Casa di Carlo

While the accommodation is fairly basic and the shower was primitive, I loved this hostel. It was clean, the decor was lovely, and the atmosphere was great. Above all, the staff are the friendliest I've ever met in a hostel. Highly recommended.

La Casa Del Sol

I only spent two nights, but I thought it was fine. Be warned, being in the Medina, taxis can't drive up to it, so you will be dropped at the entrance to the medina and have to find your own way. This will probably involve hiring a guide, as the hostel is not easy to find. Guides are easy to find.

Pensi´┐Żn Santa Rita

Sta Rita is actually two floors of an apartment building in the newer part of Santiago, 10 mins walk from the historic center. There is a nice bar/restaurant virtually next door, and several more if you are prepared to explore the adjoining streets. The hostel was spotlessly clean. My bedroom was a single, not huge, but more than adequate. The bed was comfortable, the hosts absolutely delightful. Couldn\'t do enough to help. Excellent value for money, even though the walls were a bit thin.
