Very highly rated but not over-rated hostel. Small but clean, very welcoming atmosphere, friendly staff. Nice little kitchen. Small touches like the privacy curtains and valuables shelf on the dorm beds really go a long way. Close to the river and the nice older part of town. Highly recommended.
A classic party hostel. Surprisingly big, the main building a run-down but interesting old mansion and several other buildings out the back. Try if you can to book into one of the dorms at the rear - they are better supplied with toilets and (slightly) quieter. Some renovations seem underway too. I didn't use the kitchen much but as other reviews point out it's not exactly the most salubrious space - still, you're in New Orleans, eat out!
A large, immaculately clean hostel with lovely staff. It's a bit spread out (over two, soon to be 3+, levels) and can feel a little impersonal but separating the levels into a 24-hr common zone and a quiet dorm is a very good idea. Kitchen is large and spotless. Close to main street venues and not too far from bus stations. There's a bit of construction noise and fumes right now but when that's finished this will be an even better place to stay.
Friendly, knowledgable staff and a lovely atmosphere. I've never stayed in a place where off-duty staff are so likely to come out drinking with guests, show thwem the best places, etc. Kitchen could do with some more hardware, but it's only a new hostel so this would be easily remedied.
