Downtown River Hostel, San Sebastian, Spain

DRH suffers from not having an actual communal area. There's the kitchen which is open until 11 and isn't the most condusive for hanging out. Everything else is okay, but you need to be very self-motivated to meet people or organize your own outings.

Sungate One, Madrid, Spain

17th May 2016

Over 2 days, I got 7 hours of sleep. The people were too good, there were too many things to see, and Sungate does a great job ensuring you're able to explore Madrid. On top of that the beds are comfortable, the bathrooms are clean and the community dinner is delicious

The fact that one of the staff members made Brownies for everyone should tell you everything you need to know. The staff were awesome, the beds are comfy (though the room fans sound like a plane taking off), it's location is great nearby everything you'll want to see except the beach and their relationship with Passionbike Shop is a wonderful bonus.

Feel Hostels Soho Malaga, Malaga, Spain

A little bit outside the heart of Malaga, everything is still quite walkable. Security into and out of the hostel is great, however 3/6 lockers inside my room were busted so you couldn't actually lock up your possessions.

Dear guest, thanks a lot for your feedback. Our location is very good since we are just a few minutes from the main sightseen of the city. Nonetheless we are located in a quiet and safe street so it is possible to avoid the crowds and noisies of other street of Malaga center. All the lockers have been supervised and fixed. Thanks a lot!!

Great hostel. Meant to stay 1 night but Tarifa had way more to offer than I expected so I stayed for 3. The guys behind the desk are super friendly and definitely concerned about the well being of their guests. I'd definitely come back.

The staff at the hostel are great. You constantly feel well taken care of while sipping on an extravagant amount of mint tea. The rooms are comfy and cozy. Bring ear plugs if you need to sleep early as all rooms have a window to the lounge area. Security is good, however there aren't any lockers in the dorms, though the staff are very respectful of your property. Hiring someone to bring you to the hostel the first time is a good idea as it's a little tricky to find.

Siad and Mohammed are wonderful contacts at this hostel. They're happy to lend you help in any way they can. The hostel itself is a beautifully decorated, well-kept, clean and comfortable. The downstairs lounge and rooftop patio are great for socializing and 25 Diram for a beer is welcomed as well. While it might be difficult to find the first time, the location is quietly located on the edge of the medina 300m from the Square which is perfect. A great stay!

Tangier Melting Pot Hostel, Tangier, Morocco

The location was tough to find but that's a result of being inside the Medina which is exactly where you want to be. The hostel is beautiful and well-kept but the real joy for this hostel is the staff. They're all so incredibly friendly and insightful for things to do, see and eat. They made Tangier for me more than anything else.

Hostal Versalles, Algeciras, Spain
7.1
26th Apr 2016

This guesthouse harkens back to the mid 80's. It's situated right near the ferry terminal which is great, but to be honest, if you don't have to stop in Algeciras I wouldn't bother. The directions to the hostel could be a lot more clear and some sort of Map at the front desk would've made a big difference. The shower, though dated, had great power. The beds were okay, however a couple slats on the bottom of my bed broke as I was laying on top.

Old Town Lagos Hostel, Lagos, Portugal

It's tough to say too much about the atmosphere of this hostel because there really wasn't anyone there when we went due to it being super low season. It's in a great spot and it seems like it's set up to have a good atmosphere for backpackers. Aside from the 24h reception, there isn't much in the way of security. They have some wooden lockers but my mid-sized backpack didn't really fit inside. The staff do a great job at taking care of the hostel, and Nicky is the best.

From the moment you arrive and get handed a cold beer, you recognize this hostel as being awesome. The staff are great, they cook a mean family dinner, they're well situated to see the sights around town and beyond. The only thing you have to worry about is wether or not you can beat Will in a game of Beer Pong. He drains 3's like a College Senior.

The couple who run BnB Guesthouse are amazing. The pickup from the airport was really appreciate. The all day breakfast that's included in the price was a nice touch. The only thing to consider is that if you're trying to go to the Blue Lagoon and you haven't rented a vehicle, Keflavik itself isn't connected well transit wise to get you there. The hostel itself though is really nice.

The hostel does a really good job of getting people to meet. When we were there they had a free cheeseburger night and then everybody meet in the movie room which boasts a great collection. They were very helpful setting us up with a black taxi tour (ask for Paddy) and the room was clean. You always want more bathrooms but the ones they have were all nice when they were free.

Mustafa was the best part of this hostel. He wet out of his way to help us figure out what to do, whether that meant a tourist recommendation for the sunset or even offering to send us to his cousins restaurant. The place itself is really quiet. The 'cave' gets pretty warm at night. The location is steps from the city centre and offers great prices for hot air ballooning from $90.

Bada Bing Hostel Istanbul, Istanbul, Turkey
9.1
4th Aug 2013

BadaBing was one of the best hostels we encountered in Europe. We stayed in an 8 bed dorm which had full a/c, large lockups under all the beds and reasonably comfortable beds. The best thing though was the people. Mustafa helped us plan the rest of our trip through Cappadocia and the Blue Cruises setting us up with a great deal. While everyone else was helpful guiding tours into the city. When you're asked to bring duty free alcohol, do it.

If you're looking for a place in the center of downtown Zagreb, this isn't your place. It's well connected via transit to the core though with only about a 10 minute walk to the team lines. The hostel is really clean, they offer a cheap taxi service to the airport and are very knowledgeable about things to do in Zagreb.

The hostel is 2 minutes walk from the Central Train Station. Its on the 4th floor of a building and is closer to a Hotel than a hostel. There is no kitchen or common room, so use it as a bed only, but I'd highly recommend it as your base camp.

This hostel is amazing. I met so many great people during my stay that I have no qualms about calling it the most epic 5 night adventure ever. Toronto is a great city and HI-Toronto hostel is a wonderfully situated hub to experience it all. The kind of people the hostel attracts are so multi-cultural and young its a great atmosphere for socializing. Unreal is the only word for this hostel.
