My favourite place I've stayed at in Tokyo! Really fun, dedicated staff, great common room to meet people, and fantastic, clean rooms. Also, you'll meet Japanese people at this hostel! Always a plus. And it's got really great location, smack-bang in Asakusa, less than two-minutes to all the best places to eat.
This is a great Japanese guesthouse. It's very clean and homey, and the bar downstairs means that you'll be making heaps of friends in no time. It's a great place to drink and laugh with Japanese people! The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms and kept spotless. Highly recommended!
For some reason Cluj Napoca is a bit off the tourist trail in Romania, despite being a friendly, energetic city with amazing bars everywhere. So Transylvania Hostel was never as full as it should be. Despite that, it's a wonderful little hostel with a lot of space, very clean bathrooms, and perfectly located. The best thing is probably the staff, who, as everyone says, are extremely friendly and chilled out. They were a joy to hang out with. Great place to be and right near some wonderful bars!
This is one of those wonderful hostels where you can meet people very easily. The staff are extremely helpful and funny and it's very handy that they organise daytrips to the surrounding castles. It's located in a nice quiet street just 5 minutes away from the old town centre, and has a lot of space - three different levels. There's even an adorable dog to greet you when you come back. I had a fantastic time!
If you're staying in Bucharest, you really need to stay here. This is a very special hostel, the sort that will define your stay in Bucharest. Marius has painstakingly made the perfect hostel experience. The exterior of the building isn't much to look at, but once you're inside the hostel you'll be amazed at the 'cozyness' of it all. It oozes style and is within 5 minutes of Bucharest's best bars and restaurants. Do yourself a favour and stay here.
An amazing place. Cosy and laid out in a way that you'll easily make friends, all the facilities you need, in a beautiful part of tarnovo, close to the fortress. It's a no-brainer.
I can't think of anything bad about this place. It's situated up on the hill in the most beautiful part of Plovdiv's old town. The owner will go well out of his way to do anything for you - he's the sort who will personally drive you to the bus station without you even asking. They make a wonderful breakfast in the morning and will happily give you any advise. It's very clean inside and has a wonderful feeling of grandeur. Fantastic.
Apple Hostel is a great place to stay in Moscow. Great location, with cheap restaurants and the subway nearby! The staff are all fun young Russians who go right out of their way to help you with anything - especially finding places to visit and how to get there. As everyone says there's a wait for bathrooms but it's really not a problem. A very cozy place to stay and highly recommended.
First thing: It's a hotel really. The difference is that the staff are cool people who can organise activities for you, hostel style. So it's actually a very good mix. I booked a western style single and they upgraded to a double for no extra charge, which was nice! Rooms are good, business-hotel style rooms. I also stayed in a Japanese style room for one night and that was great too, the futon was comfortable. 10 mins walk to Ueno Station but it's an easy walk to Asakusa too! Recommended.
This is a very unique place. It's part hotel, part ryokan, but with a common area where you can meet fellow travellers easily. It's particularly good if you're travelling with friends--because you can just get a nice traditional Japanese room for yourselves. But the dorm experience felt strangely too intimate for strangers, as you have futons lying next to each other. But maybe that's just me. But you'll be surprised how perfect everything is in this super clean hotel with amazing facilities!
It's J-Hoppers and it's very good. Takayama is a relatively quiet town but you'll meet lots of travellers here and have a great time. The staff constantly have day-trips being organised, but it's also a great place to relax and unwind. In the dorms, your bed has a curtain and a lot of space for your luggage, and downstairs there are good showers and a coin-laundry system. So it's got everything you need. It's also a great place to meet Japanese travellers of all ages!
This is the place to come if you want to have a really great, charming time. The women here treat you like family. Before you know it, you're having gyoza-parties, making origami, and you've made a tonne of friends. It's an easy walk to the main station, and even though a lot of the sights are about 15 minutes away, you can walk to them via a beautiful canal. Excellent place. Thank you Maru and Yuko!
A comfortable cheap hotel. It's in a bad area of Osaka but it's only bad by Japanese standards. It's still close to the station and the main sights, and the rooms are very clean and comfortable. There is air-con if it's too hot too. The staff were very friendly. It's not a hostel though, although it's still possibly to meet other guests in the lobby. Amazing value for money, though!
This place was very clean and comfortable - I didn't mind the elevator system in the Chungking Mansions, it's a tad inconvenient but the guesthouse itself is perfect. Good security, extremely clean, it's a great option for staying in Hong Kong.
There is so much thought put into this hostel! You will love the details. It is clean, staff are all helpful and sweet, it is very clean and they are very generous with food and drink. It is a slight distance from the old town, but it is still walkable! Otherwise use the nearby tram.
This is one of those unique hostels where you can make friends with everyone easily. It's the only choice if you're in Olomouc and it's worth coming to Olomouc just for the experience!
Very close to metro and right in the middle of Hollywood. Old fashioned manor, not as big as you may think. Not a bad place to stay.
