This is a good place to stay in Curitiba but the dorms get very cold at night. Some staff members speak English and are helpful. It´s a 15 minute walk from the downtown area but a long walk from the bus station. The toilets are clean and plentiful and there´s hot water for showers. The usual Brazilian breakfast of bread, ham, cake, fruit and coffee are served too. The kitchen is clean but could do with more plates and cups. There are lockers in the rooms and the wi fi is good.
A good choice for Punta del Este. It is only a short walk from the bus station and from the beaches. The beds are comfortable with lockers provided under the beds. The dorms are clean but a bit cramped. Bathrooms are clean and there is hot water for showers. Staff are friendly and helpful too and there´s a bar which serves beer. The breakfast is good too with cereal, bread and butter, coffee, juice and yoghurt being served. Wifi is better downstairs than in the rooms. I would stay here again.
A great place to stay in Colonia as it is both close to the historic area and bus station. There are many restaurants and shops nearby too. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. The bathrooms are spotless and showers are piping hot. The communal area is small but comfortable and there are two computers for guest use and a small kitchen. Breakfast consists of cereal, coffee and bread rolls. For some reason there was a very bad smell in the reception area though.
This hostel attracts a friendly crowd but is a bit neglected (broken toliet doors, smashed in lockers etc). Parts of the hostel are untidy as well, especially the outdoor area upstairs. The 10 bed dorm is cramped but the beds are comfortable. The location is good as it is only a 15 minute walk from the city´s main plaza. The staff are friendly and there is plenty of space in the hostel to chill. Showers are hot and the breakfast is cereal, bread and coffee. It´s fine for a few days.
A good place to stay but it is a 25 minute walk from the city center. The building itself is spacious and has a swimming pool. Staff were very helpful during my stay. The dorms are clean and comfortable and there are lockers provided. Bathrooms are clean but showers are lukewarm. Breakfast is ham, cheese, bread and coffee or hot chocolate. The kitchen has good facilities and there`s a computer for guest use. Beers are sold too. If the weather is sunny then this is a great place to chill.
Wi fi was very hit and miss during my stay. Apart from that, an excellent hostel which is only a 5 minute walk from the bus station. The dorms are clean and comfortable but would feel cramped if they were full. Large lockers are provided, the toliets are spotless and the showers are piping hot. Breakfast is cereal, oranges, toast and coffee and the kitchen is great. Management speak little English but are very friendly. The property is spacious and I would happily stay here again.
Hot water was a bit sporadic during my stay and the dorms can get chilly at night. Apart from that, a really nice place to stay. Excellent location as the hostel is only 1 block away from the city`s main plaza. The English speaking mother and daughter team who run the hostel couldn`t be more helpful. There`s a weekly bbq held every Sunday (40,000 guaranis) and there is a common room with tv right by reception. Breakfast consists of juices, coffee, cereal and toast. I`d happily stay here again.
Run by a charismatic Frenchman, Loro Loco is a great place to stay. It´s about a 20 minute walk from the main plaza and a 30 minute walk from the bus station. The atmosphere is nice and it attracts a chilled out crowd. A great breakfast of fruit, juices, coffee and sandwiches is served every morning and staff are friendly and English speaking. The hostel has a good kitchen and a common room where you can watch TV. The dorms are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. Recommended.
Maybe security could be improved here as anyone could walk into the bar area and then access the rooms. Apart from that, a great place to stay in Sucre. The breakfast is excellent and the owner is friendly and helpful. There is a big outdoor area at the back of the hostel with hammocks and there is plenty of space to relax outside. The wi fi is also pretty good. The beds are comfortable and are cleaned daily. The property needs more toliets but these are being constructed right now. Recommended.
My main concern about this place was security as you could easily walk into the hostel without passing reception. There are lockers but the dorm rooms aren`t locked. Everything else was great though. The location is great for the town centre and the breakfast was plentiful. The dorms were comfortable and surprisingly warm at night. The wifi is of a good standard and showers were hot most of the time. I also booked my mine tour here and enjoyed it. The hostel is housed in a characterful building.
Poor location as the hostel is a 25 minute bus ride from town. (Public transport is easy though, bus J goes to downtown). Apart from that, it`s a nice place to stay and an ideal place to chill. The hostel has a spacious garden with hammocks and even a small park. The bathrooms are clean and the showers are hot. The dorm beds are a bit hard but the rooms are clean. The owner is very friendly and the usual breakfast of bread and coffee is served in the morning. The dulux dog is very friendly too!
