Quetzalroo

Guatemala City, Guatemala

Guatemala City may seem a little daunting to the average traveler, but not at this hostel. The staff at Quetzalroo can introduce you to this great city and help you to see it in ways you never thought you would. They love GC at Quetzalroo and it really shows. Instead of giving you the average tourist experience, they teach about the city, its culture and its history. On top of all of that, the rooms are comfy and clean and there is a great roof top to hang out and meet your fellow travelers.

Base Camp Antigua

Antigua, Guatemala

The staff at Base Camp were some of the most warm and welcoming people we met in Guatemala. They were extremely helpful to us while we got our bearings in Antigua. The facilities are very clean and comfortable. All of the mattresses are tempurpedic quality. Seriously, they were the most comfortable beds I've ever slept on in a hostel! The free breakfast is also very filling, and more generous than the typical fruit/bread breakfast you find at most hostels. Base camp is like home away from home.

Casa del Ritmo

Santa Marta, Colombia

The hostel is great! It's new, fun & clean. The staff is so great. We had a late flight on our last day & planned on paying for a room that day just so we could sleep & take a last minute shower. We stayed at the hostel until after 9 that night & at check out they didn't charge us anything. It's really great service from good people.

La Masia Summer Hostel

This is hands down the best hostel I've ever stayed at! The rooms are clean & comfy. The restaurant is delicious, plus they have a kitchen for you to cook in. At night the bar, pool table & tv room are great entertainment. The best feature though is the pool! It's key for the hot afternoons, and a great place to relax. it's very convenient to the beach, but still far enough away so it's a little quieter at night. I highly recommend this place & would love to stay there again!

This is one of the nicest hostels I have ever stayed at! It´s a great value for the money. The rooms are very clean, they have a great terrace with a bar and pool table, and a pool on the first floor. The staff was so welcoming and really went out of their way to include us in activities. It´s just a couple minutes walk from the main square, great restaruants, the beach and supermarket. Highly recommended!

Makako Chill Out Hostel

If you are on a very tight budget you can rent hammocks here, but don´t waste money on the rooms. You can find much nicer places in Colombia for the same price. My main complaint with the hostel was the way that were treated by one of the employees on our last day. He was supposed to call a ride for us to Santa Marta. We waited for three hours and still no ride. The interaction ended with him very aggressively arguing wth us until we just got our own taxi. I wouldn´t recommend this place.

This is such a nice place to stay. Its just a short walk from the town and this distance makes for really quiet & relaxing atmosphere. The rooms were very clean & spacious. The owners are fantastic. They can book tours for you or help you with any questions about the area. They do speak english. Breakfast is cheap, filling and delicious. The hostel is located right on a bend of the river & the water is perfect for swimming. I would definitely stay there again.

This place is located right in the main square which is very convenient. The rooms are & really cheap & in good condition. We stayed in a private with its own bathroom for only 8 per night. There isn't much of a common area so it wasnt that easy to meet people. All in all its a pretty good place to stay.

This hostel is awesome! It has a great courtyard common area & roof top views of the city & mountains. The staff is very helpful & patient with bad spanish. They offer good deals on tours to cotopaxi, quilotoa & the other mountains. The hostel is beautiful and comfortable. The kitchen is open to guests as well.

The location is great, right in old town, but still very close to the bars in new town. The look out on the roof is a beautiful place to spend your down time. Breakfasts are tasty, filling & only $2. They are really helpful with directions and questions, and five you a great ma when you arrive.

This is a really great hostel, and it is only a short cab ride from a busy street with lots to do. The staff was very helpful with directions and suggestions for activities in town. We stayed the night while in town for a concert & it was a great value and much cheaper than a hotel.

Murali Hostal Airport Guayaquil

I stayed in the mixed dorm room. The hostel is very bare and offers only basic necessities. It is however extremely convenient for the bus station and airport, and they will drive anywhere you need to go for a small fee. Bring a map of the hostels location with you! Neither of my cab drivers were able to find it based on the address alone.

Not the most comfortable place to stay but as backpackers we didn't mind it too much. It is very close to a bus stop. The pool was very refreshing & the restaurant had reasonably priced food. All of the members of our group had a blast!
