The best of this place is its perfect location, the social vibe in the terrace and the tours they offer, specially the ones run by Jason, great tour guide. But the rest is quite poor. They should be embarrassed for the wifi service, many of us had to go to other bars to use wifi because we couldnt even check our emails at the hostel. And the staff sometimes is unpleasent. About security: a random guy from other hostel occuppied my upper bunk bed for a night and they didnt even notice.

Amazing location, walking distance from all the main sites. The wifi worked great. I think its a bit expensive, at least they could offer a better breakfast. Helpfull staff. If you want to chill its perfect but if you want fun and laughing might not be your place.

Its a boutique hostel, excellent if you want to chill or relax in a confort atmosphere. The staff is helpfull and very kind, but speak poor english so most of the times dont pay off or just give wrong directions. Breakfast should be much better for what you pay. It is a bit overpriced, although Yangon doesnt have a lot of confort hostels. Poor fun, too quite.

Great place, easy to meet people for solo traveler. Confort rooms. The staff was fun and helpfull, especially Kyle, Egli and the czech short guy. But for what they charge, breakfast should be better. And the food they sell is overpriced too but no big deal, u can eat and drink somewhere else. And i think they should control more the motocycle rent place they always recommend to go to, cause they are not reliable.

Excelent breakfast, and nice facilities in the dorms but the air con wasnt working as it should have with 43 degrees outside. Showers pretty dirty (big spiders and antz) and not confortable. The owner is really sweet and try to make u fell home, which is really nice, but sometimes you want information and its hard to get it, nobody speaks fluent english except her son, who is not around often. The worst: location, cause you depend on mototaxi all the time to go everywhere. Good hostel to chill.

View Property Reply

Dear Sir, I have never thought someone would assume pretty dirty to have ants and spiders in tropical zone country like Burma. Our a/c works properly during your stay and it would not be possible to have freezing cold temperature inside your room while the outside temperature is over 40'C all the time as there is constant heat conduction. And, it is not fair to say our location is the worst . If you take a little time to look the google map and notice Mandalay is a sprawling city and no matter where you stay, everything is not in walking distance. Last but not least, you came during Burmese new year period and almost all modes of transportation stop. So, your frustration on that doesn't mean we couldn't provide enough information.

Superb location. Its a compact tight place, hongkones style, but confortable. Sam, the manager, has a great attitude, takes you to great food tours and is really helpfull. The rest of the reception ladies arent so, and they dont speak very good english. I think it could be cleaner, but if i ever go back to HK, i will stay there again for sure.

Excellent location, good wifi. The cool manager Dominic aloud me to do a 4 hour later check out, which is always really important for a backpacker. In the cons list: the bed was unconfortable, the morning reception girl gave me bad directions twice and the shower was not working ok. breakfast could be better for what they charge.

Very nice hostel, superb location. They offer a good free walking tour and fun pub crawls. Helpful staff, especially Natali and Rosi. The night were there are no pubcrawls, i'd like if they could organize something for the guests. And also i would like the breafast to be included and not paid extra. But at least they offer coffe and tea all the time. Would stay there again for sure.

The best of this hostel is its owners, Cristina and Felipe, who are very kind and helpful and make you feel at home. They sell good meals for fair prices also. Great wifi and facilities. However, the hostel is a bit far away from the train and bus stations, which is annoying (but very close to the main square Obradoiro), and it was hard to find in my arrival. Also, i would like more social atmosphere.

Superb location and great facilities and wifi. The rooftop bar is a plus. The staff is poor, just polite but sometimes different members gave different directions and not very helpful. Anyway, i would stay here again, but i'd like that the hostel could do a bit more to gather the backpackers together.

The only reason to book here is the great common area with a pool looking at the Egean see and the free transport from and to the port & airpot. Beside that, is overpriced: the staff was often rude and unhelpful (except the argentine girl and the blond greek girl in the evening shift), poor room facilities, worst WiFi in history, too pricey food & drinks at the restaurant, decent but not-taken-care-of bathrooms (never toilet paper!) and unlighted dangerous path to the party beach.

This hostel is just a good swimming pool. The atmosphere is ruined by their obsession with being silent after 11pm, which made us feel we were in highschool. I arrived 2.30am for a flight delay and the reception guy shut the door twice in my face and wouldnt let me in. The other reception guyat night was also rude. I met 7 people who stayed there and they felt the same way, i dont get it why this hostel has such good ratings. They could provide a better breakfast and showers too.

The best was its breakfast and the cleaning ladies who prepared it, they were really nice. But the hostel is very expensive and is not congruent: showers were no good, wifi sometimes didnt work, im 1,85 m. height and my bed was 1,75. Besides, eventhough at the begining we thought it was funny the 165 stairs climbing, when you are tyred after a whole day, or you have heavy backpack, its not cool and it forces you to take a taxi. Not much social vibe, the owner does nothing for it.

