I really can't fault Books hostel - the staff were very friendly, great atmosphere with happy hour in the bar every night and multiple activities on offer. It was nice and clean - cleaned daily by cleaning staff, and the breakfast was great... fresh chopped fruit, toast, cereal, tea and coffee and toasted ham and cheese sandwiches. Great location too - minutes walk from all of the nightlife in Lapa with easy bus connections to the beaches. Thanks to the staff for a great stay!

Pros: Clean enough (hostels are rarely immaculate), the showers are good, it's spacious, and the decor is interesting, kitchen is cosy and selection of cereals and waffles is good. Location is not bad either. Cons: No way to really lock up your stuff - "housekeeping" just let themselves in and there seems to be a lot of people with keys to your room. Noise is the biggest problem - the loud st below, the fire station nearby, inconsiderate guests that aren't told to shut up after 11pm and the nightclub on the
