Great hostel, location somewhat easy to find but directions could have been explained better. A small steel door under a sign next to a bank that no longer exists. Excellent staff, great service & fun place to hang out. Slept in 18 bed dorm bed close to the floor which worked out. Good bathrooms. City good for 1 or 2 days. Hostel just needs to give better directions especially if coming in at night from the airport.
Great hostel, easy location to find (under the arch 1st st. to the right), comfortable dorm, staff, clean, value all excellent. They kept it quiet at night & I liked that the bathroom/showers were on a different level, less noise. The reception area is the kitchen/hang-out area inside but there is an outside patio as well as a courtyard downstairs. The only thing I didn't like was that people smoked outside on the patio so there was no where else to eat your breakfast at a table. Bfast extra.
Second stay in 2 yrs, great hostel, friendly European staff, most comfortable dorm I've stayed in in a while. Facilities incl a big pool, quiet areas to sit outside & the whole setting is a garden, former tennis club & vineyard. 25-35 min walk from Fira, the center where it is more expensive. The trick is to rent a scooter or share a car to go around the island. Scooter 12 euros a day from the place at the corner. Vineyards are 10 min by scooter, outdoor movie theatre 15 min, easy to do.
Really no choice if you want a dorm room on Mykonos. Advise you to just sleep there, using earplugs. Place valuables at reception. It is very basic, even at this price for rows of huts, tents, or other army looking units. Most people like to drink all day, listen to loud music by the pool. At night most people go out drinking & partying from 11-5/6am get wasted, sleep around. Cleaning is very poor, the lady makes 3-4 brush strokes. Noisy fan runs all night swirling dust making folks sick.
Great location, staff & bed, only problem could not sleep, even with earplugs. Thought I would try a different hostel in Athens, as been here 3 times in 2 yrs., other too expensive. Air conditioner did not work first night, both nights most dorm room face the inner courtyard above the bar. It's not the place but the people who get drunk, shout, play games at the bar until 1 or 2am. The small bar space all sound goes up & is magnified. Staff continue serve drunk people more beer.
Difficult to recommend but I did enjoy my stay because I only slept there. Location is hard to find, in an older apt. building. Comfortable bed, cramped room, no lockers, 1 bathroom incl toilet shared by 3 different dorm rooms, bathroom needs repairs & not cleaned well, has mold. Owner spends his time & money on his other hostel. Wifi works, staff are very nice, owner charges a lot for a tour. Suggest you rally others rent your own car to tour the wineries, & other locations (20 euros/day).
Excellent hostel, I rarely give that rating. Great location, easy to find, welcoming, great breakfast (cereal) no fruit but that would ask too much. Security for everything, multiple staff there & always working for guests (train, bus, connections, suggestions). This is the only hostel in Romania where the staff work around the clock for hostelers needs. Travelers stay longer than planned here & fellow hostelers ask new hostelers to lunch, dinner or other activities. Comfortable beds.
Good hostel especially since I was 1 of 3 people in 10 person dorm. Easy to find. Staff friendly but played videos or played on the computer each day, not interested in guests. 1 staff kept complaining he was tired & had to work. 1 toilet/shower for all the people in the 10 person dorm & I think the rest of the hostel. No lockers in the dorm. Kitchen small, no where to hang out, breakfast cost extra. Comfortable bed but wear earplugs as facing the square, above bars/restaurants.
Easy to find, nice lady speaks little English but not needed. It Is a pension hotel very clean & they made the 2 attic rooms into dorm rooms. Only 2 people in the dorm when I was there which was made it more private & quieter. I don't think the town gets many hostelers. The town is good for one night stay. No breakfast that I knew of but it's not needed as the town & everything is so cheap. I would stay again.
Easy to find. Great relaxed vibe, average breakfast cereal only. Wish I could say I slept but room 1 bed 5 is most comfortable. It has springs that make a lot of noise & are digging into your back. Others said they had a more comfortable bed. Only other comment is all the staff smoke all the time & the noise 11pm. The smoke comes into the dorms, you can not sit outside without someone next to you smoking. The staff is always talking loudly even at 7am with the cleaning lady
Good location, easy to find, easy 20 min walk to the old center. Good kitchen, downstairs shower/bathroom is poor, best showers & bathrooms are upstairs. Only 1 in 4 staff were friendly. No staff know anything about travel in Romania, haven't traveled in their own country & can only tell you go to Brasov where the hostel there can tell you information. Staff does not know the times of any trains or buses. This happens when you have local staff work who have no connection to the hostel.
