Blue Mountains Backpacker Hostel

Blue Mountains, Australia

Kitchen big and well equipped, big communal space for socialising (not the most lively hostel, but there were a few people playing drinking games over the weekend), decent location, bunk beds a bit cheap and wobbly

Staff are friendly, facilities good, and rooms clean and comfortable although a little on the small side. Air con in rooms which is a bonus.

One Stop Hostel

Phnom Penh, Cambodia

The hostel was nice, staff very friendly and beds comfortable - each bunk has a light and plug socket which is always useful. They have a TV area with a decent selection of films but its not a very comfy space to chill out in - needs more cushions. There are lots of restaurants in the area but also a lot of seedy bars, doesn't feel dangerous though. I'd recommend the hostel and stay here again

Panda Guest House

Siem Reap, Cambodia

Panda guesthouse was clean and comfortable and the staff polite and helpful. Its not a particularly sociable place so I wouldn't recommend it for solo travellers looking to meet people, but its good value for couples or friends travelling together

Kamin Bird Hostel

Bangkok, Thailand
77%

The couple who run the hostel are lovely - I was unwell one day and the girl (I don't know her name :() was very kind. The place is clean and comfortable, the only negative for me was the location - although I didn't want the craziness of khao San road, the area Kamin Bird in is rather quiet (although that may be a positive for some). Its well connected by public transport though so easy enough to get around

Ai Phuket Hostel

Really nice comfortable hostel with a decent breakfast. The dorms are air conditioned and have duvets which was a treat, it was probably the best night's sleep I've had in a while. I'd definitely recommend Air Phuket and would certainly stay there again

The Mitraa

Singapore, Singapore
77%

The hostel itself is nothing special - the beds are quite comfy, breakfast okay and everything is pretty clean- average but not exceptional. Its not a particularly social hostel so I probably wouldn't recommended it to solo travellers looking to meet people or those seeking a party hostel. The selling point of The Mitraa is definitely the staff who were incredibly friendly and helpful, and had loads of tips and advice on where to go and what to do in the city which my friend and I appreciated.

Backpackers Holiday Village

Byron Bay, Australia

We were upgraded from a dorm to a shared room in one of the apartments which was great and we ended up extending our stay. If you want quieter, more chilled accommodation I would recommend the apartment as most are set away from the communal area. We had our own kitchen which was really convenient.

The hostel looks very nice - bar with views across the sea, rooms with french patio doors opening onto a terrace... however I went there as a backpacker travelling around Europe and the majority of other guests were there to party, drink and get laid. It wasn't the kind of vibe I look for in a hostel but perhaps out of summer time it would be much nicer. It was also fairly annoying that the kitchen closes and everyone gets kicked out of the bar/off the terrace at 10pm.

Hostel Mali Mrak Zagreb

Zagreb, Croatia
49%

The hostel was very far out of the centre of town in a quiet (but not very welcoming) neighbourhood. Our room was in the basement that was reached by outdoor steps with no external door. We weren't given a key to our room and the bars across the windows did not fill us with hope about how safe the area was. The general vibe of the place was a bit creepy and isolated. To give them their due, the guy at reception was friendly and the room was clean (although the bathroom stank).

Well now, thanks very much indeed! For our guests: The bathrooms are cleaned every day. Since we don't really run around like neurotics after every guest to check if they cleaned up after themselves (we have common sense house rules: clean up after yourself), and you were alone on that floor with the bathroom, go figure :) As for the neighbourhood - the majority of our guests feel quite at home here actually, which is the point of the whole story. I guess it's what you bring with you that reflects on your stay ;) Oh, and the bars on the windows are not to keep the terrible, creepy dangers of this haunted hood away, it's to keep you from leaving...ever (evil laugh). Hope you learn how to relax, have a good time on the remainder of your trip. Igor

Vila Veselova

Ljubljana, Slovenia
63%

Vila Veselova is more of a classic hostel than the shiny, large, new hotel-esque hostels - it is a large converted house with a kitchen, breakfast/communal room, shared bathroom and a few bedrooms. It was quite quiet; not a particularly buzzing atmosphere, but the staff were (mostly)friendly and it was clean and pleasant. The drawbacks were that it was very expensive (not sure I'd say it's worth the money) and the breakfast that is included is very disappointing.

Czech Inn

We had a really lovely stay at the Czech Inn; the staff were very friendly and helpful, the breakfast and beer was delicious, our room mates were really nice, the showers were incredible(!)... we would definitely stay there again.

Itaca Hostel

Barcelona, Spain

Hostel was really nice, would definitely stay there again. It was very small but in an amazing location and the staff were very helpful. Everything was always clean and tidy, the only downside was that the common areas closed around 10:30/11pm which seemed a bit early.
