I booked a single room and I got a twin-share room with bunk beds (thankfully I didn't have to share with anyone, though). There was graffiti all over the door and the lockers, and the skylight was dirty (but it's the only natural light in the room as there's no windows), and the room's heater was too hot (and with no window, I couldn't regulate the temperature) I waited 12 hours for a towel that never became available, despite being promised one. But bathrooms are clean and location is good!

I've stayed here before in the 4-bed dorm with ensuite and rated it as an excellent hostel. This time around, I was in a 6-bed dorm with shared facilities, and I can't rate it as highly...but it's definitely still good!! There's no kitchen facilities at all, the dorms are small and cramped with 6 peoples luggage. But, the bathrooms are really clean, the linens are all provided, the staff are great, the free wifi is brilliant, the common room is okay, and the free breakfast is amazing!!

The staff did everything they could to help me, and they are great. But they have large groups here which makes for lengthy line ups for everything (checking in/out, luggage storage, breakfast, etc). The breakfast is pretty good if you can get through all the people. There's no kitchen facilities (not even a kettle, microwave, etc), and wifi is only available on a paid package. Bring a padlock for the lockers, and be prepared to eat out all the time!!

Decent enough hostel in great location. Rooms are noisy (old creaky floors and bunk beds, with over-the-street noise), breakfast is not included (available for about £5), kitchen is big but lacking crockery and cutlery, bathrooms are not very well laid out (everything gets wet in the shower stall as there's no shelf or anything), wifi is not available everywhere as advertised (only on the main floor). If coming from Waverley Station, to avoid a quick-but-steep uphill climb, go via North Bridge!!

It's easy to miss...from Plaza Nueva, go down the street with the Banesco on it, and it's the same building on your right in the dentist's office. Bring earplugs (it gets noisy!!) and get up early to use the showers and toilets (there's only a couple for a lot of people). The free walking tours are extremely good!! Felipo, who did the evening one, and Juan, who did the day one, were both fantastic guides and gave great insight into the city and offered a friendly and fun way to explore the area.

One of the best hostels I've stayed at!! Extremely clean, very comfortable rooms, with great in room facilities (like a microwave, TV, lockers, etc). The pub is great!! And it includes a great REAL breakfast (not a stale muffin, but a full english breakfast). The staff are really friendly and welcoming. You can't beat the location...it's literally a few steps from Paddington station, which is a perfect hub for transport but also a beautiful area to explore. I will be back for sure!!

This hostel was really great - great location, good rooms, good security, good kitchen facilities, great social environment, and friendly staff. I will definitely stay here again when I visit San Francisco again.

Luckily I was in one of the better rooms, but the bunks were dangerously weak, and the roofing and walls were falling apart. The patio would be a nice place to sit if the long-term stays weren't getting drunk every day from morning until night, making it a uncomfortable to spend time there. The office hours are frustrating, and I think that for short-term stays they need to be give out information that might be useful for a tourist. The "wi-fi connection" is a joke. Location is nice though!!

The Northwest hostel is in a lovely spot, but it can be a bit far from downtown if you're walking, but transport is close by. The staff were so friendly and the room was cold, but good - there were lockers for everyone and good kitchen facilities.

The location is excellent - right amidst all the South Beach action!! Don't expect anything fantastic though - the bathrooms are pretty ordinary, the kitchen use is limited...but they have wifi, and 2 computers, and one of the best Happy Hours in the area!! The staff at reception were pretty friendly, but the cleaners were quite terse, and they got frustrated when we wanted to use the bathroom at 5:00pmas they wanted to mop the floor.

The staff here are nothing but friendly and helpful. The location is brilliant, and the rooms are great - especially the 2-bunk rooms!! It's a home away from home!! I would highly recommend this hostel - it's one of the best I've stayed in!!

Despite the initial entry issue (take the phone number in case noone answers the door!!), this hostel was very welcoming, clean and safe, and the staff were so friendly and helpful. The location is hard to beat and the free internet and breakfast help to get you on your feet!! I can highly recommend this hostel.

A very LOUD nightclub sits right at Reception underneath the rooms...so don't expect a great night's sleep!!

Great value for a twin share with private ensuite. It's not quite in the "heart " of the Old Town, as advertised...but it's only about 5-10 minute walk.

Kinlay House Cork

Fairly average hostel - nothing works!! The lights are broken (showers in the dark), and the power outlets don't work. Breakfast is supplied (toast, jam and tea) which is good. The walls are paper thin, so wear earplugs or you won't sleep!!

The Linen House Hostel

Belfast, Northern Ireland

BEWARE!! You may not get a room, even if you have a reservation...and they couldn't care less what you booked, so they might try to charge you extra if they can't provide the room!! They will get you to pay for a taxi yourself (or walk 15 minutes in the pouring rain) to their other property where there is no reception to assist you with anything (tours, info, room problems, etc).

Shining Hostel

A few things to note - you CANNOT access your room, your stuff or any hostel area during 1100-1400 daily!! Room keys only work for 10mins at a time, so you have to keep going back to reception!! Most of the staff are great :)

Service was very disorganised (constantly asking for money/passport when already provided). They don't care that there was no laundry/hot water/security facilities. Location sucks. They would bring people up over 200 steep stairs with all their luggage (no offer of help for those who needed it) to a dirty room with unmade beds. Sometimes, the beds were still occupied, so people had to make the trip down the steep stairs with all their luggage again. They split up people who had booked together.