2nd visit. Great location, staff, relaxing areas, laundry, kitchen & they make you a hot water bottle for your bed, in case Bogata is cold. Not a party hostel, which is good. French pastry shop on the corner across from the hostel check out. Only suggestion is to give directions from the bus terminal. Walk 6 blocks to the TransMilenio (red buses that drive in their own lanes), take J6 into the center until it ends (bus driver will tell you), follow everyone, take F23 to Museo Oreo.
Extended my stay here. Wonderful staff, perfect for lounging in hammocks, reading, walks. Breakfast is included & the best. You pay a small price if you want other items such as pancakes, waffles & its absolutely worth it. Town 20 minutes walk very easy. Perfect hostel is take it easy, & enjoy nature. Bring a sweater as it can get cold at night in January, & it will rain part of the day. That's normal & doesn't take away from the place. I look forward to my next visit
Wonderful hostel. Great rooms, powerful & hot showers, kitchen, outdoor pizza oven, indoor & outdoor space including hammocks to relax with a garden. Can order breakfast & dinner, reasonable. 25 minutes walk into town, nice to stay in a quiet space, safe to walk. Relaxing & beautiful area. Definitely stop for 2-3 days. This hostel compares with La Serrana in Salento as two of the best in all of Columbia. Taxi to the place is 5000 pesos & they they deduct it from your bill. Good staff.
Very basic. Having been in Columbia one month, this is the only bad review I will write. Location is good but so are other hostels. No air conditioning, no windows in room, reception desk with care takers loud family outside day & night, loud. No kitchen, only a fridge & sink. No beer, caretaker said they were out but I was there 3 days. Shower is sometimes warm, other times cold. TV is played loud all day mostly for caretakers son. Dog smells & goes into room that are not locked.
Great hostel. Wonderful staff, great facilities, one of the highlights to staying in any hostel in s America. There is not much in Santa Marta, use the hostel to relax & as a base to see Tayrona & Minca. I did day trips, start early to make the most of the day. Loved watching movies, indoor & outside by the pool, the tour of the house, relaxing by the pool during the day, the cooked meals or use a big kitchen.
Great location, comfortable clean rooms & bathrooms. I stay 3 months a yr in hostels worldwide & had great expectations for this new hostel. Biggest disappointment breakfast Unprofessional in appearance, interaction with hostellers. Unclean breakfast areas. No order to washing dishes. 2 staff members tried to convince me butter was cream cheese until their supervisor came to tell then they had put out 4 butter containers. Breakfast is sugary cereals, cheap sugary yogurt. Shame on staff

Great place. You're in the middle of a forest, trails near by, usual fog & mist early morning, bring layers. Suggestion - though there is time for silence, the place could do with some atmosphere created by the staff. A little radio or something in the kitchen or eating area. Mark is usually on the desk, is a nervous person, who makes others nervous always observing them & giving you a look. He works hard, & I hope the staff can improve the atmosphere for this excellent hostel.
Great location, easy to find, next to a metro stop in the center. Stayed at both the hostel & their 2nd building 'the studio' 2 blocks away. Security, rooms, cleanliness excellent. Studio lockers don't take regular sized padlock. Buildings in general lack character, atmosphere, however clean, functional & I would absolutely stay there again. Their restaurant 'fish cafe' has the best vegetarian & beef burgers. Enjoy the parks, gardens, Acropolis & the best outdoor movie theatre in the world
Great place, a former hotel converted to a hostel, shared & singled rooms. Wifi, kitchen, pool w areas to relax, outdoor seating area & really a very nice location. 30 minutes from Fira town, 15 minutes walking up hill, so many people hired a moped for 15 euro or a quad for 20 to get about. Only concern, very loud at night. No staff on duty after 9pm, & people staying smoked, drank, played music & talked very loud outside their dorm rooms, in front of other dorm rooms until 2 or 4am.
