Colonial House Quito

Quito, Ecuador

i really liked this hostel, friendly staff, relaxed atmosphere and older styled rooms which made me feel like i was in my grandmothers house...which was actually cool! Plenty of space to move about, good common area and free purified water which was a massive help on the hot days. Would recommend over Revolution hostel 5 mins away where a friend stayed - the owner was rude to us which we thought was very un-hostel like. Stay at Colonial House!!!

Awesome breakfast, home made jam, fresh fruit juice, fruit and bread. Pizzas were also tasty as anything, and beers cheap. Good atmosphere amongst the people staying here, a good 10 minute walk from the bus station but that isn't really a big deal.

I felt this was more like a hotel than a hostel. It was nice to relax for a couple days, lockers are in the reception area but as we had our own room it wasn't a huge deal. A good 20 minute walk from the central plaza but the place is spotlessly clean! value for money for couples, families or travellers wanting a break from the big party hostels.

Enjoyed our stay here, big courtyard to chill out with bean bags or tv room to relax. Heaps of space and probably the most comfortable bed i have slept in whilst travelling in South America (around 30 hostels!)

i loved this hostel, great helpful staff, always smiling, not overly crowded and not a raging party hostel. A good balance and willing to help out where possible. Only bad point was showers running out of hot water and havig to go get a staff member to change the gas over. They always got to it straight away but just a little annoying when you're already naked and ready for a hot shower! awesome place.

clean and tidy hostel, quite small but would be nice in the hotter months when the pool is full. was only a couple other people staying and we left in the middle of the night to get a bus so hard to judge the atmosphere on these. can exchange money here which is a bonus.

10 minutes from the beach, supermarket and food places not far away. a little cramped in the rooms although have had worse in Copacabana. Prices skyrocketed over the time we were there due to Rockin' Rio so opted for another hostel down the road. Overall, a good place to stay and a secure neighbourhood.

dubbed as the party hostel in Sao Paulo, its not. Bar doesn't open till 9pm, and not allowed to bring your own alcohol in. We shared one beer between 4 before 9pm and were told off. the hostel has atmosphere and the Anna, a staff member there is great!! Just thought the owner (i think it was) could relax or open the bar earlier. the rooms were fine, a curtain over the bottom bunk was good for a little extra privacy.

The bar is open every night at 7pm. We give free caipirinha at 9pm. Before those times we sell beers at reception. And yes, you can't bring alcohol from outside, as very clearly explained on the rules when you arrive. That's it! :)

Only stayed one night, but close to what we needed (supermarket, and bus station). Was a small hostel, and did the job.

We met a lot of other travellers here through the many parties which were a lot of fun. The staff are great! the only bad thing to say was it was a little cold a couple of the nights even with the heater and my thermal on.

This hostel is a great size, we had nearly everyone staying there round the table eating dinner which was great, the staff are excellent - especially Maga who helped us with our Spanish! Highly enjoyed my stay here.

The room was clean and the bed was fine but there was a layer of dust round the wall and when we moved the couch in the lounge area on our floor there was so much rubbish underneath it. it was clean enough overall but the cleaners need to look more
