Apartment Eperonniers 56/1 b

Brussels, Belgium

We were given a massive free upgrade to a beautiful, three story apartment. Extremely comfortable beds, really nice facilities, and with a great location on the quieter end of Rue des Bouchers. A really lovely property, and if I ever come back to Brussels, I would definitely stay here again! Many Thanks!

Lybeer Travellers' Hostel

Bruges, Belgium

The hostel is very conveniently located, about 1 km from the main train station (a walk through a park, very scenic) and within the old city center of Bruges. Currently undergoing renovations, the lobby and the bedroom design features ( a four-person room) were very nice, though our bunk beds were pretty uncomfortable and held together by a lot of duct tape (as was the stair railing). The en suite bathroom was very nice and the hostel overall was very clean.

Hostel Van Gogh

Amsterdam, Netherlands

We, a party of four, booked a four-person private room. We were given a six-person room instead, but we still had it all to ourselves, so that was just fine. The location of the hostel was very convenient, since we wanted to see the van gogh museum and it was right across the street, and the price was not bad for Amsterdam (lodging in Amsterdam is a bit expensive in general, I would say). The room was quiet and clean, and the en suite bathroom was nice. A very good single-night stay.

It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. The bathrooms were really nice, with rainfall showerheads, and the bartender downstairs was super friendly and sweet. The building is really pretty and the common room and breakfast area are very nice. However, I feel like we paid a bit much for the quality of the dorm room, and I also got 6 or 7 mysterious bites (hand, arm, leg, hip, back, thumb, fingertip) during our stay there, which itched unmercifully. So, all considered, average.

We got a free upgrade from an 8-person room to a 6-person room (the size of our party), so that was a great start. The room was clean, comfortable, and had an en suite bathroom, which was very convenient. Security was excellent, the staff members were all very helpful, and we were about a block from a subway station. Excellent stay!

Pension Glockenhaus

Innsbruck, Austria

Simply lovely. We had reservations for a 6-person room, but were bumped up to a 4-person room for no extra cost. Nice! The room was warm and cozy and comfortable, the bathrooms clean and convenient, and the whole property gave more of a bed and breakfast feel rather than a standard dormitory environment. Nice place!

Happy Inn Lodge

Interlaken, Switzerland

Staff was extremely unfriendly, and they also man the (loud, crowded, smoky) bar downstairs, rather difficult to get in touch with. Live (and crappy) music blared until after midnight. They didn't have sufficient room keys, so you had to check them out at the bar, so we had to wait and try to get the staff's attention. Not convenient. The dorms were shoddy- the beds, the floors, the door- everything creaked and was noisy, so it was impossible for us (or any roommates) to come in or out quietly.

Barbieri International

Madrid, Spain

Located in Chueca, a nice, safe neighborhood with lots to do. Nice and helpful staff, one of the ladies went out of her way to help us arrange transportation to the airport.Comfortable beds. You don't get a key for your room, and it costs to have a locker. Street outside is very loud, all night. No locks on the bathroom stalls, and sometimes no toilet paper. A nice place, overall. Would recommend.

Alberg Gaudi

Barcelona, Spain

Rather sketchy, altogether. Lots of extra fees. Weird 11pm curfew. Cranky male staff member, nice female staff member. Rooms were sort of dirty. We reserved a four-bed room, but were given an 8-bed room with four people in it. This was considered good enough. Not a terribly convenient location. Would not recommend this one.

ACE - Apartment

Manager was the friendliest person we met in Prague. Very nice, six-room hostel, very clean and close to old town attractions. Highly recommended and quite economical.
