El Viajero San Andres Hostel & Suites

San Andres Island, Colombia
74%

I had a great time at el viajero, San andres. The staff were so lovely and would do anything to help. Dorms were big. However, it really does lack atmosphere. It could do with organised events or something to get people talking. That's the only bad thing. Other than that, it's a nice chilled hostel.

Lima Limon Candelaria Hostel

Bogota, Colombia

This hostel has a lot of character and SHOULD be better than it actually is.staff were the major let down.beds in the dorm are not safe (though look very pretty). I was on the top bunk. There was no ladder...and I fell off, hit my head...and the staff did not care. It's happened to others, so do something about it! It's in a great central area, however, so use it as a base. If you've travelled a lot, you'll have seen fantastic hostels, and bad ones. This is in middle, so don't expect much.

The Dreamer Hostel

Santa Marta, Colombia

Absolutely fantastic hostel. Definitely the best in Santa Marta. I stayed at la brisa (which was great) but needed a break from the place. Stayed here and had a great time. Staff are friendly, it's much more sociable as it's small and no one forces you to play games if you don't want to. The dorms are nice. The facilities are great (lovely large pool) and the Friday night party bus is a must do. Had a brilliant time here. Stay!

Stayed here on and off for 3 weeks, because I knew the bar staff from travelling.great place if you're a party animal. They play wheel of fortune most nights, which is fine for most (and fun, it will kill you!!!) but if you're not up for it,it can feel like you're forced to play otherwise you are literally told you're a prude. FYI some people just want a drink!! Overall staff are awesome. Dorms are spacious. Great location. Free welcome drink (yay!). Stay for a few nights only.warning you now!!

The journey up is sheer comedy. Don't take a big backpack, as you need to take a moto taxi for 40minutes! The place is still under development, so it's rough around the edges but the staff are chilled, breakfast is nice (extra cost) and the big hammock is brilliant.

A fantastic hostel with an open bar / pool area so great to socialise. You have to do the free salsa class.brilliant! Dorms are nice and spacious and there's lots of places to relax. The reception staff let it down. I didn't have a proper welcome, no map, didn't show me around the hostel and very rude. Bar staff nice. Maybe I'm precious but most hostels in South America do the basics right. Suggest training for them. But overall, I'd still recommend based on everything else.

Iguana Backpackers

Montanita, Ecuador
74%

This is a really nice hostel. Super chilled in the day but comes alive at night. Montanita is definitely about the nightlife, so the location was brilliant to be able to party, but go back to a quiet hostel. Had a fun time here meeting new people. Staff are not that friendly and the showers are rarely hot, but apart from that, a good place to stay.

Loki del Mar

Mancora, Peru
86%

If you're going to Mancora, the only hostel you want to stay at is Loki. The place feels like a resort. It's literally on the beach and the nightlife is brilliant...be careful of the bloodbombs though, they are lethal! I was travelling alone but made friends pretty quickly. If you're after a chilled place, Loki is not the place to stay. I had a great time and would recommend to anyone.

This is a lovely chilled hostel. The beds are super comfy and the dorms are really spacious. The staff are really friendly too and give 'local' recommendations. The only downer is that it lacks any atmosphere, like zero. But, if you're after a party hostel, you're better off somewhere else. This hostel is perfect to chill out and refresh yourself after Macchu Piccu.

Do not stay here. The staff are really rude and not helpful at all. The showers are super cold. There's no atmosphere at all. The beds are okay but security is a bit of an issue. I'd pay a little bit extra for a decent hostel closer to town.

Such a cute little place. The staff are really lovely and make you feel really welcome. The place feels more like a home where you can just chill out. Only downer was that there was 1 bathroom for about 20 people, but other than that, it was a great stopover.

Our hotel can accommodate max 18 people and there are 3 bathrooms in total. One bathroom is located in the 8 people dorm, one bathroom in front of the 4 people dorm (where you stayed) and 1 bathroom upstairs. We are sorry you didn't realize that. Regards, Hostal El Arbol

This is a fantastic hostel. The staff are lovely, free fruit and coffee all day long and the beds are really comfy. I had a great time there and felt really safe. The guests were awesome too. If you like to cook, there's all the utensils you'll need...a rarity in hostels! Definitely stay here.

Hostal Forestal

Santiago, Chile

You have to take reviews with a pinch of salt, but please do not stay here. The description is not correct - they don't half half the facilities they claim to have...cooking classes, tour desk, no not showers, wifi rubbish, staff not very friendly or helpful and in a rough area. Beds are okay but security is a bit of an issue. I would stay at Bellavista if you can, it's much better and hostels are geared up to help. You have been warned!

Lagares Hostel

This is a lovely hostel and a great place to stay. The staff are super friendly and helpful. Unlike other places, they will tell you all the options and give you their 'real' recommendations. They will also help you book buses to the next place too. The showers are hot, the beds really comfy (ideal after doing the wine tours!) and they have a great spacious kitchen if you want to cook. Definitely stay here if you get the chance.

This is a lovely place to stay if you want to relax and detox from the party hostels! The staff are awesome and will help you with anything, the beds are comfy and the showers are hot. It's located in the perfect central location of Centro on Avienda de Mayo, so you are close to everything...including Florida street. Great place for a couple of days.

Milhouse is awesome and the perfect place to party. The beds are comfy and showers are really powerful and hot.The staff are amazing.I was studying Spanish (not through the hostel), they were amazing to help practice in the day...then party at night!I am travelling alone but it didn't feel like it as you meet so many fun people of all ages. There's so many things they organise, so get involved.Awesome place...but not if you want to sleep. FYI: Hipo is more for 18yr olds, Avenue for everyone else!

This hostel is amazing! I was there for 4 nights and had the best time. The staff were brilliant and super helpful, and the guests were awesome. It's not a party hostel but the atmosphere was brilliant...and the free caiprinha helped too!! Right on Barro de Lagoa which was great. I was travelling alone and the team made me feel so welcome within the first 5 minutes. I ended up travelling with most of the guests for 4 months! Definitely stay here if you get the chance.

This was an average hostel. We stayed a couple nights based on the recommendations on hostel world but ended up moving to a nicer, cleaner hostel. Most importantly, they need more plug sockets. We were in a dorm of 4 and there was ONE plug for all four inc the fan!!!! Not great, but okay for 1-2nights.

Hostel Galeria 13

Salvador, Brazil

The best hostel in Brazil! I was meant to stay 2 nights but ended up 8 in total I just couldn't leave! Paulo runs a very tight ship! He looks scary Brit but he is absolutely lovely, has travelled lots and genuinely wants people to have fun time. The 8 bed dorm was spacious, enough room for bags and lockers and a big bathroom. Very clean hostel. Fantastic location! Fantastic atmosphere. Free caipirinhas each night and the breakfast by vanda is AWESOME! Best time, I'll definitely be back!

This has got to be one of the best hostels in Brazil! Gus, the argentine owner, is fantastic. I was travelling alone and as soon as I checked in, he introduced me to everyone, we had a group BBQ (yum!) and it resulted in everyone mingling straight away. Fantastic vibe. Dorms ok (definitely needs aircon installing which he's doing). Staff super friendly...and most importantly, breakfast was fantastic! Definitely stay here!

Staying at El misti totally depends on the people staying. Unfortunately I was in a 9 bed dorm with a bunch of mean Israelis so it dampened my experience. Dorms are really tightly squeezed, bathroom (bit ming) but there's hammocks and a fun bar area to chat! It's in a fantastic location, so defo stay here.
