This is a truly wonderful hostel by all standards. The atmosphere is very condusive for lounging, hanging out, reading, and meeting new people-- you almost don't want to leave the hostel! The layout of the hostel is great, and the dorm rooms are large and clean. Each bed has it's own locker, as well as shelf and nightlight-- all details seem to be well thought through. The staff are all very friendly and helpful, and everyone speaks English very well. The food and drinks are also very good!
This is a good hostel, although it's location in a large housing tower (or hotel?) is a bit strange, (having said that, it is easy to find and within walking distance of pretty much everything). The staff was very friendly, eager to talk, and helpful-- particularly the guy who worked during the mornings/afternoons, he was very nice and spoke English well. The place is minimal and clean, especially the bathrooms. The rooms are tidy as well, but the bed was a bit hard.
Jade Emu is a top notch hostel. The staff are incredibly helpful and accomodating, and speak English very well. The location is great, five minute walk to Dali Ancient Town. They organize many great tours within the area, I checked out the cormorant fishing which I very much enjoyed seeing (even if it is a bit touristy). There are a lot of Erhai Lake related tours and suggested trekking. The food here was very good (although sometimes a bit slow at night, make sure to order early).
This Chengdu hostel is the best hostel I've stayed in while traveling through China. It's comparable to a European hostel in its atmosphere-- it's a great place to pass the time, and has a very comfortable feel, with many people hanging out. The location is great, it's a five minute walk to the nearest subway, and not far from the People's Park. The room I rented (single room with ensuite) was the perfect size with all essential amenities, and was also well decorated-- what a perk!
Our recent stay at Zhuo Ma's was one of the best experiences I've had while traveling through China! Although Zhuo Ma was not here when we stayed, Ama and the rest of her family took amazing care of us. They arranged all transportation to and from the park, as well as to the airport. All three meals are provided, and breakfast and dinner are eaten in the communal room with other travelers. The food is traditional Tibetan, and very good! Ama even prepared homemade barley wine for dinner!

I thought this hostel was average, but I am unsure if there are many other options in the area. The staff varied in helpfulness, but mainly seemed uninterested (this of course could be due to the language barrier). The shared room I booked did not have individual lockers for each bed, so some people had to keep bags on the floor. The location of the hostel was great, right next to the bus station, so quite easy to get around Emei. The food was decent, but not great.
The Han Tang Inn is a great option if you're visiting Xi'an. The location is excellent, not far from the Bell Tower or Muslim Quarter, and within walking distance of most sites within the walled city. Rooms are simple but very clean, with nice common areas: a room to dine, watch TV, play pool, as well as a pleasant rooftop terrace/garden. What really sets this place apart though is the staff, all of whom are friendly, familiar with the city, and eager to help. Would highly recommend.

Nice, quaint, small hotel in Montparnasse. Rooms are small but clean, with nice views if you're looking out to the street. Perfect for a few days and if you are not planning on spending much time in the room. Neighborhood is within walking distance of many things.
Had a really great stay at Randolins! The location is amazing, right on the mountain with a shuttle bus that runs frequently between downtown St. Moritz and the hotel/hostel (only a 5 minute walk to the ski slopes). The staff are friendly and accommodating. Very affordable given its location. Looking forward to coming back in the summer-- thanks!
After staying at another hostel in central Amsterdam, Durty Nelly's was a huge upgrade and a pleasant surprise. There is an Irish pub/restaurant located on the bottom floor, which makes meeting people incredibly easy if you're traveling alone. The staff/bartenders are all very friendly and helpful, creating a wonderful atmosphere. Really great place and would definitely stay here upon returning. Many thanks!
Although Marrakech was great, Riad Massin made my trip to Morocco memorable. The whole staff is sensational, especially the women who cook the breakfast (which is also very good), everyone makes you feel at home. The rooms are beautiful, spacious, clean, and safe-- they have mini-lockers. The location is great, and ideal if you enjoy a nice walk. Went on a tour organized by the Riad which was a highlight of the trip. Highly recommended and looking forward to returning. Thanks!!
Verus is an absolutely wonderful raid. Gorgeous on the inside with nice, spacious rooms. The staff (especially Yussef) are both helpful and accommodating. The breakfast is fantastic and filling. Both clean and secure, would highly recommend! Also, if you have a craving for beer, they can accommodate that too!
Pension Souika is a must if staying in Chefchaoun. It is perfectly located near the central square in the medina and a great place to lounge and relax. The rooftop terrace has amazing views, and becomes lively at night. Staff is wonderful, as is the 20D breakfast offered. Highly recommended-- plan on staying longer than you've booked!!
For being located in an urban center, Lime Time is the best city hostel I've ever stayed in. The hostel has only a few rooms, so it's manageable and easy to meet other travelers. The staff is incredibly accommodating, friendly, and helpful-- they know the city well and even accompany travelers to clubs, bars, etc. The bar is great and includes a free caipirinha every night. Location is great, very close to Metro and bus stops. Had a fantastic stay, looking forward to returning.
Kaissara is undoubtedly the best hostel I have ever stayed at. George, the hostel owner, is fantastic, wonderfully accommodating and generous. Although Trindade remains an undiscovered gem, it is my favorite location in all of Brazil, and George makes this unforgettable destination even better. The hostel is more like a glorified tree-house, and is pristinely clean and secure (even offers yoga classes). The breakfast is amazing, as are the Mexican/ Indian dinners George prepares. Great times!!
