This place was brilliant! It is literally right on the beach and the train station is next door so a great place to go explore Kalk Bay (walking distance), Simons Town and Cape Point. Rooms were clean and bright and the chill out deck upstairs is great place to relax and enjoy the view. The cafe within Stoked in good value and easy for all meals - everything is cooked fresh and is yummy! The staff were friendly, helpful and always around to chat to or ask for help.

I only stayed 1 night here and was very glad that was all. I had a double room to myself - the lock was dodgy and wouldn't have taken much to break. The bed linen was clean but marked. The sofas in the main area were damaged and staff were very unfriendly and made you feel like you were in the way. I was stayed here in Oct and so still quite quiet but there was no atmosphere and rooms were cold. Expensive compared to other hostels and they didn't even provide breakfast.

YOU HAVE TO STAY HERE!!!! Don't bother looking at anywhere else to stay! The spot is fantastic - about 20mins walk from the Waterfront and the facilities were amazing - good beds, hot showers, lockers, little reading lights and shelves for your things and plenty of sockets. But by far the best thing about BIG are the staff and the atmosphere that they create - I felt at home, like part of the family and they took an active interest in your plans, helped with any issues and were ace!! xx

Great hostel if you want to be central to everything but not if you want a quiet nights sleep - it is on the main road with lots of loud people and even louder bars. Its clean, safe and once they sort out a few more locks on the showers doors, it will be even better. Stacks of hot water, you can buy essential toiletries at reception and the staff were brilliant - helpful and friendly. Its a 20 minute walk from BSI bus terminal but get a taxi or bus if you have a heavy rucksack!