Good hostel for just a day or 2, but really boring. The best is the location and the breakfast. I think is a bit overpriced. What really bugged me was that one of the reception lady was overcharging me, not considering the 13% of hostelworld. i had to go to my email and tell her that it was a mistake and she didnt seem to care. The other lady was forgetting about giving me back my key deposit. So, eventhough maybe they werent trying to scam me, it doesnt help to feel confy.

Above all, its a great hostel and i would stay there again for sure, especially for the terrace bar and the staff who works there at night and the social vibe of the hostel But...they are expensive and should improve some stuff to make it worth it. At breakfast, many times there is no coffe, or the coffe is cold. The common bathrooms are not very clean and the reception staff sometimes is rude or careless. They should also relax about the silence after 10pm.

Bathrooms in bad shape. They charge enough to provide at least decent coffe and no instant. The staff barely exist, and they offer better deals to some guests, lowering the rates of the rooms and the ones who booked ionline dont get that, so i ended up paying much more than the rest, which was unfair. The hostel doesnt help for a cool atmosphere but they are like ghost, its a completely anarchy hostel, wich ends up helping to create social vibe and nice parties.

They had good facilities and it was close to a nice beach, but that's all. The staff guys are like ghosts and never do something to lift up the atmosphere (that's the problem when hostel owners want to save money and hire volunteers, not workers). Hard to feel a social vibe there, and you are forced to take a cab to the nightlife area. If you just want to chill and rest, stay there, if not, stay somewhere in Zicatela beach.

Thanks for your comments. Our reception is actually closed at 11pm however our overnight staff are available to welcome guests that are arriving on a late flight. Upon arrival, we ask for payment or a passport as a guarantee until the reception is open the next morning. Another option available to customers is to pay by credit card if they don't have exact change and don't wish to leave their passport with the staff. We have a dormitory with a/c and most of our private rooms come with a/c.

Dont doubt it, this is the backpacker hot spot of Iguazú! I had a wonderfull experience. Excellent location, great breakfast and more important: amazing good and social vibe, especially for solo travelers. Manu, Alex, Juan and even the cleaning lady had a great attitude and made us feel confy. They set up dinners for every day, which makes it even easier to meet other backpackers. The only complaint would be the poor Wi Fi and the sometimes not-so-clean pool, but who hasn't a flaw?

Its close to great bars and restaurants and at the same time easy to get cheap bites. I wish I can go back soon, made great friends there.

Too boring and not backpacer at all, full of entire families and older people or children. Good facilities, but for Japan they are just good. Except the italian guy and this other japanese dude, at reception they were not very helpfull and they should improve their english. The location is too far away from the nightlife (and tokyo doesnt have night public transport).

Amazing facilites and excellent location. BUT, if you are looking for a more amused backpackery places, it is not this one. Boring and extremely calm, full of old people and families with little kids. Not the kind of backpacker place i look for. And they do nothing to gather people together, no pubcrawls, no walking tours, nothing. But if you just care for great facilities and security, this is your hostel. Staff should speak better english (except this guy Shin, he was great)

Great location and superb facilities. The thing is that is a huge hostel,it makes you feel like you are staying at a corporation, and im no corporate man, just a backpacker. I prefer more fun party atmosphere, with less families and elderly people and young children. Staff: half of them really great, like Noam or Yaron, other half not very pleasent. They offer some really good tours and some others not as good but its nice that they really care for your opinion. I can recommend it.

Excelent hostel! Amazing terrace, good breakfast, best location ever. The staff is great, specially Alex, the night shift reception guy. Although, the tour-guide they have is lame and it is not worth it. Easy to meet people for lonely travelers! If i ever come back, i will stay there for sure. The only thing that i can complain about is that the air con didnt work for 3 nights, but then it got fixed. they sworn it wasnt their fault but the technitian.

It should be called only "Nap", because is such a boring hostel. If we havent taken over the front yard to hang out and drink beer (from the 7Eleven, not the overpriced they sell), it would have been so boring. Even when they "celebrated" the 3rd anniversary it was boring, with elevator music in the back. Staff should improve their english. It's super expensive and they dont serve even a breakfast nor give towells. You better find another one cheaper and happier

Good location and facilities, fun environment but only till 11pm. The western staff is good, the vietnamise should learn english. The problem is the Castaway island tour they sell to Halong Bay. It is not worth the money, it is made for you to spend in overpriced booze, and it is good to have fun of course but they dont aknowledge that we arent all gringos, we can have other type of fun. Besides, i was robbed U$S300 in that tour, i found out the day after, the staff isnt trustworthy.