This hostel is an ok option for a one night stay after or before a tour. It is only a few blocks from the bus station and a short walk into town. The rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. A handful of lockers are provided in the reception area and the staff are friendly but not particularly helpful. The bathrooms are spacious but the hot water is sporadic. The breakfast is poor though (hard bread!) and the wi fi didn`t work during my stay.
This hostel is a short walk from the bus station but a good 20 minute walk from the downtown attractions. This hostel is large so it isn`t the easiest place to meet people. The shared bathrooms are clean but hot water can be sporadic. The dorm rooms are clean and the beds are comfortable. Lockers are provided in both the dorm rooms and at reception. The breakfast is all you can eat pancakes which can get monotonous. The staff are English speaking and helpful and you get a free beer each night .
This is a decent place to stay in Uyuni. It`s located slap bang in the town centre near to all the touristy restaurants. The beds are comfortable and the dorms are spacious enough. There is hot water but only during limited periods. The woman who runs the hostel speaks English and is helpful. The interior of the hostel looks a bit scruffy but there are plenty of lockers provided and a common room where you can chill. The breakfast was also good. Uyuni is bitterly cold at night so be prepared.
This is a very basic hostel which justifies the lower price. The 8 bed dorm I stayed in was cramped and the kitchen is tiny. It`s essentially a stove and a sink . It is located close to the bus station but is a good 10 minute walk from the town centre. The thing I liked most about this place was the staff who were very friendly. There are only 2 bathrooms but they are clean and there`s hot water for showers. It`s also a good place to meet people as it`s so small and the wifi is reliable.
Excellent location as it´s right next to Bella Artes metro station and is a 10 minute walk from the main plaza. The dorm rooms are comfortable and the beds are cleaned daily. The lockers provided are also large. The showers are hot and the bathrooms are clean. The breakfast consists of eggs, cereal, juice and coffee and is served from 7 30am until 10 30 am. The staff are English speaking and very helpful and there´s a downstairs communal area for chilling. This is the place to stay in Santiago.
The only thing I didn`t like about this place was the location. It`s a bit far from the city centre but there`s a metro station close by anyway. Everything else was great. I found the staff to be particularly helpful during my stay. The breakfast is better than average and the 10 bed dorm where I stayed in was spacious with good lockers. The indoor communal area is a bit small but there`s a larger space outisde where you can enjoy drinks and chill out. There are also two computers for guest use.
This is a small hostel with a homely feel. You need to climb up some steep steps to get to it but it´s located in an atmospheric part of Valparaiso. The dorms are clean and comfortable and lockers are provided. Breakfast is better than average but isn´t served until 9am. The downstairs area is a good place to meet people but it is small and can feel a bit cramped at times. There are only 2 bathrooms as well so you may need to queue. The staff are friendly and there´s a good kitchen for guest use
This hostel is housed in a modest building but is comfortable. The staff are great and German (a staff member) is especially helpful and speaks good English. It is located close to the town centre but is a bit of a walk from the bus station. The bathrooms are clean and spacious and there`s hot water for showers. On the top floor is an outdoor communal area where you can enjoy barbecues and on the floor below is a communal area where you can relax and watch films. I would stay here again.
This hostel is close to the beach and is about a 20 minute walk from the town centre. The staff are English speaking and friendly and the facilities here are good. There is a spacious kitchen for guest use and plenty of communal areas to chill out downstairs. There is a computer for guest use and a TV to watch movies. The dorms are spacious and comfortable and the bathrooms are clean and there`s hot water for showers. You will need to get a taxi to get here from the bus station.
It was hard to find this place as it is located down a side street away from the road. This is a nice place to stay as it is relaxing and attracts a chilled out crowd. There is a small kitchen for guest use and a good pancake breakfast with tea or coffee is served. There is both an outside communal area and an indoor one too. There is also a computer for guest use and dvds to watch. It is about a ten minute walk to the main plaza. Only two showers though in the hostel, could do with more.
The woman who runs this hostel speaks good English and is friendly. I got the impression at times though they weren´t organised with their booking system. This is a busy hostel with many people passing through. The dorms are comfortable but cramped. There are two resting areas and a pool table downstairs and a tv and computer on the 1st floor. There are hot showers and the toliets are clean. The location is good as it´s situated between the bus station and the main high street.
The main drawback to this place is that it`s difficult to get hot water from the showers. The floor boards are also creaky in the bedrooms so you make noise when you walk on them. Apart from that I really liked it here. It`s a cosy hostel located in a charming building and is small enough to meet people. Staff are very friendly and a simple breakfast is provided. The dorms are comfortable and there`s plenty of bedding to cope with Cusco`s cold nights. There`s a computer for guest use too.
