Amazing location in Waikiki. Only drawback is the loud garbage truck that comes by every morning at 7:30am.
We found it a pleasant place to stay at the end of our month-long campervan trip around NZ. The highlight is that it's right in the middle of downtown, near lots of restaurants, and walking distance to most of the not terribly many things to do in Auckland. Highly recommend getting out and seeing the rest of NZ too.
Friendly staff. Excellent location if you're interested in seeing the post-quake city or museum. Bit of a walk to find a budget friendly place to eat though.
A good hostel, not quite great. Location is convenient, directly above the King's cross metro. We had a street facing room and it was noisy every night of the week. Glad we had earplugs. Wifi is excellent during the day, but grinds to a halt in the evenings with everyone on it. We had a private room, but at 10am every morning housekeeping would knock on the door and immediately come in, regardless if we asked them not to. Then again to vacuum, then again to empty the bin.
Clean and comfortable place in a great location. The toilets (stalls) are located in the hallways, which is a little odd. Very close to the 12 Apostles and Port Campbell is a pretty little town. It's a perfect place for a stopover on a Great Ocean Roadtrip.
I'd definitely stay here again. Big hostel, nice clean facilities, great location for walking around downtown. We really enjoyed the night-time view from the rooftop hot tub.
Rucksack Inn is maybe the cleanest and most comfortable hostel I've stayed in. Location is hard to beat. Staff is very helpful. The atmosphere was average. It was pretty quiet when we were there -- didn't have the meet new people vibe that some places excel at. Overall one of the best hostels I've stayed at.
Great location and the staff was very helpful. At check in she gave us a full run down on the local sites with specific directions and tips. The highlight of City Walls is the atmosphere of the traditional Chinese hutong. We arrived after dark and had a bit of a difficult time finding it because we couldn't see the signs. But a local noticed us looking lost and pointed us in the right direction.

Great location, walkable to both Cabot Tower and George St. House 18 was very well kept, inside and out. This is the nicest Canadian hostel we've stayed in. I also highly recommend the city tour they offer. In 4 hours we saw most of the city, including Cape Spear, and Denis had stories for every question.
Fun place to stay - spacious rooms, great atmosphere, walking distance to Metro. Would like to see it again when the renos are complete. Free Wifi, and there is a computer available, but I wouldn't rely on it, it's quite slow.
Decent place overall. Breakfast wasn't good - stale buns and warm milk. I watched a bed being made.. the bottom sheet and blanket weren't changed, only the one sheet. So you have a clean sheet on one side and used on the other. We didn't know we had to change rooms one night and returned to find our stuff had been moved. They were very good with regards to collecting all our stuff -- nothing was missing. But when I asked the front desk what was going on he was very rude.
Very nice facilities and friendly staff for the most part. We've stayed at a lot of places that have free breakfast and they encourage you to take something for lunch as well. Here we paid for breakfast and were scolded for doing this. Not quite the same environment that we have come to expect from a hostel.
This is a hotel rather than a hostel. Very helpful staff and a clean facilities. Breakfast was great - croissants and yogurt along with the usual cereal, etc.. One small drawback is no elevator. It is quite a climb up to the 4th floor.
It's an old hostel but very clean. Not as new and nice as some others but the staff and the atmospheare make it exceptional. We loved the fireplace and the movie nights, as well as 2 for 1 happy hour in the bar downstairs.
Very nice place and Andre is a friendly and helpful host. We enjoyed it.
Decent hostel close to Leidseplein. Not great but not at all bad. The washroom was fairly clean but smelled and was always damp.
Excellent Hostel. The staff is super friendly and more than willing to answer any questions. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay there.