Great location 30 meters from a central subway stop, rooms, bathrooms & check-in all very good. Occasional wait on the shower in the morning. Friendly staff. Fish cafe restaurant by their second location has the best food & also the cheapest 4-6 euro. Already planned to stay here again, only downside is that breakfast has no fruit, yogurt or musli, just a boiled egg/cheap bread/jam. For the independent traveler, this place is good, as there is not much going on during the day.
Lovely place, good location, tell the bus driver to drop you at the bus station in town, not 1/4 mile away down the rd. Owner picked me up as it was 44 degrees. Rooms are clean, quiet, secure, & usually come with a balcony looking up at the large rocks. It's also next to a trail up. Great breakfast, can ask the owner for eggs. Parking & 8 minutes walk into the center of town. Good restaurants, food/wine is cheap. Everyone comes out at night in the squares. Recommend 2 nights, 1 full day.
Corfu Backpackers is "The Pink Palace" & for someone who doesn't drink more than 1 or 2 drinks, & is usually back by midnight, I had a good time. It is a party place where many drink half the night, but if you do not & wish to stay, it is a good hostel. I stayed in a dorm room with 3 regular beds, very clean, secure, quiet but best to wear ear plugs. Breakfast is bread/jam/eggs/cofffee nothing special, dinner is good. I would stay again but not rent quads with them, 1/2 price elsewhere.
One of the top hostels in the Balkans, absolutely worth staying 1 or 2 nights to see Berat. Stay longer if you want to take a break from traveling. Rooms, beds, lockers, kitchen, bathrooms, balcony areas, bar area & tv/music room all really well built & cleaned everyday. The owner "Scottie' is very nice & he has set a new standard of hostel for others to follow. Last comment best breakfast. FYI next door someone opened up trying to be like Scotties place, but it's not the same.
One of the top hostels in the Balkans. Great room, lockers, kitchen, bathrooms, balcony, bar area, relaxing areas, shade, tv/music/reading room. Scottie the owner is excellent, quiet spoken, kind, & very helpful. Breakfast is the best of any hostel I've stayed in my 7 week trip. Berat good for 1 or 2 nights, more if you wish to take a break from traveling & relax. I met someone staying next door, a new hostel competing with Scottie, but he spent the time at our hostel. Highly recommend.
Wonderful staff, place is very nice, 25 minutes walk from the center & I had a nice stay. Excellent beds, rooms, kitchen, small garden & balcony all very good. Good breakfast. Tirana is a gritty city that has a certain attraction. Lots of energy, people are very nice, food is cheap, certainly worth visiting for 1 or 2 days. Hostel is very close to the Muslim school with a statue in front, take the street t the right of the statue & then a right 100 meters up at a bar on the corner.
Best location, 1 min. walk from old town in a quiet, private residential area hidden away by a small harbor. Great room, stayed in dorm & a private room, both with separate kitchen & bathroom. The people in charge are very nice & helpful, really making my vacation easy with good recommendations. Dubrovnik does not have to be expensive, apart from accommodation, if you stay at Hostel Marker. Recommend 2, 3 or 4 days to swim, go to the war museum & Ludrum island, as well as the old town.
Luka is a great owner, he tries to do his best for everyone. Good private rooms good, less than average dorms, no lockers, small bathroom. Problem with flies in the dorm room next to the bbq & being bitten by mosquitos in the room at night. Emphasis of the people working there is to go to the beach everyday & party every night at 11pm, but there is so much more you can do on the island. Recommend island tour with Luka, speak with owner, enjoy small town, cafes, local concerts & restaurants.
Great location, comfortable beds, lockers, no bed lights or extra space in the room. 2 showers but there was never a wait. Brian was excellent, friendly & good suggestions. Others average at best. One computer but has wifi & a tv in a small lounge. Didn't like that people were allowed to dump all their clothing & sleep on the 2 couches in the lounge area until 10-11am as they were drunk the night before, sometimes these seemed to be staff or the people leading the pub crawl. Kitchen good.
Myda, I admire what you have done here. You work very hard & treat everyone like family. Small things mean a lot... someone picks you up from the bus station & knows your name, points out interesting places, greet you everytime with an invitation for tea, coffee or water, asks you to sit down & relax, serves you breakfast asking if you had enough to eat, leaves a note out with who is taking a taxi with the time. These things do not loose when you get bigger. We come for you & Batas tour.
