Hostel Terra Vista

Goreme, Turkey

Terra Vista's a home away from home. I booked for 3 nights and stayed for a week, that itself speaks volumes about the place. The owners Ahmet and Selo as well as their staff Ahmet junior are super friendly and helpful. Ahmet organised the balloon and green tour for me. Breakfast is great, you can always choose different options everyday. There's free tea every evening. Atmosphere is amazing. I met lovely people here. Location is fab, 2 mins away from the bus station and cafes and restaurants.

Memo, the owner is amazing and super helpful. I really enjoyed my 2 night stay here. It's very well located, walking distance to all attractions in Marmaris. The apple tea on arrival is a nice touch. The place was a bit quiet and I didn't get to meet many travellers but that's perhaps due to it being off season. All in all a great place. Highly recommended.

Amazing location in Monstriaki. It's a great hostel overall. The only thing that bothered me was the paid lockers for storing baggage before check-in or post check-out. Breakfast is basic but the rooftop terrace is nice. Not sure if this might be an issue with dorms on the 1st floor but people seemed to stand outside my dorm (105) and chat loudly post partying between 4-6am, so I didn't get much sleep.

It's such a cute hostel with its own funky cafe located in a cool narrow funky street of the old town. Tourist attractions are within walking distance but if you don't like walking too much the bus stop is only 2 mins away. All dorms have individual toilets, kitchens and fridges, all beds have reading lights and lockers. Staff are very helpful and friendly, all the girls were lovely. The atmosphere was great, I met lots of cool & friendly people. Breakfast for 2 euros is good value. Thanks guys

Love love love this place.....felt like home with such friendly and helpful staff and home cooked dinner. Dayana and Andy are absolutely amazing. I ended up staying in VT for 5 days instead of 2. Everything here is just awesome from the hostel building to the location, atmosphere and staff. It's certainly the best place to chill out and enjoy this lovely city. Totally recommend staying at HM and also doing the UFO tour, it's a MUST!! Be warned that you wouldn't wanna leave ;)

A cosy hostel with friendly atmosphere. Very comfy beds and spacious lockers. Having towels and breakfast included are very handy. Really close to old town and all tourist attractions in Plovdiv. I enjoyed my stay here and can certainly recommend it. Alot of stairs although it didn't bother me very much. Having a supermarket on the ground floor is very convenient.

Staff were amazing....i ended up extending my stay longer than planned. The hostel is always organising dinners and parties and its a great place to meet young travellers. Cozy atmosphere, a bit far from the city, however, its perfectly situated in between the city and golden sands. There's also a nice beach close to the hostel. I just wish the hostel provided lockers and free breakfast. All in all, I'd totally recommend it.

Very cool hostel with its own bar and conveniently located right on the beach. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The only negative was a foul smell in the toilet, perhaps some issue with the drains? Cleanliness of the toilets could also be better maintained. All in all I had a great stay.

Absolutely loved my stay here. Staff was amazing, especially Sebi. Nice kitchen, lounge room and patio. Located close to everything worth visiting in Brasov. Met really nice people. Hostel organised a great tour for me and another girl to visit the bear sanctuary and the castles, thanks Sebi :) Would highly recommend it!

One of the best hostels I've stayed at in Europe and there have been a great many. Alex, the owner is uber friendly and helpful. The dorms are very well designed keeping the backpackers' needs in mind, big lockers, extra space on the bunk beds, personal reading lamps and charging points. Brekky was great, cereal, eggs, meat, yogurt, tea/coffee, apples etc. The hostel location itself is great, right in the old town. I wish there were more than 2 bathrooms but that wouldn't make me not go back :)

Archipelago Hostel Old Town

Stockholm, Sweden

This place is a pensione, not a hostel. I waited 15 minutes outside the place since you have to wait to be buzzed in and there was only one staff looking after everything. There is no common room to hang out & thus no atmosphere. Kitchen's on a different floor of the hostel but not all guests are notified of it. No lockers in the rooms, no baggage storage for valuables after check-out. Reception is meant to operate only between 8am - 6pm but they don't even do that well. No tourist info provided

Mr Ryokans Ecohouse

Tallinn, Estonia

This isn't really a hostel. It's the owner's home being used as a one. There is only one combined toilet and bathroom for all the guests. There are no lockers or storage space for bags. There is no separate common area to hang out in and thus lacks atmosphere. Rates differ from day to day which is very strange as the good hostels in Tallinn don't seem to follow this. The owner offers good recommendations on things to do, however, is rarely available after check-in.

Free beer was a nice touch. A great hostel with a lively atmosphere. Staff is great, I had an issue with my dorm on the first night and when I asked the staff if I could be moved to another dorm they upgraded me to a private room. Thanks guys you're awesome. The wooden stairs are a bit tricky to use but no big deal. Location is fab.

Old Town Hostel East Wing

Kotor, Montenegro

Good staff, great location, amazing old building within the old town, good social atmosphere, individual lockers, good beds n dorms, good cooking facilities. More of a party hostel and loud at night because of being on a main street of old town. Definitely recommend it though. They also do free cocktails and snacks (mussels) most of the time. I spent 3 nights and had a comfortable stay.

This is my fav hostel ever.. coz it felt like a home away from home. The owners Andon & Tatjana are simply amazing. They are extremely hospitable & helpful. They even let us use their canoe :) Tatjana is the best chef ever...make sure to have atleast 1 meal there, its worth every cent. I was meant to stay here for 1-2 nights but ended up staying for 5 days. The kittens and pups were an added bonus. I can't wait to stay here again. Amazing people and stunning views of the lake, away from crowds

Unity hostel is definitely amongst my top 3....this place is awesome. Oli, the owner & manager is the coolest guy ever, so friendly and patient. Zoran was awesome too. In short the staff is incredible. I loved the atmosphere and social aspect, made some great friends here. Superb location, breakfast (boiled eggs, bread, tomatoes, tea/coffee) is pretty good, individual lockers in dorms, curtains attached to all bunks, good wifi & cooking facilities. Absolutely loved my stay. Highly recommended.

Hostel Santini Prague

Amazing hostel with super helpful staff (Chris was amazing). Location is pretty awesome too. The dorm was excellent, ut my biggest issue was the lack of toilets/ showers. I believe that the 4-5 dorms that did not have an ensuite were having to use the 1 bathroom, so approximately 24 people sharing 1 loo. There was always a queue and it was very frustrating. Brekky is basic too.

Jetpak alternative is an amazing hostel. It ticks all boxes.. brilliant atmosphere, amazing location in the Kreuzberg district, really friendly and helpful staff and a great place to meet new people. I made some great friends during my 4 nights here. They also serve good brekky (cafe style coffee, muesli, cereal, fruit & toast with a variety of condiments). Laura makes great coffee :) I would certainly stay here whenever in Berlin!

Hotel Pensione Ottaviani

Florence, Italy
66%

It took the staff 20-30 minutes just to check me in. The guy at the reception, who i think is the owner, manually filled out my passport details in a form. The hostel seemed like a pensione now converted into a hostel (as the name suggests). It didn't feel like a hostel so I am not rating the atmosphere as great. Directions to get there need to be more clear, i got totally lost on day 1. Shouldn't be charging to store luggage post check-out.
