Eastwest Guesthouse

A bit weird-very centrally located but very hard to find as no name on door or any signs at all.Hostel is tall and thin with VERY steep spiral stairs so wont suit everyone. However staff are very friendly and helpful and the basement kitchen is warm and cosy, nice place to hang out or eat your own food.Very nice sustaining breakfasts included;good value but we had some extremely noisy and antisocial Germans who took over all the other rooms and dominated the place with noise and yelling till late

Extremely noisy!!I stay a lot in hostels and this was one of the worst.Door banging at all hours, loud shouting up and down stairs, loud conversations in the 2 common rooms despite staff efforts to keep it down.facilities quite good and interesting decor, but too loud.May I add that despite my age I am not complaining about late night noise (that WAS controlled)just general banging and clattering about that was completely unnecessary;probably related to the type of people staying.great location tho

Owner Comment (Hide)
The biggest problem i have with this review is the comment on the guests who stay here. The one thing i like best about working in this hostel is the people i meet.Just all round good happy fun people who enjoy meeting other people. The main thing i don't like about this job is that small number of people who should be staying in a hotel and don't socialize or warm to an environment where everyone else is having fun.

Great location handy for all the sights, friendly staff but rather shabby and not well cleaned. Can live with that for the price, we would certainly use it again

hostel itself is OK-clean, functional and well maintained, but our stay was marred by wild groups of very loud and rude teenage boys who banged and clattered around till nearly midnight each night eg playing football in the corridor using our door as a goal;playing loud music at 6.30 am and yelling and playfighting in the room next door without, apparently, any adult supervision or monitoring. When they left another roomful of kids above us used the beds as trampolines and banged off the walls!

clean and well maintained enough-but no communal space and no self catering(madrid is very expensive to eat out all the time)Very noisy as on a main street and allows drunken yobs in any time of day or night.Probably best for young singles out all night.