This isn`t the best located hostel in Miraflores as it`s 8 blocks north of Parque Kennedy. Saying that, the hostel itself is nice and cosy. This isn`t a party hostel at all. The dorms are comfortable, lockers are provided and the bathrooms are clean and the showers are hot. Staff are multilingual and are eager to please and are helpful. A simple breakfast of bread and coffee is served in the morning and there`s a computer for guest use and a kitchen as well. I would happily stay here again.
This is a good option if you wish to explore central Lima (recommended) as it`s walking distance to the main attractions. Unfortunately it`s noisy due to passing traffic and the beeping is especially annoying in the morning. The staff are friendly and a breakfast of bed and jam with tea or coffee is served. The toilets are clean and there`s hot water for showers. Dorms are comfortable and there are lockers too. The bar is a nice place to hang out in the evenings and meet people.
This is a good place to stay in beautiful Cuenca as it´s close to the historical centre and is cheap. It´s run by a young Swiss sister and brother team who speak both English and Spanish fluently. As well as the usual jam and bread breakfast you can also order extras. The building is large and there are ample toliets and showers with hot water. There is also a yard at the back where you can relax and a room where you can play beer pong. The beds are comfortable and lockers are provided.
Excellent location as the hostel is only a 5 minute walk from the main nightlife area of the Mariscal. Saying that, the hostel is situated down a quiet side street so you will get a quiet night`s sleep. This is a cosy hostel with a nice atmosphere. The staff are friendly and there`s both a computer and kitchen for guest use. The beds are comfortable and there`s a small communal area by the reception. Unfortunately there`s only 1 shower in the building so be prepared to queue in the morning.
This place isn´t really a hostel, it´s a house which rents out rooms. It´s biggest drawback is its location: it´s a good 20 minute walk from Charles Darwin Avenue or a 1 dollar taxi ride. (Most taxi drivers know how to get here as the property has a sign now). The family who runs this place are lovely but don´t speak English. My room was comfortable, well furnished and I had hot water too. There was also a TV in my room and the property was secure.
This is a gem of a hostel. It´s located slap bang in the centre of the historical city and is ideal for exploring Popayan. The reception is manned 24 hours a day and is secure as you have to be buzzed in to enter. The dorms are spacious and clean and there´s a relaxing common area next to reception. Staff are bilingual and helpful, cheap beers are sold, and there´s a room upstairs where you can watch films. There are also adequate shower and toilet facilities and a kitchen for guest use.
The biggest drawback with this place is its location as it´s a good 30 minutes walk from town up a steep hill. Saying that, it´s very peaceful and is ideal for those who wish to relax. The hostel is more like a country house and is both atmospheric and characterful. The staff are friendly but only one member speaks English. Beer is sold and breakfast is served in the morning for a fee. The dorm rooms are clean and comfortable and this place offers a different hostel experience completely.
The staff at this hostel are very helpful and are bilingual. It´s not an easy place to find in a taxi and it´s a good 30 minute walk from town so this is a bit of a disadvantage. The building itself is spacious and the dorms are clean and comfortable and lockers are provided. There is a bar and a swimming pool and a simple breakfast is served daily. The toliets are clean and you have hot showers most of the time. The neighbourhood is safe as well. The biggest annoyance is the hostel dog!
This is a cosy hostel that attracts a chilled out crowd. The staff are lovely and helpful. I stayed in the 10 bed dorm which was cramped but comfortable. The beds have plenty of blankets which is important as it gets cold at night in Bogota. There is a simple breakfast of coffee, juice and bread served every day and a computer for guest use. The hostel is located in the tourist area of La Candelaria and is within walking distance of most tourist attractions. I really enjoyed my stay here.
This is a classy hostel in an upscale area of Medellin. I wouldn't describe the hostel as homely as it's a bit posh, but the dorm rooms are comfortable and very clean. The bilingual staff are very helpful and professional. There's a breakfast of coffee, eggs and toast served in the morning and there is a laptop available for free use of the internet. Downstairs there is a cheap bar which is a good place to meet locals and other travelers. There are also lockers in the rooms. Highly recommended.
If you love busy hostels with lots of opportunities to party, then you will love Lena`s. Bear in mind that this place is very loud as it is close to many nightclubs. You will not get to sleep before 3am on the weekends and certain nights during the week due to loud music. The hostel is located in the heart of Casco Viejo so its location is great. Some of the dorms are good whilst others are cramped. There are lockers for every guest and 4 computers for guest use. Staff speak very good English.
