I've rented a private room. Yes, San Francisco is expensive and $65 is probably not a lot of money for a private double this city, but you get what you pay for. The room was dirty and full of mold. Also, only a few of the lights worked. Except for the friendly Indian girl the staff was not very helpful or friendly. I would not recommend this place.

This is a very nice hostel on a good location for JR railpass owners. The only disadvantage of this hostel is that the common room closes at 24:00, but this is compensated with free breakfast and a lovely staff.
Great new hostel with sweet indoor cat and lovely staff.
The neighbourhood is very poor with a lot of homeless people that are drunk all day.The staff is not there. For us the worst thing was the discrimination of women! It's newly build with a lot of facilities for men(like a spa)but non for women!Women have no privacy at all in this hostel! The only two showers have to be shared with men, and there no place to change.Even if you lock the door men look at you through a window!toilets are shared too.For a better option go to Chou Oasis across the street
excelent hostel in the center of kyoto! However, although our double room was very spacious, the double bed realy was too small for two of us.
Nice hostel, but the twin rooms are small.
Great hostel, great location, beautiful city, great local tours and a lovely staff! What else could you wish for?
The inhouse onsen is great. However, several rooms have quite an unpleasant smell.
