Good location and very friendly staff. The common room had a nice atmosphere to it, but there weren't many people at that moment. The shower is outside, but was otherwise fine. Overall would recommend this place.

The location was really excellent, close to the bund and metro line 2. The beds were basic, but the rooms otherwise functional, facilities quite good. The common room was always good to meet people, would definitely recommend.

Han Tang House

This was the best hostel I stayed in in China in terms of rooms, cleanliness and service. The softest beds and excellent showers. The hostel bar is also a cafe and it doesn't have an 'authentic Chinese' atmosphere if you are looking for that, but you always meet people. I took the tour to the terracotta warriors from the hostel which was good and fun! Two thumbs up!

I thought this hostel mainly caters to Chinese travelers, which isn't bad, but it has a different vibe depending on your preference. Beautiful courtyard, but you'll see enough of them. I went opposite to the Yamen hostel to chill and book my tours and other tickets, maybe it was because they couldn't find my hostel world booking during check-in that made me a bit weary. Rooms small and very basic, as are the showers rustic and the toilets not lit at night. Overall, go to the Yamen opposite.

Very nice place to stay in, the 4-person dorm was fine and all the other facilities were cleaned regularly. The common room was a nice place to meet other travelers and the tours they offer are good as well. One computer has a VPN for those deprived of Facebook :) Although not directly close to the main sights, the metro was close by. Would stay here again

Sunflower's Home Hostel

Although I only stayed very short, the staff are super kind and helpful. The hostel is a bit hard to find, it is not impossible and the location isn't that bad either given the good metro connection. The beds however are very hard and the bathroom needs maintenance.

Owner Comment (Hide)
Sorry for the hard bed, most asian hostels use these mattresses due to their health benefit for your body. But we have now purchased some more soft 'add-on' mattresses for everyone to use. So please come back to try them! :D

Very nice hostel, comfy rooms and the rooftop with the pooltable was nice to relax at. Just be careful to not loose to the fun barkeepers, otherwise it 50 push-ups for you :-)

Very nice hostel, very large and spacious, cool roof terrace and chill area with computers & wifi. Just 10 minutes walk from the main metro in a very nice neighbourhood with nightly food stalls etc. I stayed 4 nights in a dorm and can only recommend it to anyone!

The staff were very friendly and helpful, showers and bathroom optimal. Although maybe too few computers, they at least offered free internet!
