If you want a room with a kitchen you have to borrow a box of equipment for only 3 hours at a time, stupid system and stuff not always there - not ideal. No kettle so had to borrow a box even to make a hot drink. Staff not always that helpful with directions (it is also longer than 20mins walk to the Opera house). Very clean rooms, bus stop right outside.
Pros: helpful staff, free caipirinha each night, good bar area, TV and computer. Cons: stayed in ground floor private double - smelly tiny room, mould on mattress, doors and walls, not a double but 2 single beds pushed 2gether, bedding
Located very close to the town square which has restaurants and the theatre. Hostel was very clean and looked really nice. Good common area which sold beverages. Staff were really helpful with local info and directions. We left our bag in lockers while on a trek, but you need your own padlock. We didn't book a tour through the hostel, we went with Amazon Antonio which was excellent. Breakfast started at 7 so we could have some before leaving for the Amazon. Would stay again and recommend highly!
Big room, quite basic but not dirty. Big breakfast. A pool but we didn't use as a bit cold. Staff really helpful and called us a taxi and didn't mind us changing the time, gave us good info for going to the falls. We didn't book their tour and got the public bus which was fine and easy. Hostel very near bus stop for airport and falls, restaurants and shops.
Amazing location, nicely decorated apartment with living room and kitchen. EVERYTHING CLEAN!! Nobody else stayed when we were there so we had it to ourselves which was amazing. Don't know what it would be like if the other 2 rooms had guests. Valeska wasn't really around but was very helpful and left info for us! Great if you want to be close to the beach, however was same price as a The Hotel Astoria so might not be a budget option. Worth paying more for than some of the hostels.
Staff really helpful and organised two great value tours though them, one to Borobudur and one to bromo then onto Denpasar. Restaurant and cafe area is a short walk away, also near sultans palace. Good hearty buffet breakfast in the hotel! Might get woken up early by the mosque so bring ear plugs. Hotel has a beautiful garden to relax in. Also there is always a becak driver outside ready to pounce!
The staff are really helpful, especially Rudy. Convenient location for bus station to get around city with shops nearby for food, but not really restaurants. They maybe need a mostiqito repellent in the bathrooms as there was always a couple in there! Our double room was amazing, but smoking area outside window made it abit noisy. Free mineral water massive plus!
This is an amazing hostel it's really good fun with signing and guitar playing every night, Nora and her staff are hilarious. Their restaurant does really cheap but delicious food. Considering its jungle the facilities are great, no hot water but don't expect a hot shower anywhere in the whole town.New airport means harder to get to Bukit lawang than previously but Nora can usually help sort return airport transfer for you. Beware iof minibus touts lying about lack of public buses at bus station
Our double room for a couple was basically a cupboard and you could hear the kitchen, shared bathroom and people outside the door quite loudly so still not that private. Apart from that really good hostel, close to subway so easy to get around and very welcoming staff. Breakfast was pretty good.
Excellent location next to china towns night market and the most if the staff are really helpful. Big room, quite dark though and the fan and air con were quite noisy but ear plugs blocked that out.
Our room was really nice but very hot. We got an unexpected en suite which was good! The guy running it is helpful, although he charges for using the computer and will badger you about paying him straight away rather than at the end, even if you want to build up an hour of use then pay when you leave! Quite busy with lots of common space so good for meeting people, though is quite small so gets abit cosy, plus v.stuffy and hot. Garden with pool looked cool although we didnt use it. Good VFM.
Pretty hostel with nice garden and friendly staff. When we arrived there had been a mix up with our booking so we had to move from a fantastioc double room to a average twin room with shared bathroom for the second night. The staff were appologetic but it was unclear how this happened. Breakfast is great BUT beware you have to eat with the family who appear to live there (same goes for the common facilities) they are nice but might get awkward if you want privacy.
Excellent location, with nice rooftop bar. Room very small and dark, but all essentials catered for, pretty basic but clean. Not very quiet but party does not go on all night. Bar downstairs quite expensive but I would reccomend staying here based on the excellent location alone.
Enjoyed our stay in this hostel, we stayed in the double private and it was very nice. They let us check in asoon as we arrived at 5am without paying extra and the staff are excellent. Really good location and the usual facilities of a hostel. They organise activities and it is a fun place to stay. I was disspointed with the toilets and showers but I don't think you will find a hostel better than this is Russia as the standard is pretty poor anywhere. I would reccomend staying here!
The staff were rude and unwelcoming. The hostel is tiny, with the three people who work there living in it and treating it as a home. There is already limited space in the common room (one sofa) which they take over. Nice decorations but that was the only fun aspect of the hostel. Pretty average facilities, the negatove vastly weigh out the positives. I would suggest people don't bother staying here.
Brilliant staff and facilities! Bit further out so walking home took a while but very near to Metro stop which was handy! Lovely rooms and common room / kitchen. Liked the lockers and how helpful the staff were! Deffinatley a bargin - worth every penny.
