Brilliant hotel, great value, swimming pool is top notch, same with gym. Problem is location, it's far away from even the Skytrain, taxi to the BTS is about 60baht. We struggled to get taxis back, take the address with a map for drivers and hope for the best.

Great location, very near main backpacking area but down a lane so away from noise. Staff were nice at reception, breakfast staff did not seem interested at all.

Good location, not far from the main river. Breakfast was decent, chef waiting to make egg based items (omlette etc). As other comments, pool is strange right beside the tables but in the afternoon could be nice for a dip.

We came to sapa in cold, cold weather, the Pumpkin staff did a great job to make us comfortable with in room heater, electric blankets and extra covers - top marks. Hotel was nice with good TV (handy when the fog stopped any form of outdoor activity) and good wifi.

Average all around really, a little bit outside of the main area. Seemed to be work going on whilst we were there. Wifi was down for the duration which was inconvient to say the least. Not a massive amount of social space.

Bathrooms had good facilities but floors are always wet, with shoes left outside this is a bit manky, Good location and decent wifi. Seemed to be quite a lot of people hanging around downstairs who didnt appear to be guests, I heard my room door being tried when inside, no one there when I opened it - may be nothing but made me wonder...

Nice location just down the road from the busy pubs far enough for peace but close enough to walk up in a matter of minutes. Great view from the balcony to the river and mountains. Water tended to go off most days, the staff put this down to the local water board, bit annoying but not the end of the world as it came back on in time.

the hostel mucked up our booking and so put us in another hostel nearby, Oasis Guesthouse. Our 'double room' was 2 twin beds in a box room with nothing else. The door was practically falling off. Bathrooms were disgusting - basically 2 toilets with showers stuck on the wall, no sinks. No space and nowhere to put anything. The washing machine emptied it's water onto the floor through a hole in the wall in one toilet. Cockroach in my wash bag. Didn't deduct the deposit from overall cost.

Lockers were broken and had no doors so nowhere to keep your items, dorms were really messy with items all over the floor. Rest of hostel was good, great location, good outdoor social area. Free hire of items like snorkels was excellent. Seems quite expensive overall.

We arrived really early in the morning and the staff were great at helping us, even though we couldn't check in yet. Our room got very cold at night, drafty windows. Breakfast was good. No real social area to sit, except downstairs but TV was always blasting. Great location, 5 minute walk to main plaza, but no bars nearby. Good kitchen facilities.

Loved this hostel, from the very start with a pickup by Vini at the bus station we felt like wanted guests. Great location at the beach, the main street is a 20 min walk away but don't let that put you off, amazing beach is right across the road, 30 seconds walk. Good bar and lots of guests around for drinking, hostel is well built so noise does not travel upstairs if you want a sleep!

Outside shower was never hot and constantly leaking, so floor was filthy. Upstairs, one shower was out of order, one cold, and only one hot. Kitchen was good and breakfast was nice. Welcome introduction was excellent with useful information on the city. Room walls were very thin so quite noisy. No lockers in private room. Brilliant location 5 mins from metro stop.

Hi there, thank you for your review. We're happy you enjoyed the good info on the city, as well as the super breakfast. All showers: Fixed that same day. There's no need for an extra locker in your room, since your private room is lockable with your room key. If you would have let us known that this was a problem for you, we would have offered to store your valuables in our office free of charge. Happy travels!

Brilliant location just off Kennedy Park. There are 3 flying dogs hostels in Lima and it wasn't clear which one we were in, so we went to the wrong one initially. Our hostel didn't have a bar so there wasn't much socialising/atmosphere. Double room was lovely and big but there were quite a few hairs in the bathroom, and there was no wifi at our end of the hostel.. Kitchen facilities were okay. Overall good value for money.

This could be a great hostel but there was no atmosphere/nothing going on. Double room was good, shared showers clean. Pretty basic kitchen. External social area means when it's cold there's nowhere to go apart from TV room. We arrived at 5am and they let us sit in the TV room - very grateful, thank you. Also baggage storage is great.

Double room in 3-6 had a massive smell problem, drains stunk the room out, really unpleasant. Staff were friendly but rather disorganised, what event was on in what part of the hostel was a guesssing game. Checkin was a bit crazy. Overall should be a good hostel, nice beer and good bars, just missing some spark!

Party hostel as described, fun people, friendly staff. No kitchen for guests to use but good reasonable food served all day. My only issue is smoking, smokers should be kicked outside where they belong, not inside where food is served. I realise this is Bolivia but its also 2013.

We stayed 6 nights and didn't once have an enjoyable shower. Either boiling hot or freezing cold (second floor showers). Kitchen is well stocked and hammock area is lovely. BBQ was nice way of meeting people. Hostel was quite empty so not great atmosphere. Staff were friendly and tours were available. About a 15min walk into central town or 5mins to metro. Overall good value for Santiago. Plugs in room didn't work with our UK-South American adaptor, only USB charger in TV room worked.

A nice chalet feel to this hostel, a little 10 walk for, the town and up a hill but gives some superb sunset views. Staff were very friendly, above any we have came across in South America, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and helpful. Rooms were very clean, great ensuite bathrooms. Common area is large, to floors with plenty of space for everyone. Kitchen is a bit small and lacks cutlery. Brilliant breakfast.

Hands down the best kitchen we have encountered in Argentina, well stocked, clean and a good size. Staff were always on hand, knowledgable and friendly. Rooms were basic (lack of lights or shelfs), but very clean and good sized lockers. Comfy beds though the top bunk is a fair leap down in the morning! Location is superb, the same street has nice lively pubs (though no noise at the hostel), nearby is supermarkets and the main streets.

Sociable hostel in a good location, 10mins from the center and a few k south of the General San Martin Park. Good selection of daily tours and events. Very friendly and helpful staff. Four bed dorm was well layed out, good ensuite added to the value. No wifi in the rooms, probably good for socialising! Three modern pcs available for internet use. Breakfast was great as per the other reviews, plenty of selectom even near 10am. Kitchen lacked glasses and plates, one letdown overall.

Backpackers Hostel Salta

Lively, friendly hostel with good facilities. We moved here from another hostel in Salta and were very glad we did. Only downside was the bathrooms, which were very basic and limited. One shower had a glass door opening directly onto a courtyard where people were sitting - it didn´t feel very private! Garden, living room, bar, and pool area great to sit and relax in. It was a bit of a walk to get into town, but only 15 minutes or so. Limited power sockets in the bedrooms.

Good location but the hostel was very quiet and had nothing going on. It advertises a laundry service but this isn´t available. Kitchen is basic. Bathrooms were clean but very old and cramped. There was dirt and stuff under the bed when we arrived. Rooftop terrace is nice though (when it´s not too hot to sit there!)

Great location, just need the Thong Lor Skytrain stop, handy for little shops and stalls around that area but off the main road to quiet. Staff are very friendly and go out of their way to make your day. Free toast and tea for breakie, all makes a good stop over.

77%

Good hostel very handy for the metro system and quite easy to find. Close to lively area and night markets and people watching. Good communal area, bar with cheap food and beer, large projector tv for movies, ps2. Friendly and helpful staff. Only downside I really had was the tours offered by the hostel, I wasn't informed these would be in Chinese and therefore very awkward when no one on the tour spoke English....

As other comments, a bit difficult to meet fellow travelers, a few more organised evening events would help.
