This was my first time staying here and was very impressed with it. The staff at reception were friendly, patient and helpful, very welcome after a long trip and arriving late. The room was clean, quiet and comfortable. Toilet flushed and the shower had hot water with pressure (both are deal breakers for me). Great funky roof top terrace to chill out on with good WiFi and reading material. Breakfast was a bit simple for the price but okay. I definitely recommend this hostel to other travelers.

Generator Hamburg, Hamburg, Germany

The hostel was loud, crowded and chaotic on arrival. Security guard not vigilant. Booked a room with a double bed and ensuite. The "double bed" was two single beds pushed together with a small gap in the middle and the "ensuite" a small, plastic shower, toilet and wash basin combined unit. Small room. Very disappointed. The hostel is admittedly extremely well located to the metro station and could be fun if you're out to party all night, but not if you're tired and looking for a place to rest.

Hello, thank you for sharing your impression. We are very sorry that your experience with us was negative. It is true that our bathrooms are no swimming halls, but we thought it nice to have one in the room instead sharing it with the whole floor. We also have 24/7 reception who will help if your neighbours to noisy , so just let us know next time. We would be really happy if you would give the Generator another chance. Best wishes from Hamburg Martin Major Front of House Manager

This was my first stay here so was pleasantly surprised by the cleanliness of room and convenient location of building; walking distance to the Bund and Metro Line 10. The man at the reception was helpful and friendly but his English was limited. Be warned: the reception is on the 12th floor of the building - Room 1210. Shower was hot with good water pressure and the toilet flushed (both are deal breakers for me). Would strongly recommend this place for short to medium stays.

I was looking for a quieter hostel to stay at, picked Tabinoya on a recommendation and was pleasantly surprised. It is located in the Old City and has a cosy and laid back vibe. There are kitchen facilities to prepare and cook your own food and the free WiFi works well. The showers and toilets are a little cramped but very clean with an excellent supply of hot water. The bunk beds have to be some of the most comfortable I've slept in. I highly recommend this hostel and would stay again.

I've stayed at the Mingtown several times as its conveniently located to The Bund, East Nanjing Road and Metro lines 2 and 10. As well as this the rooms are clean and the staff very friendly and helpful. My only constructive comment is the Internet can be a trifle slow at times. I strongly recommend this hostel not only for independent travellers but also for families.

The Heyuan is a great little hostel that incorporates traditional architecture into its building style. It's undergone several months of renovations which has thankfully been finished. The rooms are clean and comfortably warm esp. during the winter months. However, one of the things that's been a continual disappointment is that the water pressure in its showers is not good and the water temperature varies from scolding hot to freezing cold! Despite this I'd still recommend this hostel.

I initially booked a double bed room online and when we arrived they front desk staff informed us that the room wasn't available! However the staff were great and put us in a larger family style room which turned out to be perfect. The room was large, clean and had beautiful warm heating which was welcome as it was absolutely freezing outside. My only complaint was that the hot water pressure in the shower was very low. Despite this I highly recommend this hostel to other travellers.

I had a short but very sweet stay at this hostel. Conveniently located close to Old City. This hotel had a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff were excellent taking time to show around facilities and even provided suggestions for places to visit in Tallinn. Stayed in 4-bed dorm, bed was clean and comfortable but room could do with a few more places to store or hang things. Security lockers provided but located outside of room. Highly recommend this hostel for first timers to Tallinn.

The Tent Munich, Munich, Germany

The TENT Munich is more high end campsite than hostel accommodation with around 200 bunk beds in two large tents. Comfortable enough but if cold weather you really need a sleeping bag as the blankets provided don't quite keep you warm enough. The staff helpful and friendly and provide a positive vibe. Facilities such as kitchen, washing clothes are excellent. Free WiFi, but need more charge points. Showers are hot and well maintained. Great value for money for solo and group travellers.

Frankfurt Hostel, Frankfurt, Germany

My stay at this hostel was extremely brief due to a change in my travel plans. However in the short time there I found the rooms very clean and roomy (I had an 8 bed dorm) and the staff extremely friendly, helpful and approachable. One of the standouts of this excellent hostel is free breakfast available in the mornings and which also provides a great way to meet the other guests. I highly recommend this hostel to both seasoned travellers and first timers to Frankfurt.

This was a great hostel to stay at for my first time in Hamburg. As well as being clean it located close to the main railway station and regional bus depot. Nice touches such as free WiFi and a night light and charging station as part of each bed unit. The rooms were clean and well appointed with a strong box you could lock your belongings in, but you need your own lock. The only complaint was the in room bathrooms are small..but on each floor is a larger bathroom with shower.

The hostel is more akin to hotel accommodation than hostel accommodation and is probably one of the cleanest places I've even stayed in though the drains in the showers are a little plugged up. The things that detracted from the hostel: not enough charge points in the rooms and no facilities to cook or do laundry. However it wins in terms of location, value for money, staff friendliness and an all you can eat b'fast for 5.50 Euros. The bar located on the 6th floor has a comfortable atmosphere.

Its been a few years since I've stayed at this hostel but it is still a firm favourite. Conveniently located close to the Metro station and a five minute walk to the Bund, over time the hostel has upgraded its rooms and facilities but the lightening in the bathroom is still a little dark and there is only one washing machine. But these are minor things. On the positive side the staff and friendly and helpful and the accommodation great value for money. I will definitely stay here again.
