The bed and the bedroom was clean and comfortable but the rest of the place dirty and under performance . The breakfast was next to nothing and the worst breakfast in Egypt. Staff and the managers are friendly and helpful apart from the day time receptionist.

The hostel was very central and clean with a very friendly staff and helpful owner but a bit disorganized. I extended my stay at the front desk but a day after was told it was fully booked and moved me to another expensive hostel but nice. The wifi at the evening and night was not working properly ,the kitchen sink was dirty and old and couldn't make my food. The so called tour was a taxi to places and even the driver didn't want to take us to the places and showing the places from 5km far.

The hostel was one of the most expensive hostel that I've stayed in Italy and re sticked roles which was not mentioned on the website , when I arrived I was informed that I have to leave the room between 10.30 and 2.30 for the cleaning as it seems this is the only hostel needs cleaning especially a small hostel obviously the management have no understanding that people are on hold a and should not be any restrictions and curfew especially when it was not mentioned before. This was a perfect hostel, central and close to whatever you need. Absolutely great, good bed and welcoming and friendly staff and the receptionists. The hostel and the room was spotless with a great group of cleaners, the kitchen facilities was more than enough. Only negative is that they have not enough female dorm and I had to move to other hostel and silence time should be a bit earlier than 12 (I know its Spain) Thank you all

The hostel was clean and good staff and informative especially the woman at the reception . But the toilet and bathroom was old and no toilet seats. On website it's says kitchen but they were expecting to pay 50 for cooking and 20 for heating up the food.

The location was perfect and clean and knowledgeable staff but I had to ask the cleaner to vacuum the room properly and not only the middle of room. The WIFI was not working properly and was disconnected regularly . The management should Consider that is the hostel and needs poor powerful service . This was mentioned in other reviews but matter still remains unresolved . It was annoying that they took the 1st night payment 48 hours prior to my arrival

Email to manager to register my disappointment with their hostel on my arrival day. on your Website you mentioned kitchen and WIFI ,I would like to remind you that your kitchen facilities are very poor, there is no kettle to make tea or coffee and not even spoons and there are only 2 massive pots and hardly any proper plates in the kitchen. The wifi don't exist in your place apart from the reception area, gap between beds are 30cm and hardly we can walk in the room.

Absolutely perfect and beautiful hostel and very clean and central , good staff and very effective , efficient and generous managers. Tea , coffee , juice and biscuits all day . The only negative thing was the small kitchen's sink and many broken cups and plates. If I go back I definitely will stay there and recommend to others. I already sent some people there.

This was one of the best hostel I have ever stayed during my long term round the world trips . Staff were marvellous, helpful and really helpful. The Hostel was very clean and it was clean on a regular basis. I think kitchen needs some attention and more fridge freezer as it is a big hostel and 2 of them is not enough. It would have been nice if there was some chairs and a table in the room too. Thank you owner and staff team ,you have made my stay so pleasent .

It was clean with good kitchen facilities , easy to reach and fantastic staff but freezing cold and it was evident that the owner did not bother for the guests to shivering while sitting downstairs and in the bedrooms . Although he provided a heater for our room but the building was soooo cold and they should consider that it is winter. The wifi was so annoying and only works in a lobby because the owner didn't like the guests using wifi in the bedrooms , such a weird things.

The hostel is a nice place and reasonably clean with a good kitchen facilities. Staff are helpful apart from the brainless one who thrown my freshly cooked food to the bin. Some of the rooms and beds are too small and perhaps worse than the prison cells and the concentration camp and the owner should reconsider the layout and reduced the amounts of the beds in the room and understanding that the travellers are human too.

The Judy House, Negril, Jamaica

1st Jun 2016

It's a beautiful place and garden but unfortunately the owner was not there and the younger woman receptionist was on the phone most of the times and every time I needed sometjhing I had to wait for 10-15 for her, also 1 night there was no staff on site to check-in the new guests and they had to stay outside all night, I am sure if the owner was there it would have been better. Also the rooms are made of metal units and was boiling hot. They should be clear about the tax and not extra tax.

