This is the best value hotel in the whole of Germany, I think. Yes, it is a bit old-fashioned and worn out but the beds and the showers are good, although there is only one shower per floor. The breakfast is magnificent but at times very very busy. Safe bet. If you want a hip or trendy boutique hostel, do not go there but otherwise: do go there!
Take care with this hostel. The original old town hostel is ok with aircon and all the facilities but they have a second branch 50 meters further down the street in a house that is a real dump: no aircon, no fridge, extremely small and very expensive twins. A lot of rubbish in the house. Please cancel any reservations there: absolutely no value for money.
Very good and welcoming guesthouse. Nato does everything to make you feel welcome. Price for a room is extremely good value. One disadvantage: the beds are made of wooden planks with a 3cm layer of foam, which means not a real mattress. My back disagreed on that: it was painful. Otherwise I was very happy with the grand winetour and the davit gareja day excursion.
Very savvy guesthouse owner. Terrace is perfect for meeting other travellers. Big spacious rooms with airconditioning.
This is a good value for money hostel with a few flaws. It has no lockers in the room. You don't get sheets, only blankets and the rooms are cramped. I also missed a reading light. On the plus side there was an ensuite bathroom and toilet in my 4-bed dorm. The mattresses are thick and comfortable. The breakfast is also included although it is a very simple one. The location is excellent near Metrostation Republique and right next to canal Saint-Martain. there's a cheap dia supermarket nearby.
Very good hostel and close to the rynek, only a few hundred meters. One weird thing though: because we booked so long beforehand we could not get a free breakfast while on Hostelworld it was clearly stated that breakfast was included. Of course this is a detail, but it is the first time I encountered this and I slept in more than 150 hostels. Overall excellent value for money and modern facilities. Nice common room with comfortable couches.

This was a former four star hotel so there"s a lot of space. One minor thing: one night 2 people could check in at 1.30 AM in the morning while I was sleeping. They could have put them into another room, it was not customerfriendly at all. But when I complained about that the next morning at reception I got a free breakfast voucher. That was ok for me. BTW: the breakfast is all-you-can-eat for only 3.4 euros which makes it a very good deal.
Wombats the lounge is only at 100 meters from Vienna Weststation and the metrostation which brings you to the city centre in no time. There's a very cheap supermarket called Penny and another more expensive Billa very close to the hostel. The street is filled with all kinds of shops and cheap restaurants which is very convenient. Breakfast at the hostel is less than 4 euros and all-you-can-eat. A very good deal! Stay there!
This is the best chain of big hostels. I have already stayed in Wombats Berlin, Vienna and Prague to my great satisfaction. Maybe the budapest one is the best one because it used to be a four star hotel, so you have a lot of space. Moreover, at 1000 forint ( 3,4 euros) the all you can eat breakfast is a real bargain. The staff is very efficient and friendly and service oriented. Stay there.
This is a Soviet-like hostel with no character, style or atmosphere. This place is meant for big groups. As an individual traveller, it is hard to get to know other people. This international youth hostel federation hostel does what it is supposed to do, but nothing more. Private hostels are way better. Unfortunately, this is the only hostel in Mechelen.
I visited more than 150 hostels in my life and hostel one Paralelo is definitely in my top 10. In particular I liked the free breakfast and the free dinner. Yes, it's totally free, believe me. However, you can give some money to make sure future guests can also get free meals. For solo travellers, it's very easy ease to interact with other guests. There's one thing though: don't do the so-called 'ghost tour': it's a whole lot of walking, a tiny bit of talking and very poor English.
Solid no-frills hostels. What you see is what you get.
This is a pretty good value for money hostel in a quiet neighbourhood 'de Jordaan'. It's close to Egelantiersgracht and 2de Egelantiersdwarsstraat with the best and hippest restaurants and bars of Amsterdam. There could have been more toilets upstairs. What also struck me that there was online wifi censorship when I tried to read a critical article on God on the m.volkskrant-website; kind of weird actually.
I actually moved to Venezia garden, their second outlet, 500 meters from Venezia Homestay. They have a very good value for money airconditioned 6-bed dorm there with an ensuite bathroom with modern solar powered hot shower. Breakfast is very simple: one banana pancake, some toast or fried noodles. The manager is rarely seen at the premises and should improve his 'management skills'; one evening, an American couple that wanted to check in, could not because no manager or staff was present.
This is a very good hostel: aircon in the dorm is a superb thing. Normally you don't get that in a hostel. Two small disadvantages: noise from the street traffic and no windows in the dorm. Some guests are very rude and impolite, this means very noisy even after 11PM in the dorm, gets you out of your sleep, even with earplugs. Not very handy if you have to catch a flight to Jogja at 5.50AM. Another small thing: no seats and covers in the male toilets, so I had to use the female toilet
Very professionally run hostel. Mrs. Lee arranged a no hassle daytrip for me to the capital of brunei with personal driver for extremely good value. On the last day when I got very sick after having seafood, she cleaned my mess with a smile and she was very empathic: you deserve 100%, that's for sure!
One of the cheapest hostels on my trip in Malaysia and simple breakfast included. Only if you can bear fans instead of proper airconditioning. Limited presence of staff. Overall a very good hostel. (Maybe they should buy buy a proper toaster instead of a small oven to toast bread, much handier and better for the environment.)
Overall very good hostel but I hated the fact there was no real hot water in the showers. breakfast is very simple. Very good value for an expensive city like singapore in the middle of Chinatown. airport is easy to reach from the hostel.
excellent value for money especially the singles. Mind you, no airconditioning, just fans
Really good hostel with an excellent breakfast. The location couldn't be more central. Very good value because it has airconditioning in all the rooms.
Excellent value for money
Better than average hostel, facilities need an update. best option in coimbra, which is a sleepy universitytown.
Excellent hostel with interesting activities organised by the hostel itself
Almost perfect hostel
The bathrooms on the third floor were not clean. The kitchen on the third floor was full of junk; one bathroom was under construction but no obvious signs of someone doing the job. also a lack of toiletpaper. The refrigerators in the kitchen on the third floor really smelled bad because they were not cleaned either. breakfast was ok though and staff also except for the cleaning team. would definitely not come here again for hygienic reasons.
Nice hostel, flamboyant and cheerful Australian hostelowner Eddy and of course a very kind and helpful staff that are always there to help. Special thanks to Oksana for her spontaneity and charm: I hope you\'ll enjoy your trip to Germany.