Mamallena´s has an excellent location as it is right by the town square and is very easy to find from the bus stop. Bear in mind that this is a very busy hostel with many people coming and going so it may not be ideal for those looking for a relaxing hostel. The facilities are good, there is a large kitchen for guest use, 3 computers, an indoor communal room where you can watch movies and a courtyard at the back. There are also lockers and you can book shuttles or excursions through reception.
This is a good place for a short stay in David. The interior of the hostel looks a bit tired but the dorms are comfortable and the bathrooms are clean. The owner is knowledgeable and has lots of info on the surrounding area. There is a computer for guest use (a bit unreliable), a kitchen and free coffee available all day. The hostel is about a 15 minute walk from downtown David but there is a handy supermarket nearby. There is also a courtyard and hammocks outside which are nice for chilling.
The only negative about this hostel is that there is only one bathroom for each gender. Everything else was excellent. It´s an ideal place for a quiet night in San Jose as it´s not a party hostel and it´s located in a nice barrio of the city. However, it´s only a short walk from the downtown area so its location is great. The interior of the hostel is quite elegant and the owner is very helpful and informative. The courtyard at the back is spacious and there´s a kitchen for guest use. Recommended.
The only thing I didn't like about this place was the downstairs common room. It's not really relaxing as there are many people passing through. Everything else was great. The English speaking staff are very friendly and helpful. A generous breakfast of eggs and toast, fruit and cereal is served everyday as well as free coffee. Both the dorm rooms and private rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms are spacious and there's hot water for showers. You can book tours through reception. Recommended.
I really liked the cosy vibe at this place. It is a short (but steep) walk from Montezuma town centre and the beach. The staff are lovely and the good breakfast they provide justifies the higher price as the local restaurants are expensive. The upstairs and downstairs areas are great for chilling out and there's a kitchen for guest use and free coffee all day. There is also a night watchman for extra security. Some of the dorm rooms are a little cramped but I highly recommend this place.

This is a good place to stay in Liberia. It is very close to the bus station and security is excellent as the front gate is always locked. You need to be let in or out by a member of staff. There is a basic kitchen and pleasant courtyard at the back where you can relax or eat meals. The interior of the building can feel a little cramped as there isn`t much space to move around and there aren`t many bathrooms either. The staff are English speaking and helpful and the dorms are comfortable.
The English speaking staff at this hostel are courteous and very professional. There is both a bar and restaurant in the hostel and it is centered on a lovely courtyard which is ideal for chilling. The location is good too as it is only a 5 minute walk to the main square in town. There is a computer for guest use and a tv where guests can relax in the evenings. I stayed in the 11 bed dorm and there is only one bathroom in the room so you may have to wait to use it. It`s a great place to stay.
Most people who stay here only stay for the night as they are either heading to or from the airport. The hostel is located in an upscale and safe area of Managua, close to expensive restaurants and bars. The staff speak good English and there are two computers for guest use, two kitchens and the swimming pool is a nice touch too. There doesn`t seem to be enough showers or toilets for the number of guests who stay in the dorms though. If you wish to explore downtown Managua you will need a taxi.
This is a new hostel still finding its feet. The location is good as it is close to the cathedral in the city centre. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly and are eager to please. A good breakfast is included in the price and you get a welcome drink when you arrive at the hostel. The facilities are good as there is a cinema room, kitchen and pool table for guest use. There is no hot water in the dorm rooms unfortunately. Would definitely stay here again though.
The staff at this hostel are eager, very friendly, keen to impress and speak good English. Unfortunately though the hostel doesnt feel very organised. It can be hard to find a staff member at the front desk at times. The front door also needs a door bell. You can wait a while to be let into the building at times. On the plus side the dorms are clean, comfortable and there is hot water. There is also a computer for guest use and a large yard at the back to relax. Great location too.
This hostel is a little pricey but it´s a good choice as the security is excellent and it is located in a good neighbourhood. It´s about a 20 minute walk to the downtown area. The dorms are clean and comfortable and there´s hot water for showers. The upstairs balcony is a nice place to chill out and there´s a tv downstairs but no common room as such. My only complaint about this place is that the hostel´s computer isn´t reliable and the internet is pricey at 2 dollars an hour.
This place is nothing fancy but it's a great place to spend a few days. The American / Honduran couple who run the place are friendly and helpful and the hostel's location is excellent. It's only a couple of minutes walk to all the bars and restaurants. The dorms are comfortable and there's hot waters for showers. The upstairs balcony is a great place to have a beer and watch the sunset as well. There's also a kitchen and a computer for guest use. I would stay here again.
