The mattresses definitely need replacing. The springs are visible and the beds are uncomfortable. Otherwise we were happy.

Hotel Artua'&Solferino

We were charged 10% extra to what the website advised when we arrived. There was no mention of this on the site. Wi-Fi was not available. Washing machine in bathroom wouldn't work. A call to reception was futile because the man on the phone couldn't speak English. Breakfast was good. Little tourist information was available. Water in shower was barely hot enough and on second night it reduced to a trickle. Wouldn't recommend this place.

We were given a key and left to our own resources. There was no tourist information provided. Beds were not very comfortable and the springs were easily felt. Wi-Fi was available only in the bar connected with the hostel. Breakfast was a croissant plus hot drink, not really adequate.

This very small apartment was very pleasant. Kitchen, dining room was adequate and free use of a washing machine was a bonus. It is close to the railway station and supermarket. Would recommend it for someone wanting a quiet time.

Beds were comfortable. There didn't seem to be anyone else there. Shower bracket was broken. So it had to be held by hand. Fridge hadn't been defrosted for some time. Tea towels and cloths in kitchen were very dirty and obviously hadn't been changed for a long time. Supermarket was close by.

Siena Hostel

Staff were most helpful and plenty of information was available. Room and bathroom were clean and everything else worked. There are large common areas in which to relax. All bus connections are very close. Breakfast was very adequate and we were supplied a packed breakfast the night before when we left early on a day trip away. We would definitely recommend this to hostel to travellers to Siena.

Mongolian Steppe Guesthouse

While the lady was helpful, the dorm room was very crowded and the end of it was the passage to the kitchen and a private room. we stayed in the private room. The bed was the worst I have ever slept on in a hostel. We were offered another room in another apartment on the second night but that meant shifting all our belongings. There was no lounge or room to relax. The kitchen was very small and 2 people couldn't cook a meal at the same time in there.

When the hostel is full, one toilet and one shower for everyone can sometimes be insufficient. The 2 girls in the office were extremely helpful. We had a problem with transport and they went out of their way to help us.

The directions to the hostel were inadequate and hostel was not sign posted. We only found it because we downloaded an enlarged map to show exactly where it was. There were no sitting areas other than small kitchen. We arrived very late evening and left following afternoon. Hostel objected to us having a meal in very small kitchen before we left. Our luggage had been left in storage.

Despite the troubles with our beds which were reconstructed late one night, we were reasonably happy. However there was no one at reception before 10a.m. which coud be a problem for some people.

Prior to arrival, we received an email offering us a glass of wine on arrival and 50% discount on the first night of our next booking. On arrival, the young man at reception was not very helpful and said that there was no wine or discount on our next booking. We were not that impressed.

We booked an 8 bed dorm and there were 15 beds in the room. The Wifi was hopeless. Even the desk computers in the hostel couldn't get signal. The kitchen was totally inadequate for the number of people staying here. There was no handle let alone lock on the bathroom/toilet door. Rayza, stayed April 2011

This hostel is the best value you will find. Yuen, the owner is amazingly clean and helpful. It is a small non-party hostel in an excellent location at a fantastic price. You can't do better than this. Raylene and Jim. (Australia) stayed early May 2010.
