clean and orderly, but missing soap and two towels. check in is only between 5 and 8pm. This is definitely not a party hostel. Its also a close walk to the Alpenzoo and access to the funicular that runs between downtown and the nordkletternbahn that goes to the top of the closest mountain.

a bit bummed that i reserved for two nights and had to check out after my first night and check into a different room that evening. i left my bags in the luggage room in the basement. the lockers were small under the beds, and the storage room could have used lockable cabinets. guests are a wide range of ages, but i would say they were primarily college age when i was there.
nice location, but it felt a little creepy having no secure entrance to the grounds. some rooms are very dark and heating does not turn on until 9pm. rooms were clean, staff helpful, and breakfast was good.
mostly college age kids on holiday, but the crowd was calm. i appreciated that it was not a party atmosphere. balcony has a view to the bosphorous : ) but the travel agent was a little pushy.
the sauna tour was fantastic. could be a little bit loud at night in the rooms surrounding the courtyard, but the rooms were warm and comfortable. lockers in the rooms were convenient.
i stayed in two rooms, in one (rm 3) the heat did not work and the room was dark. the other room (rm 2) was fine. rented linens are old but clean. Noise carried from the lounge to the rooms, and so i suspect whether it is loud is dependent on the other guests. It was mostly quiet during my time, except during breakfast. The location near Norreport station (a heavily trafficked station) was perfect.
i had a private room, no window. the hallways were dark and empty. location is on the main shopping street in chinatown, which means that it\'s a fairly central location but difficult to find when the market is set up at night. don\'t think i would stay here for an extended period of time but it was fine for a couple nights.
Taxis won\'t know where this place is, so bring an address. It is near the entrance to Kata beach. The owner is from norway (i think) and is very helpful but can be chatty. He speaks english. A key was provided for the door at night and we had a private balcony.
