The North Hotel

Chiang Rai, Thailand

Well located hotel/hostel near Chiang Rai bus station and Night Bazaar, clean and helpful staff for booking tours and taxis. But before you stay, you should know that dorms are on the top floor and there is no elevator. Breakfast is NOT included, despite what the website and Hostelworld say. Lockers are available, but you can't lock the dorm doors, which made me a little nervous about someone coming in during the night. Mattresses are as hard as rocks and there is only one fan in the room.

Well run, modern and great for your money. It's close to Kensington Market and a 15 minute tram from the CN Tower.

Bed were very bad quality and no ladders to climb to top bunks.

It felt like a maze the way it's laid out. I liked that they had single beds instead of bunks and a la carte breakfast.

Driver from the airport was very rude. She made us wait an hour (two for some people) before driving us to the hostel. She didn't say a word to any of us or even offer to help with bags. Once we got to the hostel she opened the trunk and walked away. The only nice person was the morning receptionist.
