Nomads Fat Camel Hostel

Auckland, New Zealand

Booked the hostel for it's location (reasonably close to Vector Arena). was pretty cheap for CBD but it's right next a couple of strip clubs and a brothel so not the nicest part! I booked two double rooms, this one for friends. This was for the 'Basic' room which was very small and the windows didn't close properly which was noisy on the weekend. Kitchen was filthy, they didn't even use the shower because it was so bad. this was there first hostel experience and maybe their last!

Great location really close to Westbahnhoff, easy to get to from the airport or via train. Only 3 showers per floor but we didn't seem to have any trouble finding a free one. Breakfast range was pretty good. Staff were really helpful!

Apartment Bobo

Dubrovnik, Croatia

Great location, Right in the heart of the old town. The apartment is a couple blocks off the main street which is nice and quiet, but it's up a few steps (but not too many). We had trouble reaching the owner via email and once we arrived she was a little late (luckly a neighbour called her for us as our phones did not work in Croatia!), after speaking to her in person she told us to call her if we needed anything - even after we told her our phones did not work! Language barrier I guess! :)

Spalatus Apartments

Split, Croatia

This Hostel was amazing! The location was great, right in the old town next to a supermarket :) The staff were fantastic - Naina spent ages finding us a transfer car to Dubrovnik (Didn't fancy a 5hr windy bus ride with swimmes ear!) They had double-booked the private ensuite rooms so gave us an entire floor to ourselves! Thanks guys, you made our visit!

San Frediano Mansion

Florence, Italy

Huuuuge rooms! I think we had the smallest on the floor and it was still big! There were some bars outside that made it a little noisey though not too bad as the room had shutters, a window, more shutters, a double glazed window then curtains... After closing all that it was pretty quiet. The ceiling fresco was nice :) it was a short walk from the train station, right next to the river in the central city.

Coliseum Rooms

Rome, Italy

The owner was super friendly and helpful, the location was great, near the metro and tram. The bathrooms weren't the cleanest, though not too bad though considering he was on crutches! (mangled himself playing football...)

Atheaton Traditional Hotel

Nafplio, Greece

Super cute hotel in a Venetian villa with period furniture (or replicas.) Staff were really friendly and helpful. Close to the bus station and main sights (though the old town is quite small so anywhere is close!)

My friend Daniel , Thank you very much!! I hope to see you again! All the best!! Lia

Epidavros Hotel

Athens, Greece

The staff were great, really friendly and helpful! The location is quite good near Omonoia square and metro station, and a walkable distance to sights like the Acropolis and Roman Agora. The hotel has been recently renovated and was fantastic value for money :) I wouldn't recommend it (or Athens) for solo female travelers, due to the recession there are a lot of homeless and abandoned buildings in the central city and it feels a bit rough at times. I would definitely stay here again though!

San Giorgio Villas

Santorini, Greece

George And Rena (Dina?) are fantastic hosts, they and their team was always ready to help. Free breakfast cake and juice/coffee, free airport transfers (both ways!). Its not very often you get to a hostel and it looks as good in real life as it does in photos but this one does! Its right next to the main road in Fira so great location, and it was great value! Will definitely stay with these guys next time :)

Hotel Gerando

Paris, France

Good location very close to Anvers metro station. Bed and room size a little on the small size - the first night we were in a room with a 'double' bed only 1.2 wide but they agreed to move us to a room with a slightly wider bed that would fit two 6' adults, which was much better. Value was pretty good (for Paris!) The hotel has breakfast available for €6 but we never got up early enough to try it!

Orchid Accommodations

Bruges, Belgium

Surprisingly for Bruges this B&B is in a modern building which is spacious and warm (and the bed was huge!). Its a little further out from the center but you can still walk to markt (wouldn't want to walk to the train station though). Rose was really helpful when we had questions :)

Hotel Mirabeau

Brussels, Belgium

Great location near the central city and a metro station is outside. The hotel is in the middle of renovations and the renovated rooms are great, my only gripe would be that the double bed was two singles pushed together which was OK but not preferred. We had a room on the outside of the hotel with a balcony overlooking the square. Would,t want to be stuck in the middle room though! The younger guy working at reception was super helpful!

Hotel The Veteran

Amsterdam, Netherlands

I have mixed feelings about the Hostel. Location was great, the staff were helpful and the breakfast had a good range. The room was quite small and looked nothing like the one pictured (but the size wasn't bad for a building from the 1670's) and it had a broken window pane with no way to close it and the hotel is right next to bars so it was quite loud and it is right above a head shop so the room smelt like weed the whole time. hostel is very dark, dated and in desperate need of renovation.

Sleep in Heaven

Copenhagen, Denmark

This was my second time staying at Sleep in Copenhagen as it's better value than other hostels in the area. It is further out than most but is still a reasonable 20-30 minute walk from the city center and is close to Forum station with metro links to the city and airport. My only gripes would be lack of lighting in the new shower rooms (with black tiles, black walls and black ceiling) And the 40DKK buffet breakfast doesn't have a lot of options (it wouldn't hurt to add some cereal or fruit!)

Jacobs Hotel Brugge

Bruges, Belgium

Really friendly staff! a bit of a walk from Markt, but Brugge is a nice city to walk around :)

Snuffel Backpacker Hostel

Bruges, Belgium

The shower was a horrible push button affair, but everything else was excellent. the staff were very friendly even though they got stuck working over Christmas!

London, England

The Apartment we stayed at wasn\'t what was advertised on Hostelworld but another owned by the company in a similar location as they were double booked. It was just as good as the one shown and we received a free upgrade to a room with a private bathroom as compensation. Then the staff member didn\'t record my details correctly and it took them a week to refund my bond.
