Good experience and the sleeping was not bad either because the pod walls are fairly thick. The views from the male onsen (baths) and its little outdoor terrace are great. After the soaking session, I sat with a beer on the terrace in the provided pyjamas for an hour enjoying the views, so relaxing! Girls should be able to enter this terrace as well, it is separate from the men's bathing area.

Typical backpacker´s place with social events and helpful staff. Location is good with plenty of good eateries around.

Helpful staff, clean, nice common room for reading and eating and good location. The private rooms are pricey and (eat least ours) not very big. The shared rooms on the first floor (same building) are a much better option as they are bigger and have a nice indoor-terrace kind of place with a sofa, washing machine and shared bathrooms for a much better price.

Sort of boutique backpackers hostel with large comfortable bunk beds and good facilities. Good value, great staff and excellent location.

Maybe we were unlucky with room nr 15 across the street from the owner´s office but it was definitely not what it looked like on the pictures. A small damped room with a little window (no balcony, no sea view) and a toilet cabin you normally find in air planes - very claustrophobic, it even has an emergency cord to pull when you get stuck. My advice is to shop around a bit more, we noticed plenty of cute rooms for rent in Monterosso or the other villages. 90 EUR is a bit steep for what you get.

B&B Delfino Blue

Friendly B&B near the harbour of Genova, from here you can walk to the touristy renovated harbour area and old city. Easy access, decent room and simple breakfast, it does the job. We had a room facing the main street which sees a lot of traffic at night and can get quite noisy. The people running it are very friendly and flexible. WIFI available although a bit unreliable.

New York Budget Inn

Knowing that Manhattan is very expensive, this hostel is a good low-budget option, although including taxes etc. for a European, it is still a lot of money for a crammed dorm. This said, the place is clean, friendly and the location good as well. The staff is friendly and helpful. Would stay here again.

The B&B is nicely decorated in English style and the owners, who are also English, serve a good breakfast. Arriving after 10pm is not recommended, we received a very grumpy welcome.

Why don't you tell it as it really was? You arrived at 11.20pm and woke everyone constantly ringing the bell you had a two night booking and wanted to cancel the second night. (we had every right to charge you for this night but we didn't) We showed you your room and then you wanted a cigarette. Actually l think it was your girl friend who wrote your review. Not a nice way to treat people in their own home.

Great experience but there is one thing that can be improved: the automatic lighting in the dorms. When going out for a quick pee during the night and returning, the light of your bunk automatically switches on. Nice feature but it´s not thought trough: as you climb into your bed, the light remains one for another few minutes. Annoying! There must be a switch to turn off the lights manually.

We had the smallest double room I have ever seen in Europe. Ironically it had all the amenities such as mini fridge, mini, mini shower and mini heater so on paper it sounds good but in reality it is very crammed and better without. Other rooms looked better so whatever you do, don´t accept room nr.5! Other than that, location good, staff friendly and clean enough.

Very mediocre place. Facilities are so-so (flimsy bunk beds, some showers without clothing hooks, empty soap dispensers, small and smelly rooms) and the adjacent pub closes at 11pm. Good location near metro though.

Location really good and staff friendly. It is more a hotel than hostel though. Recommended for couples or groups.

Ultra-cool resort rather than backpackers hostel but that´s the charm of it. Great base to chill out after 1 day trips. The "travel agent" on the premises only books taxis to the airport, not the shuttle which I find a serious matter for a HI hostel.

Lovely place to relax for a couple of days and great base for hiking. The staff is really nice and full of advice about hiking around.

Great place to stay for the spoiled backpacker. I have never stayed in a hostel where you could recharge your Nokia, iPod, store your pack in a safe locker, have a private light in your bunk bed (and curtains!) and pay with your hotel-card. Oh and you can also leave your dirty dishes behind because staff will take care of them (!). It´s maybe a bit too well organized but I had a great time there. We called it the \"boutique hostel for the posh backpacker\".