This is an old guesthouse and is in need of a renovation. However, the rooms are clean and comfortable and there is hot water for showers. The staff are friendly and helpful and it is located in a nice area of San Salvador, close to many shops and restaurants. I stayed here for 7 nights and would happily stay here again.
This hostel is expensive but you are well looked after here. The owner, Marcos, speaks excellent English and takes guests out for nights out and arranges meals in the hostel on certain nights. The hostel also collects you or takes you to your next mode of transportation. The hostel is located in Zona 10, a safe but pricey part of the city. There´s a computer for free internet use and the dorms are comfortable. I´d recommend this hostel and Guatemala city is worth seeing too.
The best thing about this hostel were the staff. They were friendly, spoke excellent English and were very helpful. The place itself is a bit basic and the 5 bed dorm I was in was a little cramped but comfortable. The bathrooms were clean and there was some warm water during my stay. There is breakfast served every morning at around 9am. This is not the most centrally located hostel in Antigua but I would stay here again. Bear in mind that the hostel enforces a 12:30 am curfew.
This was a pleasant place to spend a few days as it is close to Coban city centre. The male owner here speaks good English and is very friendly. The hostel itself is basic with few facilities (no internet, kitchen etc.) The beds are comfortable and the dorm I stayed in was spacious. Unfortunately there was no hot water at all during my stay and the rooms can get very chilly at night. Plan accordingly.
This is a chilled out hostel in a safe part of a rough city. Staff are very friendly and the balcony at the back is a great place to sink a beer and meet other backpackers. The hostel is also close to the tourist village and is in the city centre. However, the dorms are over priced and the walls between the rooms are thin.
I really liked this hostel as the staff were very friendly and they provided a great breakfast as well. Cinthia is a character and speaks great English. The dorms are comfortable and secure and air-conditioned. There's a basic kitchen for guest use and two computers for free internet surfing as well. The courtyard at the front of the hostel is a good place to chill with a beer. The hostel is close to Tulum high street where the bars, restaurants are etc. Highly recommended.
I really liked this hostel as it provided activities for the guests. I especially liked the free salsa lessons! The staff are helpful and speak excellent english. The dorms are comfortable and the pool is a nice bonus as well. The breakfast is quite good and there are 3 computers for free internet use. This isn't the most centrally located hostel in Merida but I would happily stay here again. Lockers are provided in the dorms as well.
The location of the hostel is good as it is close to Palenque town (and the bus station) without being in Palenque itself. The areas outside the dorm areas are good places to chill at night with a beer. The dorms are spacious enough but the bathrooms are average. There is no kitchen but there is a good restaurant and a bar above the hostel. Staff speak very limited English. I would stay here again.
This hostel has good facilities - a pool table, a mini cinema upstairs, a kitchen for guest use, and the nightly bonfire is a great place to chill and meet people. The staff are friendly and the location is only a 5 minute walk from downtown as well. The basic is breakfast and the free internet is slow but I would gladly recommed this hostel. The dorms are comfortable but are very dark at night so you may need a head torch if you need to get up at this time.
Excellent location as it is only a 10 minute walk from the beach. Staff were helpful. The rooms were stuffy at night though and it was difficult to get a good night´s sleep.
Excellent location and very easy to get to from Union station. This hostel has all the facilities you'd expect for a hostel. The rooms were cramped and stuffy though. It is hard to get a good night's sleep here without air con.
This is a Korean run guesthouse. The management here were lovely and the hostel was very clean. Unfortunately it's around 3 miles from downtown so you have to catch a bus to get there. Buses are very regular though.
The staff were very friendly and helpful at this hostel. However, it is a long walk from the hostel to downtown. I wouldn't stay here again unless I had a car.
Very clean hostel but it feels like a ghost hostel as it's only manned during certain daytime hours. They need to simplify the night in check in system and rely less on computers. For example, you need access to the net to receive certain codes for storage etc.
Good location as it is only a 15 minute walk from downtown Denver. I thought the rooms were a little cramped and there wasn't much of a backpacker vibe here as most of the rooms seemed to be private rooms. The bathrooms were spotless in all fairness.
Very friendly staff and good breakfast. Rooms were cramped and difficult to sleep in due to the heat and noise from outside. Cheap hostel though for London.
Excellent location and very friendly staff. The only downside are the cold showers.
Great staff, bit far from the center however.