Thanks for the great review, we do try to get everyone together for fre body painting and for the free meal on full moon night ,thats about 200 people together in the outback bar . In the day time we have the pool in the garden with the sound system on and playing tunes all day . we had that running all day every day for this fullmoon ,next month we start to do BBQ,s in the garden from 6,30 pm with a dj . All the staff involved with customer services speak English, did you try to hold a coversation with the cleaner ? Yes sometimes i bark at the staff ,normally after i have spoken quietly with them and it has gone in one ear and out the other . I do get frustrated and let it out at the person that has caused me the stress. They tend to remember better after a barage . Sorry jon

Above all, the best located hostel in Morro, by far. But...poor facilities, poor wi fi, and the worst was the cleanliness. In 2 days i found 3 cockroach in my room, and during breakfast the mosquitos were regular. Good breakfast though, they serve it to you. Anyone comes in and out of that hostel, it´s ok by me but some day that could turn out in a bad situation. If you like a hippie careless hostel, this is your place. Nice hostel, great located but they dont give free breakfast, just a few days a week free cereal. They are over priced and could give at least a bagel. The pub crawl they set up it was real fun, they guy leading it was great. It´s really annoying that the check out is 10.30, way too early.

View Property Reply

Hi Daniel, Our check out time is 11:00 am and has never been any earlier then that. There is a breakfast 7 days a week at the local diner where our guests have a discount. Instead of having free breakfast every morning in the hostel, we have free things in the evenings instead, such as the free mixed drinks you enjoyed before our free pub crawl. We also have a free pasta dinner on Wednesday nights, a free wine and cheese night on Tuesdays and free beer every other night. I'm not sure why you were expecting a free breakfast when we don't advertise that anywhere. We believe that hostels are for meeting other travelers, so we do things in the evenings to encourage that.

If you are looking for some cheap place to stay a few hours, it is ok, but otherwise you should think a resort or rent a flat. This hostel had a nice owner/manager, but she was never around. there was a literal invasion of ants and i had to sleep in her childen's bedroom. Bugs and spideres were the rule, and the shower was cold and weak. There is no place around to buy a coffe in the morning, and it´s far away from the best beach of the island.

Anti fun and anti social hostel. At first glance, it was a military camp. I arrived and the reception unfriendly guy told me all these codes and rules, and they even ask you to take off your shoes as soon as you get in. Super expensive, they force you to buy a 5 euro bed linen! The make you shush at midnight in the kitchen, they even kicked as out. It is hard to meet people if you are alone because they dont set up fun plans. Try to not go if you have a better option.

View Property Reply

Hi, thank you for telling us so honestly how you felt about your stay at City Backpackers. It seems you were expecting something that we sadly couldn't provide. You see, our kitchen is surrounded by dorms, which really makes it impossible for the guests to sleep there, if their fellow travellers get too loud. That is why you were asked to leave. My definition of fun doesn't necessarily include alcohol - even if I totally enjoy getting drunk at times! I take guests out for picnics and adventures several times a week, so I have to disagree about us not setting up fun plans. During your three day stay you had the option to join our Guided Bike Picnic, and our Walking Tour Slash Beer Excursion. No other hostel in Sweden work as hard as we do to show our guests a good time. Of course we can always improve, but how can we show you a good time if you dont choose to join us? We don't force anyone to buy linen - on the contrary we don't include them in the price, so that people who want to cut costs by bringing their own can do that. But maybe that is something we should think about changing, so thank you for expressing your opinion about that. I will also e-mail you, since I am curious about other hostels which you liked more I always enjoy visiting great hostels and finding out their secrets! Kind regards, Lena, Chief of the City Backpacker Fun Squad

Im so sorry, because of cleanliness we are doing mounthly desinfection with special liquid spray in whole building. Thats the reason why the luggage must be taken out. The receptionst was informed, there wasnt any reason to behave impolite and unhelpful. Im very sorry for bad experience, I have solved this problem already, thank you for your feedback.

It was hard to find, the indications are not very clear. It wasnt much fun, but is big and they set up good tapas tours. They should invest in air conditioner or something.

Good hostel, the little swimming pool is a good plus, specially in summer. But plz, invest in some air-conditioner because the room was damn hot. And the breakfast was poor, by few pennies could get better. Also, i booked private bathroom but the bath was outside the room and anyone could end up using it. Great free walking tour by Allyson!

not much fun, the people at the reception lack of attitude, and it´s not very esthetic, but is amazingly located. location, location, location!

The staff is terribly bad! and the hostel is really boring. well located, but the breakfast is miserable and they just let you use 30 min of internet free. thats cheap!

Great location and facilites. But they delayed my check in for one hour and gave no good reason, wich was troubling for me, given that i needed the room. The staff is nice but they could do more to cheer the guests and create more fun

Very disappointing. Good facilities and location but the owner and the manager welcolmed me horrible, they were rude and not hosty at all. They forbit fun and its like a Gestapo after 10pm. The manager got up every time she heard a little noise. Dont go if you look for fun or to stay many days

The place was great located and the facilites were very good and clean. But the staff was not good at all, almost as poor in attitude as the breakfast.
