A good hostel with the potential to be a great hostel. Beds were nice and comfortable. The cafe/bar was reasonably priced and the staff were pleasant and helpful. The guest kitchen was seemingly a woeful afterthought, only slightly better than having no kitchen and the upstairs lounge area is in definite need of some work. The location was very good though, a bustling side street not far from the subway and Tiananmen Square. I'd recommend it for sure but don't expect the 'best hostel ever'.

Nice, sociable hostel where you're likely to meet a lot of other travellers. The beds were comfy (if a little creaky), the location is excellent, right in the centre of the city and the staff are very friendly. The lack of bathrooms was sometimes a problem for the number of people in the hostel but other than that this place was a great place to stay and I'd definitely stay again.

Really enjoyed my stay at Golden Tram. This hostel is a very clean and pleasant place to stay. The staff were friendly and helpful, the beds were really comfy and I love it when you get curtains on your beds in dorm rooms so that's a big plus. The location couldn't be more central really. The only small changes I'd suggest are adding locks for the storage under the beds and allowing the bathroom lights a little more than 15 seconds before they automatically turn off and leave you in the dark.

A pleasant place to stay for a couple of nights in a good central location. Liked the rooftop terrace, didn't like that the wifi wasn't working during our time there but they did have a computer with internet in reception you could use.

Location was great for us since we coming into and leaving from the train station, it's just a few minutes walk away. The staff member who checked us in was great. Really helpful and informative and gave us some great tips on places to go. The thing that really let the place down was it has a bug problem. We were only there a couple of nights and we saw so many (different) bugs in our room and in the corridors. I hope they decide to do something about it because it could be a good hostel.

HI-Banff Alpine Centre

HI hostels for me are always good but never great and this one was no exception. The location was excellent though, surrounded by wildlife and some of the Banff trails. It's out of town but you get a free bus pass and the walk isn't too bad anyway. The cleaning left a lot to be desired though, we had all sorts of stuff left around our room and the showers weren't always clean. It did the job though. Staff were fine, big lockers in the rooms and a free breakfast if you book though here.

I can understand why so many people like this hostel. Not sure I'd enjoy staying in the upstairs super dorm but as it was having a private room was brilliant. Our window opened right out onto a bustling street of the old town. The place did lack toilets and showers (only 2 of each) but we never had to wait too long. Location is perfect and the common areas are pleasant and have plenty of stuff to keep you entertained. I'd stay here again.

This hostel was really nice. The location is excellent, close to the train station, Supermarket and 24 hour Poutine and only a short walk to the Old Town. Room (double private) was pleasant enough. There is a bit of a lack of showers/toilets but it didn't cause too much of a problem. One problem we did have was the wifi signal wasn't strong enough to pick up in our room, could just about connect sometimes if we sat in a particular spot. No complaints otherwise. Breakfast was toast and coffee

A fantastic hostel with lovely staff and a great vibe to the place. This was just the sort of place we were looking for in Rio, not a party hostel but friendly and sociable with a laid back feel to it. The rooms were pleasant enough, normal bunk beds instead of the triple deck bunks you get in other places in Rio. Breakfast was good and the staff were very helpful. Buses to everywhere left from just around the corner.

Location was amazing! That's about it. Breakfast was included but it was the most pathetic breakfast I've seen at a hostel, still it's better than nothing at all. The main problem was the lack of cleaning in the toilets. The first day we were there one of the toilet bins was overflowing (and it's a put your toilet paper in the bins place) It's not like they have many toilets to look after either. The view from the balcony is amazing and the price is okay. Everything else was average at best.

A nice little hostel. It was like staying at someones house. Located close to Pocitos beach but also only a half hour or so walk to the old town or there are plenty of buses if you prefer. Breakfast wasn't bad, the staff were nice enough and the place was kept clean.

Pretty good hostel for the price you pay. Our first room had a broken toilet and wires sticking out of the wall but they moved us to another room with no problem. Breakfast was pretty good, croissants, bread roll, cereal and occasionally fruit and yoghurt. It could have been kept better stocked during breakfast time though. The coffee was really awful. They have a small drinks bar and there is plenty of information around reception. Old fashioned lifts were fun.

This place was a pleasant surprise. The staff were lovely and helpful, the rooms were nice and tidy. It was a really pleasant no frills guest house. The free wifi was fast and reliable and the beds were comfy. The location was good although it was a little too close to Spadina station and any light sleepers might struggle with the sound of the buses until late but we had no problems. Not for everyone I imagine but it's good for the price and I would stay here again.

Definitely one of the better hostels I’ve stayed at in London. Great location just off Borough High Street. Close to London Bridge station for the tube and trains to Gatwick. Rooms are nice and well kept, beds are really comfy and having a curtain on the beds for some privacy is a bonus. Staff were helpful and friendly. Will stay again.

This place was pretty awful. There are plenty of better hostels in Wellington. In our room 1 bed wasn't made, another didn't have a pillow. Our bin hadn't been emptied. The bathrooms are few in number and mostly unpleasant. All this has going for it is its central location but so do all the others. Definitely wouldn't stay here again.

This place was okay, they messed up our booking though. We booked a twin room and they gave us a double and then said we must have booked a double despite having the booking print out there with us clearly stating twin room. They did then give us a twin room and made out like they were doing us a massive favour (by giving us what we booked) so we weren't impressed by that. However the room was nice and it seems a pleasant enough hostel/motel to stay in providing they get your booking right.

All in all a pretty good hostel. Staff were friendly and helpful. The place had a relaxed atmosphere and having a couple of beers out in the garden was nice after a long day exploring. Bar: Quite cheap Breakfast: Average Showers: Tried two of them, one didn't drain away and the other one had a broken door. Toilet seats: Not attached to toilets. Ventilation: Window propped open by toilet roll. Mornings: Woken up by trains out the back. I've been to 3 St Christopher's in London and this was the worst, it wasn't unbearable but i certainly won't be back. I'd recommend trying the Shepherd's Bush or Camden ones instead. This place just wasn't well maintained at all.

This place has the potential to be a great hostel but it isn't there yet. L is for luxury (the common areas, game room and kitchen are stunning) however they've overlooked the basics (we booked a 10 bed, got a 14 bed, paid for a 4 bed!? and no hostel i've been to has ever charged for tea and coffee before! Also the cleaners on one day were stupidly noisy.) Good hostel but needs more work.

We were only staying here for one night as it was convenient for flying from Heathrow the next day. The rooms are very nice, i like the little curtains around the beds, the lockers were massive and breakfast was great. One minor issue was the fact we could still hear the music from the bar late into the night despite being 2 floors above it. Overall it was good for a short stay, great location for the airport but i prefer smaller, cosier hostels which tend to be more sociable.
