I made a miscalculation and booked the wrong night here, and this has happened to me once before, and the hostel has been kind enough to simply switch it. However, they didn't do that here even though it was an honest mistake, and I ended up paying double. The staff tried to help, but the owner didn't budge, which I thought was unreasonable considering your audience is budget travelers. The hostel itself is quite nice, chilled out atmosphere, spacious rooms, clean, decent kitchen, good location.
Really cute hostel, set at the end of a laneway so it's nice and quiet at night. Facilities are pretty good, staff is helpful and sorted out tickets for onward travel at base prices, they don't try to add extras like some travel agencies. Love the towelettes always offered when we get back from outside. We also appreciated the water bottles that they always gave us fresh every day, and the manager even helped me once by letting me use his personal laptop when my tablet wasnt working.
An absolute paradise tucked away in the rice fields around Kampot! Beautiful cottages and rooms, simple and as natural as possible. The staff are so lovely and very helpful and ready for a good conversation always. Take the sunset boat ride from here rather than in town where you'll be one of too many tourists. Here you get a custom experience, just you and the river and absolutely stunning countryside. Food is delicious and decently priced. All facilities are as promised, Loved every minute!
Big hostel, 8 bed basic dorm is right over the pub so be prepared for the noise. It's not terrible though, they shut down early enough. staff is helpful, tickets for everything available at the desk, good drink specials, food is average but good to have if you're coming off a big night :) great location close to everything, but still tucked away from traffic.
good location to be near the airport link without being around the overpriced hustle bustle of the Phaya Thai intersection, spacious dorm rooms with personal light and plug point, and a locker if you bring your own lock. staff is helpful, and the internet is up and down but it works for what you need. decent food options nearby, and of course, a 7-11 for all your backpacker needs :)
very homey sort of hostel with a good mix of short-term and long-term boarders, affordable meals in the evening and access to a massive full professional kitchen during the day, cheap drink specials at the bar downstairs, great place to go when I first got to Melbourne, Tiff is great and helps you with everything!
helpful staff, good location, good atmosphere. the double room is a bit cramped but the twin is massive (oddly enough). clean bathrooms. they had a million wifi networks but only one worked and we had to go thru trial and error to figure that out. they could have just told us. free map was helpful. restaurant was expensive, but that's at most in-hostel restaurants.
Good location, comfortable rooms. Our bathroom was stinky and the toilet kept getting clogged. We had to ask 2-3 times and wait an hour before someone came to fix it. We got late for our day out in the city. Some of the staff members were very cold mannered. One girl was really nice (sorry don't remember her name!) Internet was shaky in the rooms. Their tours are overpriced. I took 4 people to Jiankou on my own and it cost less than half of their price to the 'secret wall'.
Very well decorated common room (if a bit dim). Dorm was decent, lockers in the room. Bathroom was stinky. Close to metro and several buses. The staff was somewhat helpful, changed all the time. There were maybe 2-3 that spoke/understood enough English to help you immediately. We booked a taxi for a day thru them. They said it would cover parking but the driver paid no parking fees. They refused to give us a refund for any amount and just said sorry. Book your own independently! Not thru them!
5-7 minute walk from metro. lots of cheap restaurants nearby (food at hostel bar, but overpriced). not allowed to bring your food to common room though. my only complaint. rooms are clean and comfortable, with good aircon. you may not get wifi in your room if you are far from the common room. common room is cozy, roomy, has free computers for use. my family stayed with me here, their first time at a hostel, and they liked it a lot. our private room had a kettle and tea bags, which was nice!
There could be stronger/more fans in the dorm. But for $4, you get a comfortable bed, plenty of space to put your bag and belongings and a free locker, and really clean bathrooms/toilets. And its a great location. There's a delicious and cheap restaurant just downstairs where you can get fruit shakes to get you through the boiling afternoons. And Nang is really helpful with bookings for trips and always has a great story to tell. Internet could be more stable.
Located really conveniently down the street from the pier. Love the classroom theme for the rooms. Slide out drawers under the bed serve as perfect lockers. Bathrooms are clean. Ten minute walk to the market and plenty of restaurants around as well. I wish they'd have a small kitchen or even just a hot water kettle so you don't have to step out for morning coffee/tea. Common area is a good place to hang out, plenty of comfy couches, and a TV. Met some cool people here.
Easy to get to from airport, near a skytrain stop. Interesting neighborhood with great food options and character. Go to the market street just across the big road for street food! 20 min walk to the pier for the river ferry. Staff is very helpful, and always smiling. Lockers in the room are small but fit your valuables. 10 bed dorm is spacious, and excellent air con. Nice rooftop, but bring the mosquito repellent! 7eleven right next door. Clean bathrooms. Met plenty of cool people! Sweet decor!
For the price, one really can't complain. The location is great! close to the train station, vaporetto and a major street down which you can find all sorts of food and shops. The bathrooms are clean, attached to the rooms and that's really convenient, but if someone is showering, you can't use the toilet because it's all one unit. No activities within the hostel as such, no common area for socializing. To use internet you need a computer of your own. No kitchen, but hot water kettle is provided.
Huge hostel! Stayed in the 38 bed dorm and it wasn't chaotic as I thought it would be. Really cool decor throughout the building. Comfy lounge and bar and even a movie room. Spacious kitchen. Very jovial atmosphere at all times. Laundry in the building. Luggage storage is available and is quite convenient. Bus to airport is right there. Walking distance to all the royal mile sights and access to many buses nearby. Breakfast until noon was my favorite. Especially since they had weetabix!!
helpful staff. decent neighborhood, some weirdos out in the square nearby but pretty harmless. we got home pretty late from a pub crawl and it was fine. awesome pub crawl organized by gerald (most fun guy ever!). cool crowd from all over the world. clean rooms, nice large bathrooms. will definitely go back.
