Be careful if you book a double room. Room 13 and those next door have windows opening on to a neighbouring yard with roosters and chickens so you will not sleep after 5am (or before the bar quietens down at night either). Staff pretended they had no idea about the issue and couldn't move us to a better room so we had to leave early

Hostal Los Salares

No one mentions the shocking position of this hostel. It's only a small town however the hostel is way out. Across a river, down a highway and up a dirt road which means u are completely stranded from any food or services when it rains as we found. No one speaks English so impossible to book a tour with them. Also even though all tours to salt flats including their own leave at 8am the don't serve breakfast till 830am and refuse requests for it earlier! Not worth the money to stay here

Great backpackers, one if the best in SA! Very friendly and helpful staff and owners who go out of their way to help however they can when other services such as baz bus seem to go out if their way to screw you over. Amazing location right in town of a beautiful place. More backpackers should go there! The garden with hammocks everywhere and a braai every night is perfect. Couldn't recommend this place highly enough!

Nice place and a good (short) break from the big cities. Just needs updating about facilities on hostelworld. There is no basement or bar and no drinking allowed onsite and when we stayed were told the banya is closed even though a group of us wanted to use it

Godzillas Hostel

Great facilities/location and fun. Only downside were staff. We saw a very distinct change in staff attitudes towards us when we refused their 600r visa registration service despite us knowing that with our number of days there we didn't have to register. They tried to convince us we had to and even lied about the law on this. Quite disappointing as u expect help from hostel staff, not lies and greed. So know the law, don't be bullied by staff and u will be fine.

Soul Kitchen Hostel

We were only there three nights and it felt like home. Only downside was they set us up to expect amazing things in Russian hostels from now and we can only be disappointed. Alise, the staff member on most of our stay is amazing. Not only were we given breakfast but so many other free things which make all the difference when backpacking... She'd cook us something amazing for dinner free each night, washing machine/powder free to use, free beer etc! Great friendly atmosphere. Stay here!!
