beach. We have had a lovely room with access to a big balcony having a marvelous view over the whole beach and city center. Breakfast was a real treat with home made marmalade outside on the terrace. I recommande it

An excellent place to stay, well located, friendly and helpful staff, big bathrooms with shower. There is also a kitchen facility and the hostel is situated on the first floor of an ancient building quite in the center of the popular part of Pest (Budapest having two halves on either side of the river: Buda and Pest) as opposed to the "tourist sector" near the river where the prices tend to double. But you get there easily as well walking just for 5-10 minutes.

Even if the showers are rather (too) small and the kitchen and common room not quite big enough for the number of beds available (and guests), it rests an excellent value for the little money it costs. We had an electric heater in our dorm and when you remembered to turn it on early enough in the evening, we slept very well all night without having cold. I have had no regret about my choice to spend here a week.

Rooms get smelly but I managed by just opening the windows and it isn't actually that cold outside! The temperature of the showers is often somewhat tricky. It may change from one moment to another as someone opens or closes a watertap somewhere else in the building, but I found that if I took my shower at an "unpopular time" like 8 pm or 6 am, there wasn't any problem. Perhaps, if all the people at the hostel didn't get discouraged to use the showers, the rooms wouldn't smell bad.

Well situated if you travel by underground. You can go from here everywhere quite quickly. Rooms are in a flat on the ground floor of an ordinary apartment house. There is no staff waiting at the reception and be careful to be precise as to the hour of your arrival, or you might wait in front of the door until someone comes by. Otherwise an decent and quiet place to spend your night.

Very well situated. Use underground station Barberini if you don't want to walk from the train station Roma Termini. There is a room with a private bath room, but the shower doesn't actually work. Situated near the back of the central train station, it is very easy to reach when you arrive by plane and take a train from the airport (trains about every 10 minutes, ride less than 15 minutes, third stop, fare 30 DKK). There are nearly at all times streetwalkers in front of the hotel, but they don't incommodate customers of the hotel - at least as long as you don't look at them. There are several night bars around, but the hotel is calm.
