Very good Guesthouse, friendly owner and staff. It's a short way down a very rough side street and would be hard to find without a knowledgeable taxi driver or by asking a local - for which you will no doubt have to pay! The website directions to the Guesthouse should be much more detailed. The Airport taxis know the place. Deserves much better than the Shoestring category in the 2009 Brady guide. Recommended
It's relatively easy to catch the bus to this hostel but be sure to tell the driver where you want to get off. It wasn't announced in English on my bus. Mr Kim runs a shuttle service for 5000 Won which is a reasonable price. The hostel is spotlessly clean and the facilities are excellent but the place is in the middle of nowhere although there a few restaurants and convenience stores close by. An excellent place for an overnight stay in between flights but maybe not so good for visiting Seoul.
Very short, easy walk from Train station. The directions on the website should be filled in a little. The Hostel is in a very big classic looking building with statues on the top. The building has several entrances. The Optimum is about the middle entrance and has a small name sticker next to the buzzer. The dorm was a bit cramped. It needs lockers for backpacks instead of the cupboards with shelves. Overall a very good hostel.
A good location if you need to be close to the railway station for an early morning or night train. It takes a while to walk into town but it's pleasent enought and fairly straightforward.
This Hostel is like a comfortable apartment, which in fact is what it is. The tours run by Anatoily are a little pricey but two of us went on a half day hike and it was excellent and fun. The walk from the train station takes longer than 15 minutes if you are carrying a backpack and the street numbers seem to jump around a bit but just keep walking, watch the street numbers and you'll get there eventually. NOTE: the entrance is at the back the building. A good place - recommended.
Very good, quiet location near the river and adjacent to the walking tour of the city. The Hostel is still being fixed up but it's very clean and all the facilities worked! Good directions to the hostel. Highly recommended.
A really nice relaxing hostel near the river and within a short walk of everything - Suzdal is small! The kitchen is in a separate building adjacent to the house but is excellent except that more cooking utensils, plates etc. are needed. The stuff was always moving between the bar in the house and the kitchen. The house can get a bit noisy with people walking around upstairs on the wood floors. Overall an excellent hostel.
A good Hostel with decent facillities. Very good directions supplied for finding the hostel. Staff very helpfull even though there was a screw up getting my registration on time but I share the blame for that. Overall a very good experience
A good Hostel if you want to be away from the Center of town but still in Zone 1 for transport. Some areas of the hostel are getting to look a little tired but overall it was OK . The kitchen is a good size but really needs some serious reorganization - cupboards or shelves with baskets on the back wall for guest's food. An industrial sized fridge as the existing ones, one of which was broken, were totally inadequate. Kettles that don't break down. Otherwise a good, quiet, non party place
One of the smallest single rooms I've ever slept in, only to be outdone by a double bunk room in a hostel in Seoul. But then, it's a jail after all and it's interesting The main negative is the loud music from the bar below the cells/rooms going on into the early hours of the morning. The Hostel needs to decide whether they are running a hostel or a bar. The two don't mix well when the rooms are above the bar in what is already a noisy environment. At least keep the music down a bit after 11pm
A quiet hostel with lots of character - including the peeling paint! I chose this hostel because it was not Western Backpacker central like the Harmony hostel - most guests were Asian. Friendly staff but a little too casual in fulfilling requests (slow getting a train ticket, for example, even though their fee was much higher than going to a booking office). Overall, I liked this hostel and recommend it to people who prefer to a a more authentic local experience.
A very good hostel. Very new and fresh. My rating is based on comparing it with the previous hostel where I Stayed in Nagasaki which had a warmer, friendlier feeling but as always it depends on who is staying at any given time. I recommend this hostel - its fresh, new and the staff are trying very hard.
An excellent hostel even though it's very big. Not in the city center but very easily accessible with good connections to the tram, metro, train and airport.
