Excellent value for money if you book all nights with HW. It's an old hotel turned into a hostel. Rooms are clean and quite good quality. Location is good, there are just some homeless people outside who might bother you. The staff at reception was very nice and welcoming. Only the girl cleaning the common room started yelling at me when I walked on an area she had just cleaned: "Where do you think you are going? Can't you respect my work?!!!". I hadn't noticed that so was quite surprised...

It is a great hostel, just too expensive for a backpacker on a world tour. 40 usd is just too much for a hostel no matter the service or location that's why I changed the hostel. Otherwise they do everything right. Especially the common area outside is very cozy and for example the power points for every bed is something that many any other hostel doesn't offer.

I really enjoyed my stay at Cat Hostel. The events they organize are lots of fun and there is something going on every evening. The staff is nice, there is food for 5 dollars almost every evening if you are too lazy to cook yourself. The location is a bit far, you have to walk about 15 minutes and it might be quite hot during the day. The yard is a nice place to hang out, some hammocks or bag chairs might be an excellent addition. All good, totally recommend to stay here wheyou are in Las Vegas.

I chose this hostel because of the free internet even though it had a bit lower reviews than the other option. This is good value for money. Lazy feeling, beds are comfy, rooms excellent. The look outside is a bit ugly and the lounge looks more like big garage hall with tv and couches so some deco would be good if you have the chance. The limitation of 3 toasts at breakfast is a bit funny if you ask me (probably once sb ate too many and they made the rule).. Anyway, all good, can recommend.

Bamboo Beach

The best value accommodation and a FUN place to stay in the mainland. It's easy to plan your trip further because you can speak with other guests and also the staff is very helpful and can book the trip. Just watch out with the prices. The bula pass package for Yasawa islands I wanted to book was about 200 more than in the website of Awesome Adventures (they said the price included their discount). When I told I will book directly suddenly the price dropped to same (with no further discount).

Bula vinaka, thanks for the great comments and sorry for a misunderstanding about the Yasawa Combo price. In this case, the Yasawa brochure was in NZ$ and another guest (not our office) made an incorrect currency conversion into Fiji$. Our office team quickly spotted this error and the correct info was established. Rico (the staff in question) wishes to apologise about the situation and Awesome Adventures apologise about distributing their NZ$ brochures. We assure you that it is impossible to be charged more than the Yasawa website price :) Happy travels my friend. The Bamboo Tribe.

Hi Johanna Thanks for staying in City Garden lodge. The room you had booked was a twin room with a set of bunk beds which is cheaper than without the bunk beds. We have two different types of rooms. One is without the bunks & one with bunk.

In the four bed dorm the power point was behind one bed so using it was very difficult all the others except the one sleeping in that particular bed. No free wifi otherwise all good.

Thanks for your comments. We have tried to alleviate the limited power supply in rooms (original desin was certainly lacking there!) by providing power staions in some of the communal areas and keep looking at more options now that a lot of people are travelling with so many devices that require power/charging!

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed. They have great activities for almost every evening. The staff is amazing, rooms are clean, etc. Only minus is that it is quite expensive (even more during the tennis) and the internet is not free like in most of the hostels in the world (4 AUD per hour, 5 AUD per day or 10 AUD for 3 days).

Expensive due to tennis. The hostel is ok, rooms are messy though and internet slow or not working. The bar downstairs is a nice place to hangout. After breakfast you should go behind the bar to do the dishes which was a bit funny...

Good location, nice staff. The hostel was ok, the rooms hadn't been cleaned for a while (dust under the beds etc) but in general this is an average level hostel in Sydney. Internet did not work during my stay.

Little Hanoi Diamond

This is a hotel that tries to be a hostel. It's very clean but it lacks of character and the backpackers' feeling. The 4-bed dorm is on 6th floor so the climbing up is a pain on the long run, and you all have just one key so sometimes you have to run back and forth for the key. The friendliness of the staff feels fake, they learn your name and repeat it when ever possible but it didn't feel genuine to me. In addition they lied about the tours. You can get same tours much cheaper just next door.

Clean, friendly, free water, new building, good internet connection in the rooms, lift, guitar in the common room, breakfast in the top floor restaurant. No book exchange but books to borrow. This hostel is just great! The girl in the reception gives you a good price for the tours right away without bargaining so we booked all our tours with her. Friendly service, no elevator, free refillable water, great location, nice and clean room. We also had a nice crowd staying in the same room which made the stay even nicer. Highly recommend staying here compared to the other top rated hostel that I also tried!

Great value for money. Cheap food available in the kitchen. Easy to meet people in the common room. It was a bit cold so better to go with sleeping back (otherwise extra payment of 10 rs for liners). Also deposit of 500 rs for the key. Nice staff. Recommended.

Hotel Angel

Pokhara, Nepal
57%

Good value for money if you just ignore the staff/management. They try to make you to pay more, are not reliable if you have made a reservation over the phone and what I heard were trying to overcharge for some tours. They do not answer any e-mails, and basically make you feel unwanted and don't really care about you - they see you only as potential income (and only that). The other travellers and the garden make the atmosphere good.

Khangsar Guest House

Kathmandu, Nepal

Hotel is quite good quality for Nepal but definitely not 100% like many reviews suggested when I made the reservation. Many of these reviews also promoted their tours which other guests told were not a good deal at all. That made me think they make reservations for 1 night themselves so that they can write reviews and be on the top. A big spider, cockroach and bed bugs with hotel level pricing don't make a 100% hostel. I changed to more than 50% cheaper guest house with same quality close by.

Average Nepal level accommodation with a good price. Take a flashlight (there are scheduled electricity breaks in Nepal) and a sleeping liner with you (400-500 Rs in Thamel). A bit side from the touristic area - 20-30 min by taxi (250-300 Rs) or 30 min by bus (15 Rs) but close to the airport. Probably because of the location there aren't currently so many people staying so if you come alone it is not so easy to get to know people. The staff is very helpful.

Great place to stay in Boracay. Only thing was when I arrived the driver wanted to leave me on the street where I couldn't see any sign of the place. The sign was a bit hidden and it still was difficult to find the place, walking through a not-so-nice-looking area. But when I arrived the resort area was great, definitely value for the money. Also the way to the beach is a long narrow alley which might not feel the best when dark. The staff is very nice and helpful. Totally recommend.