Best dorm set-up, comfortable beds w locker underneath & a light. Good kitchen, breakfast bread, chese, jam & nutella-like brand. No musli only cornflakes w milk. Great location, no air conditioning, next to average noisy street, wear ear plugs. Only negative womens shower very small, you can only stand straight. Mens shwoer much better. Owner is excellent for information., other staff less than average. Owner is there most of the day. Best hostile to stay in Sarajevo, recommend 2 nights
Great location. Small hostel, comfortable. clean, quiet, nice lounge area w tv & kitchen. Easy to find (look for name on the door bell) across from a church, next to the restaurant called ?. Yes that is the name. Hostel could do with some minor repairs & I would stay there again, excellent staff, more the 3 women than the gentleman. Belgrade is a surprise, everyone loves it, cheaper than Croatia & Bosnia to eat, go out, movie, stay for minimum 2 days, better 3 days. Then travel again.
There's just not a great hostel in Joburg. Mbizi is good if you're waiting to fly only. There's one empty pizza rest. near by & nothing else. Bar, pool table, garden, tv room, pool is good, internet 20 rand 30 minutes, wifi 10 rand though no code is needed, so you log on yourself for free. Rooms & mens dorm is good, women's is not good - 5 single beds 6 inches apart in a badly converted garage. Roommate was coughing all night because of the dust. Bags go on the floor. Bring your own food.
There's just not a great hostel in Joburg. Bob's is good if you're waiting to fly out. It's close to a very average street with few shops, KFC had wires across so his ells you about the area. Bob's is 7km from the shopping mall 60 rand by taxi. Bar is small, bunk beds confortable but ladies is next to the bathroom that 2 rooms use. No internet, owners just stopped the service despite what is advertized on the website, but they have wifi. Mbizi is better, except for girls dorm in a garage.
Great place, staff, restaurant, all meals, atmosphere & location. Loved the view from the red dorm but, please, how could you not have such disgusting dorm bathrooms. Improvements needed, doors don't lock, showers are dirty & full of mold. The shower on the far right had no hot water & in general, they are not up to your standard. The dorm room could also do with some lockers, a light by some of the beds. The glass window by the far bunk is broken.

Great place to stay, quiet, relaxing by the pool, reading on the deck. Helpful staff. 15 minutes walk from town, definately stay 2 days & go on one wine tour with the hostel. Eat at a restaurant called Apprentice in town.
Great hostel. Comfortable beds, not much space in the dorm, but the rest of the hostel more than makes up for the small dorms. Very clean, more mature travelers tend to stay & repeat their stay here. Located in a great neighborhood, close to restaurants, great atmosphere. Breakfast nothing special , bring your own museli & fruit if you don't want toast & cornflakes.
Great hostel, friendly German staff, excellent facilities, fruit & muesli for breakfast a plus. Showers need to be cleaned. ILocation great for the waterfront but not down town. I stayed for 3 more nights at Amber Tree Lodge hostel, hard to get into but the best in town for location, quiet, older 30 - 50ish, more comfortable hostel.
You can only buy a map & the young volunteers don't give advice on the city. Only activity that the hostel organizes is give a daily prayer group meeting. Downstairs, people are smoking in the open area outside that gets into the rooms or talking until after midight or playing pin pong which means anyone in a downstairs dorm, doesn't sleep. The fridge fits only food for 10 people, not 180 people & is full of ice. People don't label food like other hostels. Computers sometimes don't work.
Amsterdam is great but get away from the red light district. Though I gave a low rating for security, character & fun, recommend you stay at the hostel in a 4 bed room instead of a 16-20 bed dorm. Advantages your room will have a lock, nicer, quieter (a lot quieter), cleaner, it's upstairs where there's much more security. It is worth the extra $6 euros/night. Staff is very nice but are volunteers, v. young, & overly do the 'I've been saved by Jesus.' Lockers only can fit a day pack.
Great location, but staff & activities are average at best. There is no real hang out area except for the kitchen which fits 6 around a table. There is a room with 4 computers 3/4 work. The hostel is very noisy all night & with the location, your room is above the street across from bars. If you can sleep with all the noise & people partying in the room & hallway, stay there for the location. I will stay at HostelONE where partying & sleeping is possible. Breakfast toast, jam, cornflakes.