View Property Reply

Many thanks for taking the time to review the Judy House and for your 'beautiful' description of it, you thought the construction weird. The taxes (not extra tax), which seemed to be your main concern are clearly stated on my Judy House Hostelworld page. I re-confirmed them you in writing after my Senior Housekeeper reported to me that you were refusing pay the taxes and she could not collect any payment from you for your room 2 days after arrival. To ensure some payment was collected from you I instructed her to collect your room payment without the taxes. You then booked another night and paid the taxes without argument at all for that 4th night? My 'young' 36 year old housekeeper would not have credit on her 'pay as you go' phone to be 'talking all the time for 10-15 mins'. The guest manual in your room is there to answer lots of your questions, which is not her job normally. There is also free internet where you can research questions/answers 24/7's. My Hostel rooms are constructed out of local products zinc and wood, painted, neatly furnished, clean and tidy with fans and mosquito nets. They are designed for travellers who need somewhere to sleep and store their belongings safely. They are cool at night and not designed for daytime living. The situation you described as 'no staff on site' for new guests was normal between the office closing, when all booked guest are checked in, and night security coming on duty. The guests you describe were 'walk ins', people not booked in which I do not pay staff to wait around for. They were certainly were not 'outside all night' as you report. If the "owner had been there" it would not have been any different as my staff followed correct procedure. I would, however, ensured that you paid in full. You left owing us 3 nights taxes which I should like to be paid for immediately. I will be sending you a Paypal invoice to help you do this.

The hostel is in a residential area and far from the centre, it's a beautiful place and nice views . The doorm it's too small for 5 beds , fan it's not adequate and at night its hard to sleep as the room it's next to the public area and the noise of others will disturbing the guests . The owner was clearly were treating the guests very differently . I had to clean the bath as the bath was blocked and water was not going down.

It's ok hostel and nothing special about it, wife was annoying and not good and cheap tea and coffee and not ordinary black tea or milk and not a kettle to boil the water. Stefano try to keep his guest happy and not even bothered to ask or to put the sign in the kitchen for the guests to clean after using the kitchens stuff.

View Property Reply

Porty Hostel offers tea, coffee and sugar for free 24 hours 24. For milk or specialty teas around the hostel is full of small shops where you can buy anything you want at very competitive prices. Porty Hostel provides a small pot on purpose for tea because I'm not able to find a kettle that would not break after just a month (I had communicated this to the guest). In all of Jamaica Wi-Fi can be annoying for weeks and then it can work perfectly for weeks (even this I had communicated to the guest). Bless

I will return to Barcelona but wont stay here again until the reviews by other travellers say that the wifi is good. Within 9 months of travelling this was the worst wifi and smallest room that Ive seen. Every time Ive reported about the wifi their staff said oh mine is connected. Many travellers complained but a few have reported. The owner it seems dont bother to improve the wifi and dont care about the customers. Staff are very knowledgable, friendly and welcoming. The place is very clean.

The good things: its central and a nice worker Christine thats it. Its old place and old furniture with a small beds and the beds are nearly attached to each other that you could hug your room mate, my room was not cleaned during my stay, 4 days. The hostel was expensive for its quality and they charge tourist tax of €2.50 and everywhere else is €1 or 1.50 with breakfast or tea and coffee and here you pay at least €15 for just a bed and due to the noises from outside you wont be able to sleep .

It is a clean place and its near to the airport and thats a good point but far from other touristic places . The guy is a penny pinching and not bother to return your change. Breakfast its a joke, a pre pack croscin (and not even fresh) and drink and not even milk for tea or coffee. There are approximately 15 beds and only one toilet/bathroom and in the morning the waiting time its around 45 minutes if you are lucky. Small kitchen but guests are allowed to make only snacks and after 2pm.

this was a good hostel but the management should care a bit for travellers and provide the facilities such as a kitchen and free tea and coffee. we as the travellers made them rich and they can consider that the city its expensive and the long travellers cant afford eating out or in your place ...Money its not everything being human and consider for others its the best. Also you should consider of selling the HI card and understand that travellers don't stay in the hostel in their home city.

such a greedy owner, the cost of internet and prints are more than Europe and the hostel run mainly by volunteers whom have no knowledge about the places for tourists. You have to open 10 kitchens units till you find the things you are looking for and there is no labels on the units. Most hostels with that price will provide breakfast but here milk is not provided either, its a money making business and not much bothered about the tourists.

