Having curtains on the bunks is a lovely thoughtful touch! Given that the nearest bathroom was pretty tiny we'd have struggled to find anywhere to change without having a little privacy in this way. An amazing old building and really well thought out. Finding it was a bit of a struggle in the dark though... draw out a map before you come (unless you have the luxury of an i-phone!!)

Aussie Way Hostel

Brisbane, Australia

We stayed in a private room which was actually in a separate house at the back. Our house was lovely- traditional queenslander style in really good condition with the pool just outside. My only negative comments would be that the internet was additional cost ($5 for the day, even though we only wanted to check emails in the evening!). Supermarket is very close and city only a short walk away. Our room was lovely with double doors that opened onto a veranda, but this was also not very secure...

Youth Hostel Sorrento

Sorrento, Italy

The hostel was great and the location meant you had to walk along beuatiful bendy roads past all the lemon groves. Unfortunately, it did mean that it was a little hard to find and we took the long way round which is trying in 30 degrees! The 2nd floor garden was idylic but I advise bringing plenty of insect repellant for the mosquitos. The breakfast was disapointing after the previous hostel's offering. we weren't expecting the prepackaged slices of toast! Overall a success and great value!

Alice in Wonderland

Rome, Italy

The hostel was the perfect base for exploring Rome and the extensive and varied breakfast was a real hit! The decor was really beautifully done, the staff very friendly and helpful, and the ethos totally relaxed. The only thing that made it a little less secure was that the window in our room didnt quite shut properly, but when on the top floor overlooking a central courtyard, it's really not a big problem! Definately recommendable and worth the money.