Excellent hostel, thank you. Friendly, informative & really helpful staff in the best location, who organize great events or help you do it solo. Comfortable & safe rooms, clean bathroom & kitchen wher a lady cooks you scrambled eggs & toast every morning, plus they have muslie. Ipads available & great room to relax in or another to watch tv (only hostel to have Wimbledon coverage). Absolutely coming back. Recommend people do the Portugese food & Fado night, go to Sintra by yourself.
Excellent hostel. Clean, professionally run, friendly informative staff, comfortable rooms, great bathrooms & good breakfast (real bread rools with ham & cheese). Alternatively, stay at 'Downtown Hostel' where I stayed 1 night as I came into Porto early without a reservation. They are equally excellent with an advantage - better kitchen & more rooms to lounge in, rather than one area at Rivoli. Rivoli has one advantage over Downtown Hostel, that is a rooftop terrace which is great.
Great hostel, garden, laundry, kitchen. Directions could be better as it is around the corner up 25 meters on the right side from he street it says it is on. Old building, staff are excellent. Would stay again, Santiago De Composta good for 1-2 days max.
Excellent hostel. Friendly & informative staff, comfortable beds with a great room & bathrooms are very clean with an Ikea feel, including a great kitchen & relaxing area with Tv & internet. Good breakfast & near everything. Would absolutely stay again.
Improvements needed by the building owner. Saving part.. lady & Albert who work there are very nice. Not a hostel, rather an apt. in a building where many people are crammed into with no lockers, no bed lights, mold in the bathrooms & broken showers heads, & a kitchen that lacks basic cleanliness or space. It is nice of Alert to cook every night & only charge 3 Euros, but he takes up the entire kitchen from 6 to 10pm or more. Others can not cook & there are always people drinking there.
Best location, best sleep & most comfortable bed I have had in all of Spain. Staff speak different languages & are very helpful. They clean twice a day at least & the kitchen is great. Easy to find, very secure will definately come back. Stayed in Barcelona for 8 days.
2 of the 4 computers are not working. The front desk only checks people in & beyond a map, is not helpful or knowledgeable about what´s happening. The cleaning staff during the week, especially the guy did a great job. Some of the people staying there were not considerate of others, being loud & partying at 11pm-1am in the rooms, drinking & running into the bathroom. Do not stay in the ladies 4 bed dorm next to both bathrooms. Many 1st time travelers who do not know how to hostel doing laundry at 1am.
Excellent hostel, lady is very helpful & has made her home easy & comfortable to stay in. Highly recommend stay 2-3 days, then take a bus (R$38) to Jeri 3-4 days, stay in a hostel or pousada. Do not book a tour by the people selling on the beach, the bus takes just as long & the hotel they give you is bad.
Nice place good staff dorms average need screens on windows also not cleaned every day. Would stay again, breakfast okay too many leftover baked items, no eggs or pancakes. No internet.
Problem w/bed bugs at the hostel. Owner blames it on a traveler, but it is in more than one room. Helpful friendly owner but a lot of the information given to us about events was incorrect over 3 days. Would stay again but not in 4 bedrom on the ground floor v. noisy people smoking outside air conditioner very noisy. 3 days in Salvador is god then go to Lencois or other places. Do not let the owner make a skype cal for you, cost R60 for 10 min. to Canada.
Excellent hostel. I hostel 3 mts/yr. all over the world & this is one of the best as far as location (beach, metro). It is also the most clean, casual, relaxing place. I will definately return. Suggestion to staff: ask fellow hostellers to stay in the common areas after midnight to party so the rest of us can sleep. Also, to give better advise on things to do, update the board, post bus schedules, maps of popular places to go
New building, excellent kitchen, bathroom, & rooms. Definately recommend, advised they post better directions. 40 min. walk from the center, or 25 min. walk from the Amber museum. Walk up Nevosky st., past 2 traffic lights, take next left (furniture store on corner), walk down 4 minutes past symolic land mine on left, turn right walk 3 min. pass small supermarket, turn right walk 3 min. to building # 4 (10 stori
