Pros: - Very friendly staff - Able to book tours from reception - Great hot showers - Breakfast included (bread, jam, tea) - Activities at night eg. cooking demo, BBQ - Large lockers - Computer for guest use - Gas burner to cook on Cons: - Inconsistent wifi
Patrick picked me up from the airport at 1am and spent much of the following day calling up to try to help me locate my luggage that the airline lost. The breakfast was amazing - veggie burrito! The 4 bed dorm had AC and one of the bathrooms had got water. The kitchen was well equipped. The location was a bit far out of the city but there are buses that you can catch nearby and a couple of big supermarkets close by too, which were very convenient.
Beautiful, clean, spacious hostel with chilled atmosphere. Really easy to get to from bus terminal (right near a Metro Station), close to shops etc. Good kitchen, awesome breakfast. Enormous lockers in the rooms. I would definitely recommend this hostel!
Good hostel in Botafogo, which is a nice, less expensive/touristy area of Rio. There's a big supermarket two mins walk down the road, and it's close to bakeries, laundry, Metro Station, buses etc. The kitchen is small but well stocked, good breakfast with delicious fresh fruits, computers that you can use (but the USB ports are disabled) and helpful staff. The dorm was large and had noisy snorers but that was just bad luck. The dorm had AC. I would recommend this hostel.
This hostel was in a great location, right near the beach with a beautiful view. Breakfast was great, the kitchen was well equipped, there was a big satellite TV, book swap, boardgames, beach toys, clean dorm, hot shower (although not strong pressure) and very helpful friendly staff. Recommended!
This hostel was in a fantastic location, a block and a half from the bus stop. Staff were very helpful and friendly. There were nice places to relax, a small but well-equipped kitchen and good breakfast (bread, cake, spreads, oranges, fresh orange juice, coffee, tea etc). Wifi worked well.
This hostel was in a good location, close to a couple of Metro stations. The staff were very friendly, even giving us a bottle of sparking wine for staying almost a week there! There was a nice lounge to hang out in, a TV, book swap, city maps, good wifi and kitchen stocked with spices etc available for use. A supermarket, bakery and fruit store were just down the road. There were only two bathrooms which meant long waits in the morning. However it was definitely great value!
Traveller's Haven was a really wonderful hostel. The staff were incredibly helpful, the kitchen was a decent size, kept clean and well equipped and the dorms were reasonably spacious. It was located near the bus stop and the hostel organised a taxi to drive us to the train station (which cost €3 each with four of us in the taxi). The atmosphere of the hostel was really nice too. Having the free bikes to use was fantastic, although you need to get in early so you don't miss out. Awesome hostel!
We had a wonderful time in Guven Cave Hotel. Mustafa was exceptionally friendly and helpful, giving us lots of tips about places to eat and things to do, and going out of his way to help us with anything. The breakfast was amazing: muesli, eggs, cheeses, tomato, cucumber, olives, dried fruit, bread, spreads, halva.... a feast! There was good air conditioning and wifi in the communal room and bedrooms. I would highly recommend Guven Caves!!
Really nice hostel in a great position a few minutes walk from Termini train station, with a breakfast of cereal and bread rolls and a pizza/pasta dinner included. Would definitely go back to.
