In the beginning I found it a little bit difficult to find the hostel but after a while I realized that it was one of the easiest accessible hostels on the island. My perfect recommendation for a cold winter evening: watch the beautiful sunset and enjoy the home-made hot chocolate (one of the best I had in my life!). The staff are great, the bathrooms are cleaned twice a day and the prices are reasonable. You won´t regret your stay in this hostel.
The hostel lies a bit far away from the centre and the Southern beaches but you have good bus connections from the main street when walking down the hill on which the hostel is situated (about 10 minutes walking). The bathrooms are clean and the showers are hot, breakfast is okay. If you want to practise your Spanish, this will be your hostel (the owners of the hostel are Spanish natives and lots of Spanish speaking guests)!
One of the best hostels during my trip to South America! The breakfast is top, everyday there is home-made bread and jam and you can have it at any time of the day! The staff is also great and helpful. The rooms have a heating and there are sufficient bathrooms. The hostel computer suck though - they are slow and don´t ever use them to transfer photos, they are full of viruses!
El Refugio is one of the most popular and lively hostels in Pucón, it is even fully booked during low season!! So you can easily make friends and get to know people from other countries. The trips and activities offered are excellent and reasonably priced and the staff is very helpful with additional travel recommendations. The showers are hot, though a little bit dirty. I can really recommend this hostel to people who love to socialize and prefer long playing or conversation evenings.
The hostel is very eco friendly and has a great alternative character. The breakfast is made with love. The garden is the home of the dug of the owner ;-)
The hostel has a great atmosphere as it is full of the owner´s paintings and art works. Almost any object (plates, fridge, tiles, etc.) is decorated by his paintings which gives you the feeling of living in a museum. When we arrived at the hostel, it was overbooked but the landlady offered us to stay in her private apartment only few blocks away from the hostel. That was actually an upgrade as the apartment is situated right in front of "Ascensor Concepción" (sea view). Great customer service!

If you are a backpacker and want to know how it is to live in a "palafito" (house built on stilts) then Palafito Sur is the right option for you. The price is okay for Castro and you actually pay for the experience. The facilities and rooms are good, the breakfast is quite poor (only bread with instant coffee and marmelade). There are many dorms/shared rooms but actually only few bathrooms, so be prepared to wait a little bit in the morning when you want to take a shower.
The hostel is a very lovely home managed by a local family. The rooms are decorated with self-made wool products and the breakfast is made with love, our two host sisters even prepared a delicious cake for us! The family has a table with tourist information and gives you all advice you need. The house is easily accessible and has a big parking slot (perfect for those who arrive by car). I recommend you this hostel if you want to get to know Chiloe on an authentic way!

The atmosphere of the hostel is relaxing and makes you wanna surf and chill. The house is cosy, equipped with wooden beds and a chimney, massage facilities, reggae and easy listening music, so perfect for lazy days! The owners, Eduardo & Fernando, rent their surf equipment, organize tours and are always helpful if you need any kind of advice! As the hostel is quite new, there are many plans for the future. I am curious about its development and look forward to coming back next summer!
The hostel is a good choice for anybody who wants to meet other travellers. The bedrooms and bathrooms are clean and purposeful, though not all showers have hot water! From the top of the building you have a nice view over the whole city. Do NOT book tours via the hostel as they charge you a commission!
Very difficult to find but very clean and multicultural.
