Great stay at the Hostel Carioca, a good pick for Rio in terms of value. The owners make a big effort to help you enjoy the city. One small gripe - can only consume alcohol brought on premises. Would definitely stay here again.

Great location if you want to get to the airport, but otherwise quite isolated. Nice touches like plug and lamp next to every bed. Be aware that couples (even married couples) will be split into separate mix dorms. This felt more like a family holiday camp than a hostel.

Interesting staff... great location and efforts made to help guests socialise. Only 4 showers for the 16 bed dorm plus private room guests. Unfortunately no private place to get dressed after a shower - only the shower cubicle itself, the mixed dorm/mixed toilet. Good for a short stay to see the falls.

A really nice stay, staff very friendly and they even let us have breakfast before we officially checked in and leave our bags/use the kitchen on our last day. Nice mix of people and activities too, we tried wine tasting for free on our first night. Our stay here was by far the best thing about being in Mendoza - perhaps the most overrated place we've encountered so far. Once you've done a wine tour and visited the Fundacional museum get out of there quick.

The ladies at the hostel are quite charming and very caring. Everything was spotless in terms of cleanliness. Most of the people staying when we were there were in a couple, so perhaps not great for a solo traveller who hopes to meet people in the hostel. Only minor gripe was that the toilet was a trip down the corridor from our room, so not great for going in the night. Otherwise it was a lovely stay, nice breakfast, good location and would go back for another short trip.