View Property Reply

Hello! I am so sorry you feel this way - I am the owner and the hostel is NOT run by volunteers. We have 2 interns working for experience at reception but they are always assisting our local employees. Our wi-fi is free, but we do charge to use the guest computers as they are expensive to maintain, but it is a standard charge that most internet cafes in Cape Town would charge. I am sorry that you found us expensive, but there are pricier hostels in Cape Town than ours - with no breakfast!

The manager was great and very helpful, but not impressed with the service and it was so boring to stay there on new years eve and nothing was organised for the guests despite the fact the price has gone up for the new year.i stayed in 37 hostels in s.africa and the only place that the coffee or tea was not provided, it was obvious the owner likes the income but not the expenditure.it was so difficult to sit on the bed because of the gaps between the beds and no sits in the room and small rooms

I wished the backpackets ownets in south africa do not assume that all travellets are going to places by the private car or taxi and provide proper direction by public transpory, as I eas up and down the street for 20 minutes till I find the place.

Not impressed at all, the owner even not bothered to name the main street and I was 45 minutes up and down the street to find the place, he likes the income but not the expenditure, only one woman worker and she is the cleaner, recieptionist caretaker, manager etc....no proper facilities and no proper wi fi and no bin or safe, bumpy mattress and many beds in a small room

Thank you for your feedback Anonymous. Although we try our best to keep all our guests happy, it is at times difficult to do so. While we are still a fairly new hostel, we learn lessons everyday & will continue to improve with experience!

Such a greedy owner,6 beds in a box room and 120 euros a night income but not bother to provide proper facilities, guests should buy they cutlery and no tea coffee making facilities.no matter what we say its near university and students especially foreign students need a place. No proper direction and I was 45 minutes up and down the streets

It was best value for money, good staff , close to the beach but far from the tourist attractions. No discriminations against women and the same price for the female and mixed dorm. The facilities were so bad, only few plates for a hostel with 100 something beds, no cups and the old and broken TV.

The great location and good staff, but crapy kitchens facilities and the computer was not working properly. The balcony could have been cleaned and good for relaxing. You have to go 3 floors up to the kitchen and back two floors down and go up one floor to the most isolated part of the hostel to the female doorms. As a woman you definitely become discriminated in the Funcky hostels in Spain because they charge much more than mixed doorm

Hello , thanks for the comment. We are working to fix the problems. We agree with you , we apologize because of the kitchen facilities, computer and balcony(we hope you understand that it is under maintenance)The balcony is in the upper terrace ,the female dorm is in another little stairs, but in the old quarter there is no chance for having an elevator. The price in female dorm is higher because the room is smaller than the mixed dorms (the more beds in the room the lower price) Take care

Great location and great staff,. very clean and close to all touristic places....only one computer was working and very slow and hopefully they upgraded them..women are still discriminated in this place and have to pay a lot to stay in the female doorm, I hope they stop the extra charges...Its 21st century ....

Hi there! It was a great pleasure having you here as our guest – you are a very lovely person. As regards discrimination against women, we believe that you are mistaken: no one is forced to stay in the female dorm, as there are plenty of other rooms and dorms available. The female dorm has only two beds, so it´s a little bit more expensive than other dorms with more beds. Maybe we will open also a room exclusively for guys – if there is enough demand for it.

Fellow travelers, please dont book this place until they understand how to manage the hostel and respect the customers. The family and workers have priority to watch TV and when I challenged them for changing the chanell that I was watching their son went out and switched off the receiver. The cooker which only has two nubs is mainly used for their own cooking.
